Divorce situations of families with children of school age from the point of view of specialists dealing with divorce problems.
MIKULOVÁ, Radka
The number of divorced families has been continually increasing and the Czech society accepts such families with dependent children tolerantly. Nowadays we know that a family with both parents but full of violence is much worse for children than living with a single parent. Psychosocial development of children growing in incomplete families thus does not have to be marked negatively. Despite that, in most cases a breakdown of a marriage with children is perceived as a hard and frustrating situation. And all the involved parties need to cope, particularly with the failure and loss in their lives. The objective of the thesis was to map attitudes of workers of the department of social and legal protection of children, marriage and family counselors, crisis and emergency centers and other professionals to the divorce situation of families with children in school age. Partial objectives of the thesis included mapping of opinions of the workers about the shared custody, experience of professionals with family mediation and determination whether the professionals are offered possibilities of further education. The views of the professionals were collected by means of a questionnaire survey conducted in January, February and March. 415 questionnaires were distributed at random. The research group consisted of 99 returned questionnaires. The individual categories of professionals did not demonstrate any significant differences in their attitudes to the shared custody. Divorce mediation was viewed as a suitable method for resolution of family disputes. The research has also shown that the professional community is offered sufficient opportunities of further education. According to the responding professionals, incomplete (divorced) families are capable of ensuring successful development of the children. The professionals concurred particularly on the opinion that each divorce situation needs to be approached individually.

Joint physical custody after divorce and its influence on members of family
RUBEŠOVÁ, Lenka
My thesis deals with the issue of educational environment of minor children after their parents´ divorce. I focused on joint physical custody, which means that each of the parents shall have significant periods of physical custody, i.e. more or less continuing contact with children. Legal institution of joint physical custody was introduced to the legal practice in the Czech Republic in 1998, when the amendment of the Family Act was adopted. Unfortunately, joint physical custody is not often used in practice and experts do not even share the same opinion of this phenomenon. If joint physical custody is chosen as educational environment for minors, big claims are posed both on parents and their children. The objective of my work was to find out, how joint physical custody works in concrete families with minors at the age of 6 to15, and whether parents and children are satisfied with this family arrangement. Partial objectives were to find out what are the most frequently used periods of physical custody {--} how many days the minor lives with one parent before he/she leaves to live with the other one; whether such family arrangement influences minors´ school attendance and quality of communication within the family. A qualitative research, the polling method and the technique of a half-standardized interview have been applied. In the framework of the research, interviews with parents and their children in five families with joint physical custody were carried out.The results showed, that the arrangement of joint physical custody has been working in these families for several years and that the polled family members are mostly satisfied. Most frequently used period of living with one of the parents is a one week period, and Friday is usually the day of moving from one parent to the other. If parents are able to cooperate and communicate well with each other, there is not even a problem with school attendance. All members of the families agreed that they are able to communicate well with each other. The results of my thesis might be used by counselling services that are provided for divorcing couples and all the facts and information about experience with joint physical custody might help to those parents who consider such family arrangement.
Specifics of working with the family of a child threatened by the parents' divorce from the view of a social worker under "OSPOD" (the authority for the social-legal protection of children) - theoretical analysis and case
BERANOVÁ, Kateřina
This thesis deals theoretically as well as in the scope of application practice with the issue of the children participation in the divorce disputes of parents as basic for the work of the social employee of an authority for the social and legal protection of children. The main target of the thesis was to describe, through the case studies, the course and specifics of the work with the family of a child endangered by the divorce of the parents from the point of view of the social employee of the authority for the social-legal protection of children (OSPOD). The partial target was, based on work with families, to formulate the recommendation for the consulting and activity of a social worker of OSPOD in the family of a child endangered by the divorce conflict of parents. In the scope of qualitative research by means of a case study I applied the method of participating observation, non-structured interview and the analysis of documents to acquire data. Based on the data acquired by these methods I made up four case studies. In three case studies, a more or less developed parental alienation syndrome, each time as a consequence of the alienation syndrome partner. In the four case studies the problems in the relation of the parent and the child after the divorce, originally interpreted by the father as the parental alienation syndrome, appeared as consequence of the non-sensitive involving of the child into the non-settled partner relationships between the parents from the part of parents and grand-parent. The work of a social employee of OSPOD in the investigated families had a consulting aspect, preventive aspect, it was done mainly on the level of individual and group interventions towards parents; that should respect and carry out the rights and duties following from the parental liability; partly the activity was carried out on the level of mediation work. Based on the comparison of individual case studies I formulated in the discussion part of the thesis the recommendation for the consulting work and activity of a social employee of OSPOD in the families of children the rights and interests of whom are endangered by the divorce dispute of parents.

SEDLÁKOVÁ, Barbora
A goal of this bachelor thesis with the topic ``Specifics of the social work with families in divorce{\crqq} is to compare a prior-to divorce, divorce, anti-divorce care in towns of České Budějovice and Prostějov and to search for state and private institutions dealing with problems of families in divorce in those localities. The thesis has been focused on the quality and availability of these services and on used methods of work with families in divorce proceedings. A partial goal of the thesis is also to ascertain views of addressed experts on an importance and quality of the family mediation in the Czech Republic. The theoretical part of the bachelor thesis deals with the divorce issues. At the beginning the thesis focuses its attention on statistical data, defines the divorce and its causes, a course of divorce process, deals with an adjustment of relations for minor children after the divorce. A substantial part of the theory deals with a process of the social work with families in divorce. In that part there are described theories and methods of the social work with families in divorce, social services for families in divorce in the Czech Republic, there is described a role of the social and legal protection of children and a method of family mediation. The final part briefly introduces the issue of the parental alienation syndrome. A goal of the research part of the bachelor thesis was to compare an area of a prior-to-divorce, divorce and after-divorce care in regions of České Budějovice and Prostějov and to search for state and private institutions dealing with issues of the family in divorce in those regions. One of the goals was also to find out at what stage of the divorce these institutions attend to the families and which way they intervene in the situation. It was used a technique of half-standardized interview for the research. The research target group consisted of workers from institutions, whose focus of the professional interest is the family and children in the towns of České Budějovice and Prostějov. More detailed interviews were conducted in organizations, specialized in working with families in divorce. A result of the research shows that it is necessary to increase a number of workers attending to families in divorce, because numbers of divorced families are still growing. Due to an increase of the workforce, a quality of the offered service which is according to observed results rather good, could be improved. It was found out that the cooperation between state and private organizations works at a good level, individual institutions have information about activities of other workplaces and so they can refer clients to a professional help. Most organizations, where was the research conducted, have an aim to protect interests of the child. The most important thing for the staff of these organizations seems to be the least impair of the child´s development. They can see a roll of a mediator in divorce issue as a positive one, but they highlight the shortage of qualified mediators. To the topic of the parental alienation syndrome the workers say, that they meet it at their work. Recently manifestations of this syndrome have had more and more publicity, which fact workers do not evaluate very positively. As a result of this promotion there is increasing a number of cases, when parents feel a condemnation, even if it is not true in many cases. In practice the bachelor thesis can serve as an overview of services for families in divorce in České Budějovice and Prostějov. It can also establish priorities in the area of the divorce care and it can offer effective social measures in institutions dealing with family issues, family relationships, marital and family crises. The results can also become a basis for other studies and researches in that area.

RYSOVÁ, Zuzana
The work titled ,,Impact of marriage break-up on value orientation of children and youth{\crq}q deals with values and value system of youth, divorce of marriage, post-divorce family setup and impact of divorce on children. I have briefly discussed also issues concerning family and marriage. The purpose and aim of the work was to identify how children and youth understand and experience break-up of their parent{\crq}s marriage, how they managed to cope with this situation and if their moral development and value orientation have been affected. In relation to such objective I have brought up four hypothesis. Hypothesis H1: I assume that divorce of parents affects value scale of children and youth . Hypothesis H2: Divorce of parents predominantly evokes negative feelings, uncertainty, nostalgia. Hypothesis H3: Frustration related to family situation after divorce results in deterioration of school results of children and youth. And at the end the hypothesis H4: After divorce behavior of children and youth towards authorities and their surroundings deteriorates. I have chosen quantitative research for my work and used questioning method, questionnaire technique. The questionnaires have been designed for pupils and students of elementary and secondary schools in Písek and Strakonice. With regard to my hypothesis the research revealed interesting findings. Hypothesis H1 and H2 have been confirmed, however hypothesis H3 and H4 were negated. Therefore divorce impact on deterioration of behavior and school results of respondents has not been confirmed. The following interesting facts resulted from the research. I have found that every 4th pupil or student experienced divorce of his/her parents. The traditional post-divorce family setup still prevails, i.e. children are in the custody of their mother. Alternating or joint custody is quite exceptional as well as custody of a father. The work results are intended mainly for parents and social workers in order to understand what impact divorce may have on children and how important it is to provide them special care in these difficult times. Divorce does not necessarily need to have negative impact on children, if they do not experience hostility between parents and the post-divorce family setup is adopted to individual needs of all family members, i.e. also of children.
