Comparison of the basic life quality indicators of the population older than fifty years in the Czech Republic and Spain
Kadlecová, Michaela ; Malá, Ivana (advisor) ; Bílková, Diana (referee)
The work's content is an analysis of basic indicators of quality of life and their comparison between Czech Republic and Spain. The first section is focuses on the SHARE project (health research, aging and retirement in Europe). The data in the practical section were obtained through the SHARE project. The following four variables are considered: age, education, number of children and life happiness. These variables are visualised through contingency tables, bar charts and histograms that show the answer frequency. The work's ultimate goal is to find out the result differences between the mentioned countries, as well as to explain their causes.

Aging population Czech Republic
MÁROVCOVÁ, Veronika
The subject of this thesis is to show how the population of the Czech Republic ages. On one side is aging positive (eg. shows the increase in quality of life and improved health care), but on the other side has negative results. One of the most important is insufficient recovery of the productive population. The main part is divided into 5 parts. The first section summarizes the theory and the second part deals with the methods of population development. The third section presents the processes that affect the aging population. The next part is the evaluation of the aging population in the Czech Republic over the last 100 years. The last chapter of the main part deals with the regional differential aging in our country.
Care allowance as an instrument social services funding
Raif, Miroslav ; Jeřábková, Věra (advisor) ; Kozelský, Tomáš (referee)
The thesis deals with the contribution to care, a new method of financing social services. In the theoretical part, I compiled the knowledge that I gained by studying literature. It explains the basic concepts of social services and benefits of the care allowance. In the practical part is focused on the recording of population age structure, which largely contributes to the number and amount of benefits paid.

Changes in pension insurance system in respect to the demographic development in the Czech Republic
HADAČOVÁ, Tereza
This master{\crq}s thesis deals with the issue of the pension system in relation to the demographic development in the Czech Republic. In describes the pension system from its very beginning until the effective legislation regulated by Act No. 155/1995, on Pension Insurance. The Czech pension system is based on two pillars {--} the basic obligatory system of pension insurance where the principle of social solidarity is applied and that is based on continuous funding (PAYG), and the voluntary private pension scheme with a state contribution. The private scheme is conceived as individual savings and is based on capital funding. The financial balance of the pay-as-you-go system where the expenditures on the benefits for current pensioners are immediately paid from the funds of those who are economically active to a critical extent depends on the rate between the number of pensioners and the number of contribution payers. As the expenditure on old-age pension accounts for the highest share in the expenditure on pension insurance, the rate between the number of pensioners and the number of contribution payers is primarily determined by the age structure of the population. Similarly to all developed countries, the development of the age structure of the population of the Czech Republic is marked with ageing of population as a result of the stagnating or decreasing fertility and extension of the lifespan. Benefits derived from the period of insurance and generated earnings are then paid from the pension insurance. They include old-age pension, disability pensions, and survivors{\crq} pensions. The aim of this thesis was not only to map out the current situation, but to define pros and cons of effective legislation related to pension insurance based on interviews with employees of district social security administrations, taking into account the demographic development in the Czech Republic. It also aimed at establishing the opinion of the lay public on the operation of the existing system and providing it within the context of the answers given by the expert public. To achieve these objectives, the qualitative method of document analysis and questioning was applied. Research techniques included a secondary data analysis and a half-standardised interview. The reviewed set comprised 11 officers at pension departments of district social security administrations and 11 respondents from among the lay public. The results of the research show that the current setting of the pension system is regarded as rather negative. The changes that must be made must be comprehensive and going across multiple systems; with a functioning labour market and stable background for families with children being an utmost necessity. It is also necessary to change the thinking of the citizens of the Czech Republic where one should no longer rely on the state only, but build on a responsible approach to one{\crq}s life and provide for oneself with one{\crq}s own founds for any social event, not only including the loss of income due to old age. The opinions of the expert and lay public were the same in more than 80%. With respect to the information obtained, this thesis might be a useful contribution to the discussion on other legislative changes in the pension system with a subsequent positive impact when applied in practice.
Monitoring women age structure in the highest handball league"WHIL".\\
HROMÁDKOVÁ, Kateřina
The main objective of this thesis is to analyse changes of age structures of women players in the highest handball league ``WHIL{\crqq}. There are collected data from protocols from particular matches in matrixes and graphs. These data are divided according to the teams in individual seasons. We can analyse and compare those figures. Results show changes of age structure in particular teams and how did the age average of the whole league change in particular seasons.
The population age structure of South Bohemia and the concept of social care for older people
BARTKOVÁ, Veronika
The present work deals with the population age structure of South Bohemia in the years 1991 to 2007, with main focus on people over 65 years. In the introduction deals with the objectives and assumptions of work, literature searching and processing methodology. Other chapters deal with the analysis of population age structure and analysis of current capacity in social care for older people, specifically in homes for the elderly. It will identify areas with higher rates of the elderly population. The central part of the work is its own projection of population development of the South Bohemian Region and its districts until 2057, focusing on older people. The last chapter is devoted to forecast capacity needs of care facilities for older people in the medium term. Work is completed on the cartographic output, tables and graphs.
Impacts of predation on dynamics of an age-structured population: mathematical modelling and applications
PAVLOVÁ, Viola
Predation is one of the basic mechanisms of population growth control. Using a mathematical model, we explore the impact of predation in a prey population structured into two age classes, juveniles and adults, assuming a generalist predator. The specific predation pressure is represented for each of the two age classes by either no predation or Holling type II or Holling type III functional responses in various combinations. We distinguish two scenarios. In the first one, we seek for potential Allee effects or multiple stable states in the prey population, and explore the conditions at which the predation is more effective on juveniles than adults and vice versa. The most interesting finding here is the occurrence of bistability, or a predator-pit-like behaviour, when predators consume only juvenile prey, via a Holling type II functional response, an observation not described previously. In case only adults or both age classes are killed by predators exhibiting a type II functional response, the Allee effect occurs frequently. Multiple positive stable states are commonly observed if one of the age classes is exploited via a type III functional response. In the second scenario, we assume that the prey feeds on a resource and that the resource together with the prey undergoes outbreak dynamics, and we examine possibilities of control of such outbreaks using age-specific predation. Predation was proven to be able to suppress the prey population successfully. In some cases, an oscillation-free resource-prey-predator coexistence was detected.
Age structure, growth age and school success in boys attending the first and the fourth year of basic schools.
SÝKOROVÁ, Lenka
The work brings up age structure, growth age and school success in boys in the first and fourth year of primary school. The surveying took place at fourteen basic schools in České Budějovice and its proximity in 2006.The sample was made up of 225 pupils in the fourth year and 235 pupils in the first year. The survey focused on detecting differences in school success between pupils whose school attendance had been postponed and those who had entered primary school at due age. In addition, the work looks into problem of age growth and its potential impact on school success. Based on questionnaires, the views of pupils´parents and teachers at primary school were recorded. The sample was made of 326 parents and 40 teachers.
