Computing experience with IBM eServer x455 multiprocessor: the NUMA architecture and Itanium 2 processors
Jakl, Ondřej
The paper presents experience with a novel parallel IBM eServer xSeries 455 installed at the Institute of Geonics CAS, designated for demanding numerical computations, locally distinguished by its eight processors sharing large main memory. In particular, on specific benchmarks it compares performance of its Itanium 2 processors with other systems locally available and refers about problems related to the NUMA architecture of this machine.

Pravděpodobnostní návrh konstrukce vystavené všesměrnému zatížení větrem
Hanzlík, P. ; Marek, Pavel ; Němec, L.
The development of qualitatively new approaches to the structural design and reliability assessment corresponding to the computer era leads to introduction of non-traditional probabilistic Metod in codes. Application of these Metod in designer’s everyday work would require re-engineering of the entitě assessment procedure and transition from deterministi to probabilistic way of thinking of designers

Steel stuctures
Václavek, L. ; Marek, Pavel
The subject of the paper is a brief discussion on the transition of the reliability assessment of steel structures from the methods applied in the past and in current codes probabilistic methods corresponding to the extensive development of computers reliability theory. Assessment of a simple planar steel frame containing leaning columns serves for demonstration. The potential of probabilistic methods is emphasized.

Proudění kolem profilu v kanále s dynamickými účinky
Fürst, J. ; Honzátko, R. ; Horáček, Jaromír ; Kozel, K.
The work deals with a numerical solution of steady and unsteady 2D inviscid incompressible flow over the profile NACA 0012 in a channel. The flow is described by the system of Euler equations. Cell-centered finite-volume scheme at quadrilateral C-mesh is used. Steady state solutions and also unsteady flows caused by the prescribed oscillations of the profile were computed. The method of artificial compressibility and the time dependent method are used for computation of the steady state solution.

Steady and unsteady flow over a profile in a channel
Honzátko, R. ; Horáček, Jaromír ; Kozel, K.
The work deals with numerical solution of 2D inviscid incompressible flow over the profile NACA 0012 in a channel. The finite volume method in a form of cell-centered scheme at quadrilateral mesh is used. Governing system of equations is the system of Euler equations. Numerical results achieved at H-mesh and C-mesh are compared. The work presents computation of the steady states of the flow and also unsteady flow influenced by the prescribed oscillating behaviour of the profile.

Tool for finite seismic source parameters determination - Stopping phases method, ver. 2
Kolář, Petr
A special (interactive) Tool for particular processing of seismograms from West Bohemian seismic region has been already presented (TCP2011); the purpose of the study is to determine the parameter of (simplified) seismic source model. In the present contribution we inform about code current stage, processed data and obtained results (seismic swarms from 2000 and 2008 years were investigated), as well as about particular improvements and development, namely incorporation of (i) more precise onset time determination (with use of signal over-resampling), correction of effect of (ii) anisotropy and (iii) attenuation; the graphical appearance of the Tool has been also tuned.

Computational aeroacoustics of human phonation
Šidlof, Petr ; Zoerner, S.
The current paper presents a CFD model of flow past vibrating vocal folds coupled to an acoustic solver, which calculates the sound sources from the flow field in a hybrid approach. The CFD model is based on the numerical solution of 3D Navier-Stokes equations on a time-dependent domain, solved by cell-centered finite volume method. To capture the fine turbulent scales important for the acoustic source calculations, the equations are discretized and solved on large computational meshes up to 3.2M elements. The CFD simulations were run in parallel using domain decomposition method and OpenMPI implementation of the MPI standard. Aeroacoustic simulations are calculated in a separate step by Lighthill’s acoustic analogy, which determines the acoustic sources based on the fluid field. This is done with the research code CFS++ which employs the finite element method (FEM).

Large-scale computing on composite grids
Kohut, Roman
This paper concerns the numerical solution of linear elasticity BV problems on composite grids. The method was tested using both sequential and parallel codes.

Desing and modification of water-stabilized plasma generator and multiphase modelling of flow in the arc chamber
Hrabovský, Milan ; Matas, R. ; Moravec, J.
Two-phase water-air flow in arc chamber of water stabilized plasma generator is modeled using computer code FLUENT. Effect of arc chamber geometry on properties and stability of water vortex is investigated on the basis of the computations.

Computer simulation of up-hill diffusion in ČSN 17 242/P91 welded joint
Sopoušek, J. ; Million, Bořivoj ; Vřešťál, J.
The DICTRA software is used for simulating diffusion in multiphase diffusion couple ČSN 17242/P91 at temperature ranging 500-1100 C. The examples of calculated phase profiles, activity and concentration profiles of all species at selected condition are shown.
