Friction Modification within Wheel-Rail Contact
Galas, Radovan ; Meierhofer, Alexander (referee) ; Pfaff, Raphael (referee) ; Hartl, Martin (advisor)
Experimentální studium probíhalo v laboratorních i reálných podmínkách, konkrétně v tramvajovém provozu.

The aim of my Bachelor´s project is to form the search describing individual drive concepts of the all cars´ wheels. It is focused especially on the construction, working principle and usability of the particular concepts. The beginning of the thesis is interested in the the history as well as the advantages and disadvantages of this engineering solution. In the following part the most used drive concepts are described. The end of the project covers the summary of the acquired information and the consideration of how the all wheels´ drive will be developed in the following years.
Study of deformation and adhesion of cement adhesives at different stages of polymeric modification
Kozielová, Silvie ; Nováček,, Jaroslav (referee) ; Žižková, Nikol (advisor)
The content of the diploma thesis deals with the study of the flexibility and adhesion of cement tile adhesives, which are modified by a polymeric additive. The effects of the quantity and type of redispersible polymer powder used on the properties of the adhesives, in particular on the deformability of adhesives and their adhesion, are monitored. The theoretical part summarizes the basic data concerning classification of the ceramic tiles, information about the adhesives, the processed part concerning the polymer modified adhesives and the effects of the polymeric additives on their properties. The practical part deals primarily with the study of adhesion and flexibility of polymer modified adhesives and study of microstructure of selected materials.
Repairs of component contact area using Cold Spray technology
Matiash, Dmytro ; Válka, Libor (referee) ; Řehořek, Lukáš (advisor)
The aim of this master’s thesis was to evaluate cold spray technologies as an alternative method of repairing contact surfaces of parts, especially made of high-alloy manganese steels, to choose a suitable system of materials and to analyze the properties and structure of the produced coating. The thesis presents the basic of the mechanism of cold spray deposition, the described influence of basic process parameters on the structure and properties of metal coatings. Performed analysis of chemical composition, structure, porosity, hardness and strength of AISI H13 steel coating on a high-alloy manganese steel substrate. The described dependence of the structure and properties of a given coating on the heat treatment regime.
Braking marks creation analysis in dependence of vehicle deceleration
Svoboda, Lukáš ; Panáček, Vladimír (referee) ; Vémola, Aleš (advisor)
The work is divided into two parts – theoretical and practical. The first, theoretical part is focused to introduce the problematics to the reader, describing the concept of translation motion and brake physics, defining terms adhesion and friction, skid, calculation formulas etc. After the mechanics chapter follows the chapter about tire and its composition and properties, and a brake system chapter, describing Anti-lock brake system (ABS) and some other important brake-support systems. Second part of this thesis is focused on practical side, which contains acceleration measuring and skid marks creation, followed by evaluation of measured data in form of calculations and graphs.
Adhesion of a-SiOC:H films on planar substrates
Lepcio, Petr ; Salyk, Ota (referee) ; Čech, Vladimír (advisor)
This bachelor thesis deals with preparation of thin films of plasma polymers prepared by plasma-enhanced chemical vapor deposition. Tetravinylsilane was used as a monomer. Two sets of samples were prepared. Samples of the first set were prepared at different effective powers from pure tetravinylsilane and samples of the second set were prepared from deposition mixture of tetravinylsilane with different oxygen content at constant effective power. The film thickness was evaluated by spectroscopic ellipsometry and chemical structure by infrared spectroscopy. A scratch test was used to determine adhesion characterized by the critical normal load. An appearance of performed scratches was obtained by atomic force microscopy (AFM). Film adhesion influenced by the effective power and oxygen content in deposition mixture was discussed based on the received data.
Plasma surface modification of glass fibers and its optimization
Širjovová, Veronika ; Knob, Antonín (referee) ; Čech, Vladimír (advisor)
Diploma thesis deals with glass fiber surface modification using plasma-enhanced chemical vapor deposition in order to prepare functional interface that enhances the properties of polymer composites. The effect of deposition conditions on shear strength was observed with respect to the chemical composition of the deposited film. Thin films were deposited on planar substrates and fibers using monomer tetravinylsilane in a mixture with oxygen at selected power of plasma discharge. Chemical composition of prepared material was analyzed by infrared spectroscopy. Planar substrate film adhesion was measured using the scratch test. The composite sample was prepared by embedding the surface modified fibers in unsaturated polyester resin, followed by the curing process. The cured composite sample underwent the short beam shear test.

An Experimental Research of Sanding in Wheel/Rail Contact
Machatka, Martin ; Hruška, Marek (referee) ; Omasta, Milan (advisor)
Presented master's thesis is focused on the experimental research of the sanding parameters in order to improve adhesion in the contact between wheel and rail. Sanding is the application of the sanding material directly in the wheel/rail contact. It is still common, most effective and traditional way how to deal with low adhesion problem, which is mainly caused by environmental contaminants. Research is important for the better understanding of the sanding process and also provides data, which are necessary for it's optimization and efficiency improvement. Newly developed twin-disc machine was used to carry out the presented experimental research. The influence of common contaminants on the adhesion is investigated, considering various operating parameters. Different amount of the applied sand is used to increase adhesion in the contaminated contact at various slip and rolling speed. Results show, that there is the amount of the sand, from which no significant adhesion increase occur. Obtained findings and the results presented in this thesis will be used to optimize sanding system, which will contribute to reduce cost associated with sanding and low adhesion.
