From Slovak crown to euro

This bachelor thesis focuses on Slovak republic joining the European economic and monetary union and on the process of the adoption of the common currency, the Euro in Slovakia. First chapter concerns with the historic development of the economic and monetary union and important steps leading to its creation. Second chapter deals with Maastricht convergent criteria and their fulfilling by Slovak republic. The last chapter focuses on advantages and disadvantages of accepting the common currency and on its possible impacts on Slovak economy. The end of this chapter deals with feelings of Slovak population of adoption of the Euro in Slovakia.
Convergence of the Czech Republic to the EU-15 countries

Real and nominal convergence is an actual topic in majority of "new" member states of European union, especially, before entering EMU. This paper is dealing with convergence of the Czech Republic to the EU-15 countries and compares the level of convergence of our economy with some specific "new" members of EU. Work is devided into three main sections. First section is adressed to the definition of economic convergence as it is defined in standard economic literature. Second section deals with process of real convergence and its index on example of the Czech Republic including comparision with the selected countries of EU. Third section is devoted to the nominal convergence. The case of nominal convergence is also compared with the selected countries of EU and evaluation of fulfilment of maastricht convergence criterias by Czech Republic is carried out. Aim of this work is to provide complex view on the convergence of the Czech Republic to the "old" European union countries.
Fulfilment of the Maastricht criteria by the Czech Republic and benefits and costs of EMU accession

This bachelor thesis deals with the problem of fulfilment of the Maastricht criteria by the Czech Republic. It analyses several criteria. This thesis focuses on the area of its fulfilmment and the activities, in which improvements are needed. This thesis also analyses main benefits and costs of EMU accession. Important is, to find out possible disadvantages and find the best way, how to remove them effectively. Next problematic area is the real convergence criteria, which means preparedness of Czech republic to join to the euro area. The next important area of thesis is procedure and preparation phase of entrance Czech republic to the euro area. Národní koordinační skupina play an important role in that. They work up a national plan, in which authorities and office particular departments are obviously divided. Aim is ensure a smooth replacement of czech crowns to euro.
