Exploration of Multimedia Collections
Moško, Juraj ; Skopal, Tomáš (advisor)
Multimedia retrieval systems are supposed to provide the method and the interface for users to retrieve particular multimedia data from multimedia collections. Although, many different retrieval techniques evolved from times when the search in multimedia collections firstly appeared as a research task, not all of them can fulfill specific requirements that the multimedia exploration is determined for. The multimedia exploration is designated for revealing the content of a whole multimedia collection, quite often totally unknown to the users who retrieve data. Because of these facts a multimedia exploration system has to solve problems like, how to visualize (usually multidimensional) multimedia data, how to scale data retrieval from arbitrarily large collections and how to design such an interface that the users could intuitively use for the exploration. Taking these problems into consideration, we proposed and evaluated ideas for building the system that is well-suited for the multimedia exploration. We outlined the overall architecture of a multimedia exploration system, created the Multi-Layer Exploration Structure (MLES) as an underlying index structure that should solve problems of efficient and intuitive data retrieval and we also proposed definitions of exploration operations as an interactive and...

Jozífová, Kristýna ; Fiala, Miloš (advisor) ; Vilášek, Josef (referee)
Title: The analysis of the activities of rescue dogs in the Integred Rescue System. Objectives: To analyze the frequency of deploying dogs in action under the Integrated Rescue Systém for the period 2009 to 2011. Describe reasons for Access and silure to deploy dogs in the IRS. Method: Research of available sources, data collection. Results: Every year is the use of increasingly cynological pairs. Most service dogs are being used. At the request of debris search requirements are mainly from the Fire and Rescue Service area search by police of the Czech Republic. Keywords: Integrated Rescue Systém, dog, debris search, area search.
GPU Accelerated Adversarial Search
Brehovský, Martin ; Bošanský, Branislav (advisor) ; Bída, Michal (referee)
General purpose graphical processing units were proven to be useful for accelerating computationally intensive algorithms. Their capability to perform massive parallel computing significantly improve performance of many algorithms. This thesis focuses on using graphical processors (GPUs) to accelerate algorithms based on adversarial search. We investigate whether or not the adversarial algorithms are suitable for single instruction multiple data (SIMD) type of parallelism, which GPU provides. Therefore, parallel versions of selected algorithms accelerated by GPU were implemented and compared with the algorithms running on CPU. Obtained results show significant speed improvement and proof the applicability of GPU technology in the domain of adversarial search algorithms.
Design of search engine for modern needs
Maršálek, Tomáš ; Palovská, Helena (advisor) ; Strossa, Petr (referee)
In this work I argue that field of text search has focused mostly on long text documents, but there is a growing need for efficient short text search, which has different user expectations. Due to this reduced data set size requirements different algorithmic techniques become more computationally affordable. The focus of this work is on approximate and prefix search and purely text based ranking methods, which are needed due to lower precision of text statistics on short text. A basic prototype search engine has been created using the researched techniques. Its capabilities were demonstrated on example search scenarios and the implementation was compared to two other open source systems representing currently recommended approaches for short text search problem. The results show feasibility of the implemented prototype regarding both user expectations and performance. Several options of future direction of the system are proposed.
Graphic Animation of Problem Solving Methods
Macek, Jiří ; Jurka, Pavel (referee) ; Zbořil, František (advisor)
There are many kinds of implementation artificial intelligence for automatic solving problems by computer technology. The main topics of this bachelor's thesis are some typical methods, describing of their features, comparing them among and shows some useful techniques of algoritmization and implementation too. Main purpose of this thesis is creating application, which clearly demonstrates at chosen problems methods of their solving.
Searching Acoustic Patterns in Speech Data without Recognition
Skácel, Miroslav ; Fapšo, Michal (referee) ; Černocký, Jan (advisor)
This work investigates into methods for words, word phrases and longer segments detection in large speech data sets in an unsupervised way. At first, basics for the given topic and principles of modern methods for searching of repeating objects are introduced. The representation and segmentation of the input data are described. Techniques for object detection in speech are presented. The description of found motifs modelling follows. The next step defi nes data sets for experiments in which spoken term detection by an example is performed. The system requirements are described. In the conclusion, the work is summarised and suggestions for further development are discussed.
"Prednasky.com" - System as a Module
Peša, Jan ; Beran, Vítězslav (referee) ; Szőke, Igor (advisor)
This diploma thesis first introduces the services of servers Prednasky.com and SuperLectures.com. After analyzing the solution it describes the design and development of a new dedicated video player that combines SuperLectures.com functionality as a web-embeddable HTML5 application.
The Comparison of the Algorithms for the Solution of Travel Sales Problem
Kopřiva, Jan ; Všetička, Martin (referee) ; Dostál, Petr (advisor)
The Master Thesis deals with logistic module innovation of information system ERP. The principle of innovation is based on implementation of heuristic algorithms which solve Travel Salesman Problems (TSP). The software MATLAB is used for analysis and tests of these algorithms. The goal of Master Thesis is the comparison of selections algorithm, which are suitable for economic purposes (accuracy of solution, speed of calculation and memory demands).
Pallet loading problem and using one of its heuristics for box placement on pallets in a warehouse
Rybka, Ondřej ; Pelikán, Jan (advisor) ; Rada, Miroslav (referee)
This work concerns new borders, heuristics, algoritms and mathematic models of pallet loading problem (PLP). We try to describe these computational methods and find out if we can use them in real. We maximalize number of boxes placed on rectangular pallets in a particular warehouse by using chosen heuristics. Every box has a rectangular form with the same lenght and width and is fully placed on the pallet. We can rotate with the box by 90% degree until it is fixed as we want and its side lies parallelly with side of the pallet. All instances are setted in model (X, Y, a, b), where X is lenght, Y width of the pallet, a lenght and b width of the box.
