Acquiring of a Foreign-Language Experience by Children of a Pre-School Age by the Integration of Music Activities
Píclová, Olga ; Kodejška, Miloš (advisor) ; Váňová, Hana (referee)
The objective of this thesis is to create a method for gaining foreign-language experience by 5-6 year olds learning English. The method is based on interconnecting artistic activities with English words and basic collocations. Through singing, games, movement and playing Orffs instruments, English words and phrases are more easily stored in the children's memories. The elementary artistic activities are associated with the emotional feelings. This is a way to deepen interest in the English language. The thesis also includes research that is evaluated in the final part. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)

Basketball in Specialized Classes

Multidimensional Indexing for relational DBMS
Hoksza, David ; Kopecký, Michal (referee) ; Skopal, Tomáš (advisor)
The goal of this work was to implement a multidimensional indexing method into a database system and compare this method with existing implemtations of multidimensional indexing methods in current database platforms (MSSQL, Oracle, ... ). PostgreSQL was chosen for the implementation, because it suits the requirements of integrating own access methods in a modular way. The active development comunity which this platform unites has also played a part, since it assures help with problems related to the development. Last but not least, PostgreSQL was also chosen because its source code is accessible This was priceless in the effort of understanding the core of PostgreSQL (mainly work with memory), which has direct influence on user defined access methods, especially indexes. An already existing implementation of R-tree over object framework ATOM was used as an indexing method, which allows implementing of persistent tree structures. As a direct consequence of the work, not only has arised the implementation of Rtree in PostgreSQL, but also a generic framework which allows implementing external indexing in PostgreSQL with a minimum knowledge of how PostgreSQL works. The user of the framework implements his/her own persistent searchnig methods and connects these methods to the mentioned framework, which provides...

CZECH NATURALISTIC RURAL DRAMA IN POSTMODERN PRODUCTIONS
Pokorný, Vít ; VEDRAL, Jan (advisor) ; FRANZ, Vladimír (referee)
This thesis analyses several plays of postmodern Czech naturalistic rural drama. By using comprehensive analysis and numerous examples, the work deals with the key question why traditional realistic dramas based on the mimetic principles are so attractive for the nonconformist and provocative authors, generally known as postmodernists. The work introduces the term postmodernism as a new philosophical way of seeing Euro-American civilization but also as an artistic style, which gives these thoughts an aesthetical basis in the context of Czech and also world history and culture. To get the essential knowledge of the topic, the main principles of realistic and naturalistic poetics are introduced. The work is trying to find an answer to the question ask above by analysing seven plays of postmodern Czech naturalistic rural drama. The analysis is based on experience of spectators and readers and also numerous examples from postmodern literature, film, fine art and music. The key factor of this analysis is the conflict of archetypal human essence and today often discussed absence of transpersonal order, which affects humans even against their will. The interpreted texts work with the topics of human struggle with love, faith, responsibility and compassion, which seem to be very attractive for the postmodern artists. These kinds of texts can give us an evidence of the epoch we live in. Whether the personal freedom ruined human faith in some greater sense or the sexual revolution actually buried the metaphysical essence of love. As an author, I came to the conclusion, that discussed plays demonstrates a postmodern human as a schizophrenic being, denying under the influence of general moral status existence of universally valid order, in spite of seeking this order in its soul desperately. Introducing my own concept of “the great second”, I try to defend my conviction, that in this exhausting struggle, the art can be for human desired, purifying and fulfilling power

Transformations of the Gothic in Victorian Ghost Stories
Bambušková, Tereza ; Wallace, Clare (advisor) ; Beran, Zdeněk (referee)
Thesis abstract This thesis will focus on the ways in which the transformations in nineteenth-century Gothic stories mirror the gradual changes in the Victorian society's notions about perception and about the metaphysical. The nineteenth century marks a time when advances in science made it clear that not seeing something does not mean that it does not exist, and when psychologists made it clear that seeing something does not necessarily mean it does exist. Moreover, the nineteenth century was a time when religious notions that were previously accepted without question started to be doubted. When people lost their faith in the unseen and at the same time became aware that their eyes are not sufficient to see everything and that their mind may play tricks on them, the notion of reality was increasingly problematized, which is made especially clear in the genre of the Gothic. It could be argued that while the basic tropes of the Gothic remain more or less the same; however, the way they are used, the reactions of the protagonists as well as the general outlook of the story are problematized by newly introduced ideas about vision and human mind. It could be said that in many cases there is no longer a clear boundary between the protagonist and the 'other' of the story, which can often be interpreted as an...
