Selected Aspects of Day Care Services Development in the Czech Republic
FORMÁNKOVÁ, Petra
The development of social services and de facto day care, too, is influenced by numerous circumstances, the significance of which changes depending on particular historic conditions in individual regions. That these circumstances are mainly of demographic, socio-economic and socio-political character. The main purpose of this dissertation was, therefore, to find a relation between selected aspects of day care (territorial profile, legislative change and profile of an organisation providing day care) and the development of day care (by means of increasing the number of its users; increasing the exploitation of tasks; developing the temporal and territorial availability of the service; through the range of optional services on offer; increasing quality of the services provided, and by improving the system of funding). In order to achieve such goals, I intended to take advantage of the mixed research approach from the very beginning. In order to describe and analyze the degree of independence of variables, quantitative research methods were used, which were applied both with the usage of secondary data analysis, and by the means of survey. In order to have a better understanding of the relation between selected aspects of day care and its development, a qualitative method was chosen since it was presumed that it was on the basis of an interpretation of information provided by "practicing experts" that the wider context of the issue under observation could be grasped. The research makes it clear that mutual relations between selected characteristics of territorial profile and the number of day care users in the Czech Republic is significantly diversified. Despite this diversity, several common features of the territorial profile were identified, and these features have an impact on the development of day care in the country. When asked to evaluate the territorial availability of day care after the passing of Act No. 180/2006 Coll., on Social Services, respondents claimed that no significant changes have occurred. The law has been in force for seven years, but providers of day care services do not notice any greater interest in their services. On the contrary; the scope of tasks performed by the day care personnel is experiencing a decreasing trend. It was proven that particularly religious or regional organisations providing day care services bring greater territorial availability of the service, and, besides that, take care of the expanding temporal availability of their services on a more frequent basis. The providers have confirmed that, as far as providing day care services, Act No. 108/2006 Coll., on Social Services, has brought about mainly qualitative changes which are stipulated by defined rules, control mechanisms and the individualisation of the service. In spite of its indisputable pros, however, the act should be improved, especially when it comes to the current funding of the service and the quality of inspections by the social services.
Day care as an alternative for preschool children´s care in Germany
MASSET, Ljuba Natalie
This thesis focuses on the day care system in Germany. It aims at determining the benefits and shortcomings of teaching processes in day care from the perspective of parents and teachers. It also aims to compare the process of social integration between children educated in day care and children educated in kindergarten. The theoretical aspect of this thesis focuses on the issues of institutional care of young children, its opportunities, and potential risks, including the various forms this care is carried out. Relevant sections of policies and legislations for preschool education in Germany are discussed in relation to the issues, opportunities and risks identified. Recommended conditions of education in kindergartens and day care facilities are also proposed, including the number of children in groups, or joining the children in age-homogeneous or age-heterogeneous groups. In the practical section, interviews were carried out with teachers and parents about their views and satisfaction regarding the institution their children attend. Several methodologies were considered, such as interviews and surveys, and interviewing was chosen to obtain deeper insight. The gathered information was qualitatively processed. A short conclusion of findings learned from parents and teachers should be provided.

Reasons for selecting services provided by clients in day-care homes in the region of České Budějovice
PODHORCOVÁ, Naděžda
Reasons for selecting services provided by clients in day-care homes in the region of České Budějovice Abstract Day care is a traditional social service that is provided, as a field or outpatient service, to persons with limited self-sufficiency due to their age, chronic disease or handicap, and to families with children whose situation requires assistance from another person. Day care provides individual tasks at home according to a schedule arranged in advance. The theoretical section of this diploma paper provides explanations of the following terms: senior citizen, aging, geriatrics and gerontology. The other sections deal with the legislature related to the issues of aging, social services and social work with senior citizens. The objective of the paper was to find out which services, out of a wide spectrum offered, senior citizens in day-care homes choose and the reasons of their choices. The method of qualitative survey was used with the technique of questioning through a standardized interview technique. The respondents were selected on the basis of a stratified selection from four day-care homes in the region of České Budějovice. The results of the paper have answered the set research questions. Day-care clients require most frequently the following services: delivery of meals, household cleaning and maintenance, washing and ironing of clothes, assistance with personal hygiene, and measurements of physiological functions. The reasons of selecting these services are a poor health state and also the fact that the clients do not have anybody who would provide them with such assistance. In the event that day-care services are free of charge, less than a half of the respondents would use other services as well. The respondents{\crq} answers in my research enable me to assume that the financial availability of provided day-care services is good. The results of my diploma paper will be offered to the founder and provider of social services in day-care homes in the region of České Budějovice and also, as informative material, to the Municipal Office in Týn nad Vltavou.
Changes in the Lifestyle of Senior Citizen in Relation to Used Social Services of Changes in the lifestyle of senior citizens in relation to used social services of "Day Care"
KŘÍHOVÁ, Dana
This diploma paper deals with the changes in the lifestyle of senior citizens in relation to used social services of ``Day Care{\crq}q. At the present time, demographic survey findings show that the number of senior citizens is growing. This trend goes hand in hand with the issue of housing senior citizens that is seen as pressing. Naturally, every senior person sees a home as a place where they live. However, there are sometimes situations when the health state of a senior person does not allow them to live in their natural environment any longer and their family are not able, cannot or even do not want to look after them. There is a pressing need to move such a person to a different facility where they find all necessary care. One of many housing options can be seen in living at a day-care house. Clients find necessary services here that help them to remain self-reliant, be it partly, as long as possible. The objective of the paper was to find out about the changes that take place in the lifestyle of senior citizens after moving them to a day-care house, about the reasons of moving and, last but not least, about the use of the social service on offer. A qualitative research mode was adopted to acquire the results, in particular the method of controlled interview and clients{\crq} case reports. A secondary analysis of data from clients{\crq} social documentation was used to complement the research. The research was carried out with nine respondents chosen at random at three day-care houses in the region of České Budějovice operated by company Ledax o.p.s. The interviews were based on a list of questions and topics prepared in advance. The basic criterion chosen was a satisfactory health and mental state of the respondents enabling the interviews to take place. The responses obtained through the research interviews show the senior citizens are happier in their new dwellings and they perceive their move to a day-care house positively. Based on the research, I presume that the set objectives have been met. The diploma paper can be used to deepen the informedness of other senior citizens and the members of their families of housing options and the use of social services in day-care houses. This paper may be used as feedback for staff at day-care houses in relation to their clients{\crq} satisfaction with offered social services.
