Home Hospice Care
KOHOUTOVÁ, Lucie
Dying and death are topics which most people do not wish to talk about. However, at some point they touch every individual and therefore it is necessary, especially in social spheres, to confront these issues. This assignment concentrates on discovering the hurdles which people meet when caring for loved ones who are terminally-ill at home. The goal of this study is not to eliminate all possible hurdles that hamper care of the dying, but rather facilitate knowledge to those who are interested in giving this kind of care. The theoretical part obtains information about hospice care, further detailed characteristics of home hospice care and a focus on the family as the main source of this care. The research part is made up of a qualitative survey and to collect data a partially-prepared interview was used. The people who were interviewed comprised of fifteen relatives of clients from the Tereza Treatment Centre in Prague 10. In view of the goal of this work, as described above, the following research question was used: What hurdles do family members face when offering terminally-ill relatives care during their final stages at home? The answer to this gave the following as hurdles: physically demanding care, disruption of family relationships, inability to ensure continual care for the terminally-ill, financially demanding care, psychological demanding care, inability to give expert health care, limits associated with accommodation and worsening care of hygiene of the terminally-ill. One overall goal of this study was to discover what is actually known about home hospice care. The research showed that it is unsatisfactory. Only three out of fifteen of those questioned were able to characterise this form of care. Home hospice care is a needed part of care for the dying and therefore a bigger emphasis should be made on the spreading and building up of a net of home hospices and also on the removal of hurdles which hamper this care. Either of these cannot be realised without increasing public awareness.

Tactile book as one of tools for visually impaired children development
FLÍČKOVÁ, Radka
This bachelor´s thesis deals with the topic of tactile books as means of the development of a child with visual impairments. Its theoretical part is divided into four chapters which handle an individual with visual impairments, classification of people with visual impairments, specific development of a child of preschool age with this kind of impairment, tactile viewing, tyflographics and production of books with tactile illustrations. The main aim of my thesis was to find out the opinions of the parents who have children with visual impairments on tactile books and also to find out which possibilities these books offer to children. For that, I have specified seven survey questions. The first survey question was focused on where it is possible to borrow the tactile books. The second question concerns whether these books are of a good quality, interesting for parents and children and if there is enough of them. The third question dealt with the differences in reading of tactile books which depend on the rate of the handicap and child´s gender. In the fourth question children´s reactions to these books were examined. In the fifth question the parents were asked whether they find these books useful for their children or not. Then in the sixth question I examined which abilities of the disabled children are developing during the work with this book. Finally, the seventh question dealt with factors which influence the work of preschool child with the tactile book. The examined target group consists of parents of children with visual impairments in the Czech Republic and a blind preschool boy. The qualitative research strategy was used and the data were collected on the basis of semi-structured interviews, observation and document analysis. Most of the families have their books sent by post. The waiting time for the book depends on whether it is available or not. According to the provided answers, parents have enough books and they consider them to be of a good quality. They mostly said that a parent reads aloud to a child, tries to get him involved in the story, explains and helps with tactile reading. Blind children are usually first focused on a detail and there is an equal ratio of boys and girls. The children do not have any problems with materials during tactile viewing. Mostly the parents said that children use the book several times in a row. The parents see the main benefit of these books in the fact that their combine auditive sensation with tactile sensation, develop communication skills, imagination and they also introduce the world of healthy people to these children. Considering the results of my investigation, I would say that the tactile book can be perfect tool for improving the child´s manual dexterity, speech and communication, space and space-time orientation, tactile and auditory perception, memory, thought, attention, social relations. My experience gained during observation of the blind boy working with the tactile book leads me to the conclusion that many factors such as motivation, attention, the person working with the child, place, mood, position of the child, health condition and the book itself are important.

The role of the nurse taking care of patients with breast cancer.
KRBCOVÁ, Julie
The actual issue regarding the female population consists in a high incidence of pathological breast findings that can be benign but even most frequently malign. For my bachelor thesis, I chose the theme "The Role of a Nurse in Providing Nursing Care for Women with Breast Tumors", because these issues remain still topical. Basic theoretical grounds of the thesis describe female breast anatomy and pathology. They inform us about problems regarding the causes of the tumor disease and the most common symptoms of the disease. The use of up-to-date diagnostic methods (primarily mammography) and their wide accessibility within a screening program take a significant part in a high percentage of early detected stages of the disease. Breast tumor surgery belongs to the operations demanding from both physical and psychic aspects. The role of a general nurse in providing preoperative and primarily postoperative care is important. A nurse provides a complex nursing care, observes nursing care principles to satisfy individual patient? needs. A nurse does not forget to give information, minds the education, sympathetic access and psychic support of a patient. This bachelor thesis was devoted to the issues of a nurse role in providing postoperative nursing care to patients with breast tumor. The first objective was to describe specific aspects of nursing care in patients after surgery for breast tumor. The second objective was to find out the role of a nurse within a postoperative period in patients with breast tumor. Two research questions were set to fulfill those objectives. The first research question: "Which specific nursing activities does a nurse perform within a postoperative period in patients after breast surgery?" The second research question: "What role does a nurse hold within a postoperative period in patients with breast tumor?" A qualitative research inquiry was used to process the research part of this bachelor thesis. A semi-structured interview was used as a data collection method. The research inquiry was performed in the Department of Surgery of the České Budějovice Hospital, Inc. The first research question surveyed specific nursing activities of nurses performed in patients after surgery for breast tumor. The answers showed that nurses were familiar with specific nursing activities which they performed within postoperative period in patients with breast tumor. Specific aspects described by both the nurses and patients are narrowly associated with the intervention they underwent and which is specific itself. The second research question found out the roles of a nurse within a postoperative period in patients with breast tumor. From the results of answers given by both nurses and patients is clear that the following roles of a nurse were fulfilled: a communicator, an educator and a bearer of changes. Some educational and illustrative tools (silicone breast phantom for the self-examination instruction) intended for nursing personnel are one of the possibilities how to achieve an effective application of nursing interventions in breast tumor prevention and how to help nurses to improve the relation of communication and education on these issues. The results of my bachelor thesis could be used as an information material that could serve to an improvement of the quality and effectiveness in nursing care for the experienced nurses as well as for beginning ones who meet such patients at their job. The results of my research inquiry could be used as basic material to elaborate some lecture for a professional seminary or conference intended for nurses.

Position and Responsibilities of Parents in Relation to Mandatory Vaccination
FANFULOVÁ, Iveta
The BA thesis deals with the attitudes of parents to compulsory vaccination. The aim was to find out what the attitudes of parents to compulsory vaccination are in České Budějovice. The thesis is divided into two independent parts. A content analysis of relevant documents was used in the theoretical part which also explains and defines concepts associated with the above mentioned subject. The theoretical part is followed by research which was carried out by means of a survey, i.e. a semi-structured interview technique. At the same time, a method of observation, i.e. a technique of structured observation with pre-defined observed phenomena, was also employed. A total of 10 parents living in České Budějovice took part in the research. A main research question was set, and so were four subsidiary questions which were necessary for its answering and which focused on what experience parents had with compulsory vaccination, on the assessment of the current vaccination system, on the behaviour of parents in the case of a transfer to voluntary vaccination and on possible objections to compulsory vaccination. The results of the research show that a majority of the chosen parents has a positive attitude to compulsory vaccination and that most parents agree with preserving its compulsory character. At the same time they responded that if this vaccination were to become voluntary, they would nevertheless have their children vaccinated. The BA thesis and the results of its research can serve as a source of information for parents who are interested in the issue of compulsory vaccination.

Healthy aging in the context of nursing care
RADOVÁ, Ludmila
Healthy Ageing Programme is a concept which should have a significant influence on every resident in the countries where population median age has been quickly increasing. This topic of healthy ageing is the key issue of the given Master´s Diploma Thesis. At the present, our country is involved not only in several smaller-scale regional programmes focused on lives of seniors but also in the events of European importance. If we want to provide our seniors with a quality life in all aspects, it is necessary to encourage promoting Healthy Ageing Programme. The wide scope of activity is thus open, especially for nurses. The first objective develops the approach of seniors in the selected health-care facilities to healthy ageing. The second objective introduces the approach of a client before retirement age to the healthy ageing principles. Finally, the third objective specifies the role of general practice nurses in their support of clients before retirement age in their healthy ageing. Research questions included the following issues: the approach of a client at the age before retirement to the healthy ageing principles and the role of a general practice nurse and her support of the abovementioned clients. The given research also develops one hypothesis regarding the fact that personal objectives will change depending on barriers. Both qualitative and quantitative research was used in the given Diploma Thesis. An in-depth interview was conducted during the survey. Additional information was obtained on the basis of an opinion poll. Two research groups were used for the interview: the first one consisted of 11 respondents from the general practitioner´s outpation departments, the second research group consisted of 6 nurses working for the aforementioned departments. The total number of 150 respondents from the designated health-care facilities was selected for the survey during which they were answering the research questions. As a result, a large number of useful information was obtained. The clients' approach can be divided into several groups: leisure activities, education, workload, prevention and medical examinations, regimen, community nursing care, healthy ageing. The key roles of a nurse should take into consideration the following aspects: healthy ageing from the nurse´s point of view, prevention and geriatric nurse at the outpatient department, community nursing care, health support of the patients provided by a nurse. Information obtained from the interviews were interconnected and often corresponded with each other. Research questions are also followed by the given results. A nurse has a significant role in the area of education, provision of necessary information to the clients, promotion of prevention programmes informing the clients about the solution to their problems. The motivation of clients before retirement age is also crucial because it is at this age when people can influence their life, its length and quality. The survey also observes the general perception of people of an old age and changes in their point of view with age. The information collected from this survey may be also used in different studies in order to improve both quality of nursing care and motivation of the clients before their retirement.

Neds of women with gestational diabetes mellitus
MALÁTOVÁ, Gabriela
The thesis is focused on the needs of women with Gestational Diabetes Mellitus. The survey was carried out in the hospital, in Ceske Budejovice, in the department of risk pregnancies and in the gynecological surgery of Dr. Výborné in Ceske Budejovice. The research method was qualitative. It was conducted in the form of interviews with women who attended the department of risk pregnancies and who have been diagnosed with Gestational Diabetes Mellitus and also in the gynecological surgery. The information was then processed into short case studies. The thesis had three goals. The first objective was to determine what are the needs of women with Gestational Diabetes Mellitus. The second objective was to determine how women, who have been diagnosed with Gestational Diabetes, follow and comply with the prescribed diets. The third objective was to determine what information is known to the women who have been diagnosed with Gestational Diabetes Mellitus. Based on these findings, 3 research questions have been specified. The first research question was concerned with the needs of pregnant women with Gestational Diabetes Mellitus. The second research question was concerned with the appropriate food for women with Gestational Diabetes Mellitus. The third research question was concerned with the awareness of women with Gestational Diabetes Mellitus. One of the objectives was to find out what are the needs of women with Gestational Diabetes. All three women responded that there was a great need for good nutrition. The need for sleep, was for all the women about the same, they sleep up to 8-9 hours per day. The need for movement is very important for Mrs. Jane, Mrs. Petra avoids extensive physical excercise due to an adverse gynecological finding and Mrs. Ivana prefers family walks in the nature. Another objective was to find out how Mrs. Jana, Mrs. Petra and Mrs. Ivana follow and keep to the dietary regime. Answer to the question of how they have changed their eating habits, Mrs. Petra said , that she has had a problem with limiting sugars, but after a few days she got used to it and she drinks mostly water and unsweetened tea. Mrs. Jana had no problem with it, she has small children and she cooks light meals for them and she eats with them. She didn't have to alter her eating habits too much, she only left out some types of fruits. Mrs. Ivana had no problem in changing the diet, as even before she was diagnosed with Gestational Diabetes, she ate lots of vegetables and poultry meat and very rarely ate sweet things. The third objective, which was to determine how informed are the women with regards to the Gestational Diabetes Mellitus, has been fulfilled. When asked, what and when do they receive most most information, all three women agreed. In the first instance Mrs. Jana received the information from her doctor in the surgery and after that from the midwife. Mrs. Petra was first given information by the doctor in gynecological surgery and at the same time by the midwife and immediately after that she had been transferred to the Diabetologist, where she went for a monthly check up. The Diabetologists gave Mrs. Petra information about the appropriate food and distribution of the food during the day. Mrs. Ivana got her first information and practical advice from her doctor in the gynecological surgery, then she was transferred to the care of the Diabetologist, where she was given, appart from the information, also leaflets about suitable food composition and appropriate diet during her treatment of diabetes.

The specifics of nursing care of patient with lymphoma
ŠTOKSOVÁ, Lucie
This thesis deals with the nursing care of patients with lymphoma. Patients with this disease experience considerable fatigue and their condition may be worsened by complications associated with treatment. The most common complications that occur during treatment include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and inflammation of the oral cavity. The role of nurses is effective nursing care for patients, psychological support and adequate communication. The thesis is divided into two sections, a theoretical section and a research section. The theoretical part describes the characteristics of the disease, the treatment and the nursing care of patients with lymphoma. In the research part a quantitative survey, using anonymous questionnaires from nurses, was used and qualitative research was conducted using interviews with patients. The first stated aim of this thesis was to discover the level of knowledge of nurses about the nursing care of patients with lymphoma. The second objective was to determine whether the current nursing care for patients with lymphoma contributes to the improvement of their psychological state. The hypothesis chosen for the first part was: Nurses are informed about the nursing care of patients with lymphoma. The answer to this hypothesis is: Yes, nurses are informed about the nursing care of patients with lymphoma. The research question chosen for the second part was: How does nursing care contribute to improving the psychological state of patients with lymphoma? The answer to this question is: Nursing care helps to improve the psychological state of patients with the opportunity to cooperate with a psychologist, the support of medical staff and adequately informing patients about the course of treatment and nursing care. This work may serve not only as additional information for nurses who encounter patients with the disease lymphoma, but also for nurses who wish to obtain information about the disease. It is important that nurses apply their theoretical knowledge in practice.

The concept of death in existentialist mean
NAGYOVÁ, Andrea
The main question of this work is which view existentialists philosophers have about the death. The main intentension of this work is to demonstrate the different kinds of understanding the death by individual authors. We look for the answers of the questiones, if we can find the different forms of the death. The questiones, which way authors akcept the dead in their works, or if being of the death affect their work. At the end I want to refer of the question of life after the death. If authors belived in the life after the dead or if they didn´t. The work is written with consciousness, that the death has its own secret, that is hardly to answer.
