Alfred de Musset and his dramatic work

The purpose of this study is to define different types of love in selected theatre plays of Alfred de Musset. I also partly focused in his plays on social questions, negative characters and unconventional theatrical methods. At first I introduced the work and important moments of writer's life which were often an inspiration for his stories and characters. I also outlined the brief history of romantic theatre and finally analyzed the theatre plays. The selected analyzes include the extracts illustrating the types of loves or unique traits of characters. The contribution of this study consists in defining the original method the author used to describe the profundity of the feelings of his characters. Cultural Differences between the British and the American Version of the TV Series "The Office"

The aim of this bachelor thesis is to analyse cultural differences between the British and the American society on the basis of a British sitcom called "The Office" and its American adaptation. In the first chapter of the thesis we learn the basic information about the sitcom. In chapter two there is an explanation of how could the sitcom became so popular in the US. In the second part of the same chapter we look into general differences in filming the UK and the US sitcoms. With the third chapter the analysis of the sitcom "The Office" starts. It begins with a description of its plot-line and the main characters then it moves on to analyse differences between the main characters. After this, a topic of cultural and social phenomena in the present-day UK and US society is examined. The analysis ends with the discussion on the topic of humour and its differences in the UK and the US version of the sitcom.
The Portrayal of Czech Society in Petr Schulhoff's Film Comedies of the Normalization Era

Submitted thesis The Portrayal of Czech Society in Petr Schulhoff's Film Comedies of the Normalization Era analyses the cinematography of the Czechoslovak Republic in the seventies and the eighties through the topic of social a ideological values which they present. Its primary concern is the question what are selected movies saying about Czechoslovak social reality of that time and which instruments of semiotic mediations are used for this purpose. The main assumption of the work is that also escapist entertainment described the era, setting and characters according to norms dictated by the communist government and thus help to stabilize the system.
Theme of love in Moliere's main works

This bachelor's thesis theme is an analysis of love in selected Moliere's works. Love is present as an element that shapes various characters in author's works. They most frequently dissert with love of young people whose parents are laying obstacles in the way of their love. In some cases, love has even a more important role (Misantrop). It can even be the substance of the relevant work, as is the case of Don Juan and, in a way, of Amfitryon. School for Wives and the texts related to it are a specific case, whereas not only love is in question but the matters of woman's lot itself. The goal of this thesis is to show in which aspects we can find the theme of love in Moliere's works and what importance it has in his plays.
Carlo Goldoní's comedies

The abstract and key words The aim of the thesis "Carlo Goldoni's comedies" is a literally analysis of three comedies which belong into three different groups. The introduction is focused on Goldoni's period, i.e. 18th century. The second part describes the playwright's life and gives an overview of his most popular works. The subsequent chapters analyze each of the three comedies in detail. The first one is dealing with Il Servitore di due padroni (The Servant of Two Masters) which is influenced by Commedia dell'arte. The second comedy, La Locandiera (The Mistress of the Inn) is devoted to the character's comedy. The last one, La Bottega del caffè (The Coffee Shop) represents typical example of the comedy of ambience. The closing chapter is focused on the evolutional tendencies of Goldoni's dramatic production. Molière in modern Czech theatre

Abstract: The thesis treats the works of Jean-Baptiste Poquelin also known as Molière and their legacy in modern Czech theatre. It characterizes French society of the seventeenth century and the main features of contemporary philosophical and artistic styles, focusing on the dramatic creation of classicism. It also summarizes the life of Molière and his work, subdividing it according to generic, formal and thematic criteria. Within this frame, it gives a detailed analysis of the most important plays, representing the individual categories. It also studies the modern Czech theatrical stage. Focusing on the historical context, it explores the development of the stage from the end of the Second World War until nowadays. It gives a complex outline of Molière's plays presented during the different periods, evaluating the influence of cultural and historical context on the particular interpretation. This evaluation is based on the information presented in contemporary press and promotional materials of the given theatres and thus examines Molière's plays performed on Czech theatre stages in the present. Angelo Beolco, called Ru(z)zante

The subject of this degree paper is the comedies of Angelo Beolco. The introductory part is focused mainly at the life and work of Angelo Beolco. Following this there is an introduction to the comedy genre in 16th century in Italy and the characteristics of erudite comedy, its authors and the change from the erudite comedy to the comedy dell'arte. A further part is given over to an analysis of his comedies La Pastoral (Pastoral), Il Reduce (Returnee) - Primo dialogo: Parlamento de Ruzante che iera vegnú de campo (First dialogue: What said Ruzante when he came back from the battlefield) and Secondo dialogo: Bilora (Second dialogue: Bilora).
Psychical Distance and Laughter at the Theatre

The present BA thesis is focused on the exploration of the role of laughter and comicality within Dramatic Arts. The starting point is explanation of the concept of Edward Bullough's "psychical distance" as a factor, which defines aesthetic attitude. The laughter is described there as the type of reaction, that tend to under-distancing or to over-distancing and so to a disruption of aesthetic attitude. At the same time, however, whole significant section of Dramatic Art comedy works intensively with the role of laughter . BA thesis attempts to indicate main features of laughter and its transformation within the aesthetic attitude.
The Sense of Humor in the British Sound Comedies in the Comparison with some Czech Film's Examples

This thesis targets the British sound film especially comedies from 1930{\crq}s till mid 1970{\crq}s because after this period there is greater TV production which took over feature film production. There is described the production of the main studios such as Gainsborough Pictures and Gaumont-British, Ealing Studios and Rank Organisation. I aim then to classify some film styles such as farce, slapstick, burlesque, screwball and romantic comedy, satire and parody. The last target is to find some famous Czech film makers or actors, who worked or are still involed within the British film production. There are name such as Herbert Lom and Anny Ondráková.
