The role of nurses in the primary prevention of cardiovascular diseases
CICHROVÁ, Lenka
The thesis seeks to examine the role of nurses in primary prevention of cardiovascular diseases (CVD). Today, CVD are one of the most frequent causes of death in adults worldwide. In Europe they are involved in up to 40% of deaths annually. These diseases affect the heart and blood vessels and can occur in several forms, such as ischemic heart disease, stroke or high blood pressure. Therefore, primary prevention is a vital part of nursing interventions. Prevention of CVD is closely linked to the awareness of risk factors. Hence, it should be aimed at proper handling of such factors or possible treatment. The work is composed of two parts, the first part being theoretical and the second practical. Two objectives were set for this thesis. Firstly, to map out the role of nurses in primary prevention of cardiovascular diseases; secondly, to determine whether nurses in GP surgeries are involved in primary prevention of cardiovascular diseases. The following research questions were defined: ?What is the main role of nurses in primary prevention of cardiovascular diseases???How do nurses in GP surgeries engage in primary prevention of cardiovascular diseases???Do nurses in GP surgeries use the SCORE risk charts??The qualitative research revealed that nurses are most often involved in the prevention of CVD as proper lifestyle educators and monitors of blood pressure, cholesterol and blood glucose. It was also found that nurses in GP surgeries engage in primary prevention of CVD. The thesis records interviews carried out with nurses, describing the interviews in the results. The most common and most interesting responses are given in tables. The results of the thesis can be used as a source of information on proper primary prevention of CVD in GP surgeries. This information was used to create guidelines for nurses on how to proceed in the primary prevention of CVD.

In vitro evaluation of photodynamic activity of tetrapyridoporphyrazine derivatives for treatment of solid tumours.
Jedličková, Adéla ; Macháček, Miloslav (advisor) ; Šimůnek, Tomáš (referee)
Charles University in Prague Faculty of Pharmacy in Hradci Králové Department of Biochemical Sciences Candidate: Bc. Adéla Jedličková Supervisor: Mgr. Miloslav Macháček Title of diploma thesis: In vitro evaluation of photodynamic activity of tetrapyridoporphyrazine derivatives for treatment of solid tumors Nowadays, cancerous diseases belongs among the main causes of death, incidence continues to rise. Therefore research in the area of tumor treatment significantly focuses on the development of new potential anticancer drugs and therapeutical approaches. Photodynamic therapy (PDT) belongs to clinically approved therapeutic methods for the treatment of the malignant and nonmalignant diseases. PDT is composed of three main components - photosensitiser (PS), light and oxygen, all of them are non-toxic on their own. However, their interaction leads to a generation of highly reactive molecules. This method is based on absorption of light with appropriate wavelenght by PS and subsequent energy transfer from photon to surrounding molecules, especially to oxygen. This transfer leads to a generation of cytotoxic reactive oxygen species (ROS) of which singlet oxygen plays a main role. ROS subsequently causes a damage of surrounding cell structures, which leads to irreversible damage of cell functions and...

Telč region - Local region in teaching at the Second Grade of Primary School
PROKOPOVÁ, Michaela
Prokopová, M. (2013): Telč region - Local region in teaching at the Second Grade of Primary School. Thesis, University of South Bohemia, Pedagogical Faculty, Department of Geography, 85 pages. The thesis focuses on teaching about Telč region theme in basic schools. The thesis is composed from theoretical and practical parts. The purpose of the theoretical part of this work is to characterize Telč region and define its place in educational curriculum with emphasis on the key competences. The practical part based on empirical research summarizes findings of students´ knowledge about the region. The questionnaire examines different types of educational ways of teachers. According to this research I suggest my own conception (teaching methods, excursions, projects and workbooks) proceeding from The Czech Educational Curriculum for basic schools.

Trade House
Čierny, Juraj ; Pilgr, Milan (referee) ; Barnat, Jan (advisor)
The aim of this diploma thesis is a design of the multy-storey steel structure with a wooden dome structure of the shopping centre in city of Banská Bystrica, Slovakia. Minimum build-up area is 2 000m2. Minimum number of storeys is set at 2. Steel structure is composed as a frame construction with composite steel-concrete ceilings. Building has 2 storeys at all. Wooden structure of dome is composed by glue laminated curved beams. The structural design and analysis is performed by software SCIA Engineer 15.

Kart arena
Šik, Jan ; Bajer, Miroslav (referee) ; Barnat, Jan (advisor)
The scope of the Master's thesis is the design, evaluation and the comparison of two variations of the solution for steel load-bearing structure which is a part of a gokart areal with adjacent refreshments. The construction is composed of three structurally dependent objects. For the first construction object, there were solved the variants with a truss and a frame structure. The construction has an irregular plan. The object plan dimensions are 75 x 45 m. The built up area covers 2450 m2. The construction reaches the height of 13,2 m. The thesis contains the design of dimensions, structural analysis and the evaluation of structural members. The calculation of internal forces was made by SCIA Engineer 16.1.62 software. Attached to the thesis is the drawing documentation.

Gas Microsensors Based on Self-Organized 3D Metal-Oxide Nanofilms
Pytlíček, Zdeněk ; Husák, Miroslav (referee) ; Kolařík, Vladimír (referee) ; Prášek, Jan (advisor)
This dissertation concerns the development, fabrication and integration in a gas sensing microdevice of a novel 3-dimensional (3D) nanostructured metal-oxide semiconducting film that effectively merges the benefits of inorganic nanomaterials with the simplicity offered by non-lithographic electrochemistry-based preparation techniques. The film is synthesized via the porous-anodic-alumina-assisted anodizing of an Al/Nb metal bilayer sputter-deposited on a SiO2/Si substrate and is basically composed of a 200 nm thick NbO2 layer holding an array of upright-standing spatially separated Nb2O5 nanocolumns, being 50 nm wide, up to 900 nm long and of 8109 cm2 population density. The nanocolumns work as semiconducting nano-channels, whose resistivity is greatly impacted by the surface and interface reactions. Either Pt or Au patterned electrodes are prepared on the top of the nanocolumn array using an innovative sensor design realized by means of microfabrication technology or via a direct original point electrodeposition technique, followed by selective dissolution of the alumina overlayer. For gas-sensing tests the film is mounted on a standard TO-8 package using the wire-bonding technique. Electrical characterization of the 3D niobium-oxide nanofilm reveals asymmetric electron transport properties due to a Schottky barrier that forms at the Au/Nb2O5 or Pt/Nb2O5 interface. Effects of the active film morphology, structure and composition on the electrical and gas-sensing performance focusing on sensitivity, selectivity, detection limits and response/recovery rates are explored in experimental detection of hydrogen gas and ammonia. The fast and intensive response to H2 confirms the potential of the 3D niobium-oxide nanofilm as highly appropriate active layer for sensing application. A computer-aided microfluidics simulation of gas diffusion in the 3D nanofilm predicts a possibility to substantially improve the gas-sensing performance through the formation of a perforated top electrode, optimizing the film morphology, altering the crystal structure and by introducing certain innovations in the electrode design. Preliminary experiments show that a 3D nanofilm synthesized from an alternative Al/W metal bilayer is another promising candidate for advanced sensor applications. The techniques and materials employed in this work are advantageous for developing technically simple, cost-effective and environmentally friendly solutions for practical micro- and nanodevices, where the well-defined nano-channels for charge carriers and surface reactions may bring unprecedented benefits.
