Carnival in Roztoky

This thesis aims to document the Carnival in Roztoky from various aspects. I am interested in rituals and masks and research the current interest in the renewal of old traditions and local culture, initiated and carried out by the local community of Roztoky.
Cultural traditions and customs of choosen czech families in the village Lnáře

This bachelor´s thesis is focused on folk tradition of the village Lnáře. Lnáře are known because they belong to the most important pond areas of our republic. People celebrate here for many years social and kultural events which are organised by local associations and organisations. The main goal of my thesis will be meeting with this activity in the village and also to notice the changes of the traditions in the past and in the present. We will also remind of historical development of czech traditions and their important features.
The Image of Masopust´s Rituals in Classical Czech Literature and their Reflections in Contemporary Folklore at Trhove Sviny´s region.

The main aim of this bachelor thesis is to report about Czech carnival. First of all the history of Czech carnival is mentioned. Furthermore a wide scale of habits and traditions in Trhové Sviny countryside is surveyed. The second part of this thesis is focused on influence of carnival festivity on older Czech literature above all on Hussites and Humanistic age. In the period of Humanism can be found a lot of works where authors mentioned their opinions on carnivals, for example Vavrinec Leandr Rvacovsky wrote an entire book about carnivals. Allusions to the Czech carnival can be found in treatise written by hussites priests or in other humanistic works.The main aim of this bachelor thesis is to report about Czech carnival. Shrovetide festivities of Chodsko with focus on Postřekov

This thesis is dedicated to the carnival traditions of the Chodsko Region. It is divided into six chapters. First chapter describes the carnival in general, noting its origin and usual process. Another chapter outlines the history of the Chodsko Region, its allocation, as well as description of the local costumes. Next chapter contains characteristics of the previous and current carnival jollity in villages Mrákov and Luženičky. The last chapter is devoted to the carnival celebration in the largest Chodsko Region´s village Postřekov, which is known for its five-day duration. The thesis describes the programme and customs of these five days.
The Development of Masquerade and Carnival Costumes

This dissertation notices development of masquerade costumes in the Czech Republic and carnival costumes in Venice. In introductory part Jan Nečas describes the beginnings of Shrovetide festivities and their development in costumes and masks. In the next part of this dissertation he deals with the development of carnivals, typical masks and carnival costumes in Venice. In the fourth part of this dissertation author introduces and reflects his own work in pursuance of production of a folk masquerade and city carnival costume which is used for carnival procession.

This bachelor thesis aims to provide an iconographic as well as iconological analysis of picture illustrations in L. L. Rvačovský's title Massopust, and describe their relation to the Early Modern Visual Culture. It examines in detail the narrative plane of several of these illustrations and their accompanying text Exempels. Afterwards, based on conclusions of the above mentioned analysis as well as on further analysis of contemporary visual and textual material, the paper classifies the illustrations within the context of late medieval and early modern culture.
CARNIVAL (project Carnival)

The Diploma Paper with topic of Carnival (project "Carnival") is outlined in order to show the reader one of the possible ways of how to familiarize children with the folk tradition of carnival celebrations. The first, theoretical part clarifies the historical development of carnival celebrations in the south of Bohemia and the events connected with them. The second, methodical part contains essey about the history of project method, ways and extent of its usage, controversary in these methods. It is mainly oriented to information which pedagogue perforce need in preparation and guidance of art project. The design of the Carnival project also belongs into this part, in which there are concrete motives for improvement of carnival and carnival processions in classes of art at lower primary schools brought up.
