ImageJ - program for scientific processing of digital images
ŠKRABAL, Miroslav
Because image analysis is a very broad topic, this thesis deals only with the use of computer vision and image analysis for common tasks solved in the scientific industry. The thesis investigated the applicability of common hardware and software tools for creating a methodology for measuring the mass area of knotweed leaves. Part of the methodology is a description of its steps, including addressing possible pitfalls that can occur during application of the methodology. Furthermore thesis contains a description of the included macro created for ImageJ analysis program and introduction to the program itself. Finally, there are presented results obtained by application of the methodology.
Structure of Sedimentary Calcite
Kulaviak, Lukáš ; Hladil, Jindřich ; Růžička, Marek ; Drahoš, Jiří ; Saint-Lary, L.
Our contribution exhibits experimental results of the structure of calcite deposit that origins by a collective sedimentation of the mixture of variable large particles in liquid. The work is aimed to find for which conditions, concerned of particle dispersity, raises the group of special, large cavities (stromatacta).

Generative propagation of selected species of the genus \kur{Rebutia}
HORNÁT, Milan
In most genera of the family Cactaceae, as well as in the genus Rebutia never been specifically studied and measured the influence of abiotic factors, affecting plant development from seed sowing through juvenile stage to their flowering stage. Monitoring temperature, relative humidity and dew point in the greenhouse environment, along with regular photographic documentation of plant growth and subjective observation, was used for design optimization methodology planting selected species of the genus Rebutia. Regular measurements were carried out from March 2010 to January 2011. It was found that the decisive factor influencing the growth of plants, originating from the high mountains of the tropics, the temperature is. It was developed and practically tested method of construction of growth curves using photographs image analysis of growth, also applicable to other taxa.
Intermediate school´s image as one of the selection criteria for parents and future students
SUCHÁNKOVÁ, Hedvika
My baccalaureate work deals with the topic of management in the school system, how secondary schools present themselves in the public and to what extent the quality of such presentation motivates parents in their decision making process regarding the choice of a particular secondary school for their children. The theoretical section of my work is focussed on the basic concepts of image, its kinds, the significance of relations management in services, school image as well as image analysis. The objective of this work consists in finding out the criteria which are relevant for the choice of the appropriate business school as related to selected aspects of school image. Several significant criteria related to school image were selected on the basis of interview research. These criteria were subsequently studied and analysed in internet presentations of secondary schools of the České Budějovice region with economic or business focus.
Morfocytometric investigation of haemocytes in comparative hematology
ŠUBJAK, David
Standard haematological procedures in preclinical toxicity studies are mostly carried out on mammals, more recent haematotoxicological models represent invertebrates because they can be used in the screening of myelotoxicity. In the present study, we examined haemocytes of Culex pipiens as a new potential alternative haematological in vivo model. Preparations for microscopic analysis were made from the hemolymph stained by Pappenheim's method for overstriking morphology and by toluidin blue and AgNOR for overstriking nucleoles. Microscopic photos were processed by image analysis and size of cells, nuclei and nucleoli were evaluated. Six types of haemocytes were found: granulocytes, prohemocytes, spherulocytes, plasmatocytes, adipohemocytes and oenocytes. Thanks to image analysis we made a morfometric profile of each type of haemocytes and set the nucleolar coefficient. We described significant differences among prohemocytes, plasmocytes and oenocytes size. On the grounds of nucleoles size we divided haemocytes to next two significant groups. Image analysis seems to be very helpful for distinction among various haemocyte lines but we cant use it for generally separation without personal control thanks to presence of statistically significant findings for only some comparisons cell types.
Using of digital imaging in fish biology
MAREK, Miloš
The aim of this batchelor thesis is introduction to the methods of digital imaging and its utilization within the fisheries science and fisheries generally. Next aim is practical training in basic methods of digital imaging techniques. Integral part of the work is introduction to the laboratory and practical methods of fish artifcial reprudction techniques. Aim of the practical part is evaluation of egg fertilization rate using standard methods and to elaborate proposals of fertilization rate evaluation using software for image analysis.
Pore Size Distribution of Human Trabecular Bone - Comparison of Intrusion Measurements with Image Analysis
Doktor, Tomáš ; Valach, Jaroslav ; Kytýř, Daniel ; Jiroušek, Ondřej
This paper deals with pore size distribution assessment of trabecular structure of human proximal femur. Two distinct methods for estimation of the pore size distribution histograms are tested, mercury intrusion porosimetry and image analysis. For the image analysis two-dimensional images of crosssections of the specimens were used and the pore size distribution was estimated using a stereological calculation method based on the geometrical properties of an idealized pore. Comparison of the results of both methods is presented. Suitability of both methods for biological materials is discussed regarding to mechanical properties of these materials, characteristics of pores and range of pore sizes present in the structure.

Janáček, Jiří ; Saxl, Ivan ; Mao, X. W. ; Kubínová, Lucie
Aim of the paper is analysis of 3D confocal images of blood capillaries by digital filters, segmentation and medial axis extraction
Obrazová analýza řezů pórovitého materiálu
Hejtmánek, Vladimír ; Čapek, P.
Two methods of image analysis of cross-sections through two-phase porous media are compared. Linear filtering uses the recursive (IIR) Gaussian filter with the same vertical and horizontal blur radii. The images are also treated by removing small clusters of pixels in the void and solid phases. After linear filtering and before removing small clusters, the grey-level threshold is determined in order to partition all grey pixels into pore and solid pixels. Linear filtering reduces the specific surface very efficiently creating ``smooth'' pore walls and leaves small clusters of pixels in the images. Removing preserves ``rough'' pore walls and removes simultaneously small clusters from both the phases.
Measurement of coke porosity by image analysis methods
Ščučka, Jiří ; Kožušníková, Alena
An effective method for visualization and quantitative analysis of coke porosity is presented in the paper. The method is based on image processing and analysis combined with fluorescence microscopy of impregnated coloured preparations and enables the determination of percentage portion of pores in the coke, mean pore-size, mean cell-wall thickness and their distribution.
