Reviews of the Old Age with the Eyes of Young Generation
STEJSKALOVÁ, Martina
This bachelor´s thesis deals with the issues of ageing process and old age from the point of view of the younger generation. The ageing is a natural process which takes place continuously throughout the whole life. It can be stated that the ageing process is characterized by irreversible changes that are physically visible to the unaided eye. The old age can be described as the last natural period of a human being which starts after the evolutionary stages of childhood and adulthood. The determination of the beginning of old age seems to be difficult, owing to the fact that the displays of old age appear for each individual at a different moment. The issue of old age is being neglected by our society and moreover, it is being generalized as a passive period of a human being. However, with regard to the predictions of the population development in the Czech Republic I believe that it will become a current and crucial issue in the following years. Higher proportion of people aged over 60 will have an adverse impact on the economy of the state. The society will have to cope with increasing demands on the area of social and health care. This bachelor´s thesis, mainly its empirical part, shall point to the fact how today's society perceives this neglected chapter of human life, which old age undoubtedly is. For research purposes persons in the age group between 15 and 25 years were selected who represented the younger generation. The theoretical part focuses on the objectification of terms which are important for the understanding of the given issue. In these chapters findings of a lot of authors dealing not only with the topic of old age are presented. Here we find terms such as intergenerational solidarity, generation X, Y, Z, myths, prejudices and stereotypes about old age and values and attitudes of the society towards old age. Furthermore, issues such as ontological human development /youth old age/, demographic situation of the Czech Republic and the ageing process including period of old age are described here. The empirical part devotes to own research which aims to determine the relationship of the younger generation towards old age. In order to obtain proper data the strategy of quantitative research has been chosen which uses the technique of questionnaire as a form of data collection. The gained data have been processed to transparent graphs and the below mentioned hypotheses have been tested statistically. For the research part the following hypotheses have been determined: Hypothesis 1: The perception of old age by the younger generation depends on the gender. Hypothesis 2: The opinion of the younger generation towards old age is influenced by existing myths and prejudices in the society. On the basis of statistical testing both proposed hypotheses have been refuted. The view of the last developmental period of a human being does not record any vigorous changes in both male and female gender of the respondents. In addition to that, it has been discovered that the younger generation does not make any judgments about old age on the grounds either of existing myths and stereotypes or prejudices in the society. Individuals who belong to young generation form their opinion on old age with the aid of gained experience. The aim of the bachelor´s thesis is to explore the opinion of the younger generation on old age. Furthermore, it has been examined how the views differ based on the gender and whether the younger generation is being influenced by existing myths and prejudices to old age. The set goals of this bachelor´s thesis have been achieved. The results of this bachelor´s thesis can be beneficial to the organizations dealing with the youth both in terms of teaching of students and practice.

Accessibility and Use of Social Services by the Romany Minority in Prachatice
ZŮNOVÁ, Petra
Accessibility and use of social services by the Romany minority in Prachatice is a very topical issue. All social services provided are specified in the Social Services Act. The main mission of the aforesaid Act is to protect the rights and legitimate interests of individuals who are disadvantaged in the enforcement of their interests for various reasons. These reasons may include age, race, health handicap, critical life situation, insufficiently stimulating social environment, etc. The objective was to map social services used by the Romany minority in Prachatice. In order to fulfil the objective of the thesis, the following three research questions were put. RQ 1: What are the problems concerning which the Romany minority contacts social services organizations? RQ 2: Do the social services offered in Prachatice reflect the issues of the Romany population? RQ 3: What social needs of the Romany people in Prachatice remain unsatisfied? For the research part a qualitative methodology was used, which allowed to depict the dynamics of opinions and attitudes of all informants. The data were collected by means of a semi-structured interview technique. The research examined both the views of Romany citizens of Prachatice and the views of social workers from the local social services organizations. The data were collected from 17 informants in total. The obtained data were processed while using the grounded theory. As an important finding that resulted from my research, I deem the fact that the Romany population in Prachatice knows only nine social services organizations and uses only five of them (Most naděje, Céčko, Coolna, Lungo Drom, Phénix). Moreover, they use the social services of these organizations only sporadically or not at all. The social services used by the Romany people include leisure time activities, social consultancy, visits at schools, provision and arrangement of meals, provision of accommodation, individual planning, crisis intervention, safekeeping of valuables, financial assistance, outreach work, exchange program, indicative testing, pre-school preparation and catch-up lessons. The Romany people would welcome greater interest of social services organizations and their responsiveness. They would also appreciate more leisure time activities in their quarters, better facilities of the quarters and their surroundings, more culture for Romany people and a Romany club led by a Romany social worker. They would also welcome a Romany social worker in some other social services and at the Municipal Police of Prachatice. Informants lack contact with the majority society and better time availability of the urban mass transport and, last but not least, would welcome changes in the municipal government. Social workers would welcome a social service in Prachatice with a psychologist and psychiatrist available for children and adults, higher frequency of visits of the citizens' association Fokus České Budějovice, establishment of social accommodation facilities and a day-care centre for homeless people, social service for children up to three years, strengthening of the ground social work, and a social service aimed at hiring Romany people for temporary jobs. Based on the results derived from the interviews performed and from the data obtained, it is possible to formulate the following three hypotheses. H1: The service most used by the Romany population is social consultancy. H2: Organizations providing social services respond to the Romany issues. H3: Prachatice needs to strengthen ground social work. The findings revealed by this thesis may be used by the social services organizations in Prachatice as feedback from the Romany minority concerning the given issues. Thus the organizations can respond to the need of particular services, which may result in more frequent use of social services in Prachatice.

RAŠKOVÁ, Eva
This master thesis covers the palliative care in a hospice and a hospital. A lot of seriously ill patients suffering from incurable diagnoses die in hospitals. Therefore the nursing staff come into a close contact with patients near the end of their life. The nurses are in a close contact with the patients. The nurses sense emotions and suffering of dying patients. They sense also feelings of patients in case when improper cure and treatment are applied. Taking care of dying patients is stressing situation. The care covers not only the patient himself but it also includes the communication with the patients´ family and later the bereaved families. The hospital environment is primarily targeted to acute care. The palliative care is at the periphery. In The Czech Republic the palliative care is emerging in hospices mainly. That is the reason why the hospices may serve as a source of inspiration for improvements of the palliative care in other medical institutions. The first part of the theory section describes the main principles of a palliative care. The next part deals with mutual relations between the dying patient, the disease, between the nurse and the family and relatives of the dying patient. The last part deals with the ethical problems in the dying patients nursing, describes the environment where the palliative care is provided and researches the palliative care standards. There are three main goals of the work. The first goal is to compare the level of palliative care standards in different types of medical institutions. The second goal is to evaluate the possibility of providing of the palliative care in the different types of the medical institutions. The third goal is to suggest possibility of the hospital palliative care improvements according to results of the surveys. In the research part an analysis of written documents was performed. The quantitaive part of the research used an anonymous survey. We created two surveys to perform the research. The first survey was targeted to the nursing management and their view of the palliative care provided in the different types of medical institutions. The survey was distributed to 238 relevant medical institutions by electronic means. It consists 6 questions. 3 of them were closed questions, remaining 3 were semiclosed. The survey was opened by 78 respondents of different institutions. 26 respondents took part and finished the survey. According to answers of 26 nursing managers 18 of them agreed to cooperate further and participate in more detailed survey targeted on the nurses who work directly with patients and provide the palliative care. The second survey consisted of 26 questions and 13 of them were closed and 13 semiclosed. The survey was finished by 150 respondents from different medical institutions: hospitals, long term care hospitals and hospices. The data of the both surveys were statistically evaluated. We established 4 hypothesis. H1: The presence of palliative standard depends on the type of medical institution. The hypothesis is valid. H2: The palliative care standards are focused mainly on the basic physical needs providing and less to the spiritual and psycho-social needs providing. The hypothesis was not sufficiently proven. H3: The possibility to provide palliative care by nursing staff depends on the type of medical institution. The hypothesis is valid. H4: From the point of view of nursing staff the palliative care providing depends on the environmental conditions. The answers of the nursing staff take us to the conclusion that the environment influences providing the palliative care. The results of the research shows, that the palliative standards in the medical institutions exist. The standards are focused mainly on providing basic physical needs. There is an evidence that the quality palliative care can be provided in case when the conditions are adequate.

FRANCOVÁ, Tereza
This thesis covers topic obesity with focus on the quality of life of children from twelve to fifteen years of age. The main objective my work is to design proposal for specific measures aimed to reducing the rate of obesity and to improve the children quality of life within this age group. First part of my thesis consists of literary research to describe a particular obesity and quality of life, including the main related topics, with regard to specified age. My hypothesis are based on available literature and on online resources that deal with descriptions of pubescence as well as obesity causes, risks, treatment, prevention and effects. The practical part of the thesis is focused on the prevalence of obesity among students attending second level of elementary school, with regard to the three main root causes of obesity. It includes in particular, poor eating habits, lack of exercise and unhealthy lifestyle. Questionnaire survey includes questions designed to determine the prevalence of obesity, as well as the aforementioned causes of obesity and its impact on the quality of life, including a few additional questions. Based on the data presented in my thesis I have designed educational program in the form of an information leaflet aimed at children aged 12-15 years who are overweight or obese. For the discourse of this research, questions were answered by means searched clusters and some of the direct responses were given in order to approximate the mothers´opinion on the discussed topics. The research is reflective of the fact that although mothers might not fully comprehend the idea of a healthy lifestyle, in significant proportions they tackle most of the fundamental aspects of what makes up a healthy lifestyle and the degree to which this is accomplished varies on a case to case basis. The research shows that motherhood requires responsibility for the healthy upbringing of the child. In the opinion of mothers being healthy as a mother is essential, be it physically, mentally, emotionally and psychologically is of chief importance in raising their children. In addition to this, a strong support from family members is also of utmost importance. It was also found out that apart from the family a kindergarten helps immensely in the growth of a child.

Study of emergency medical service preparedness for large number of injuries and casualties - bus accident
PRUDEL, Ondřej
This diploma thesis deals with problematic of emergency medical service preparedness in the Czech Republic, in the place of disaster and during this situation especially in bus accident with large number of injuries and casualties. Bus accident can create high risk of forming mass disaster due to many people transported in small area with low safety components. High risk of many injuries and casualties with chaotic first call make hard decision to activate plans to solve this situation for emergency services. Theoretical part of diploma thesis maps transformation of Czech paramedic system organization from districts to regions and new legislations for emergency medical service that solve preparedness, organization and duties during large incidents. Due to this new legislations were formed offices for emergency preparedness which ensure this preparedness. Practical part of diploma thesis is analysis of Czech paramedic preparedness that solve bus accidents as disaster. For this analysis were used data from regional emergency medical service headquarters (EMS HQ) - bus accident reports, drills for staff and special material equipments. But only 3 EMS HQ provided acceptable data and 1 EMS HQ partly acceptable data. Aim of this study is assessment in preparedness change for disaster during examined time (2000 - 2011) and comparison of real event to training drills. This part of thesis is supplied by statistic data (transformed into graphs) of bus accidents with injuries and casualties from department of Transportation Police of the Czech republic and Fire Rescue Service Directorate. Whole practical part is made by analysis of primary (documents, EMS HQ personal visits) and secondary information (information servers, journals). Within this analysis was made evaluation of Czech emergency medical preparedness for bus accidents with large number of injuries and casualties. This analysis shows that in area of the Czech Republic is missing central directorate for Czech paramedic system. Which is shown in varying material, drill and whole preparedness for disaster situation. This problem is also made by new legislation that were not here before (law for emergency medical system and law notices). High variation of equipments and procedures in solving disasters can cause difficulties during accident intervention on the borders of paramedic regions. For comparison to other countries preparedness is in this thesis mentioned Poland - special training course for specialist in disaster management, USA - Medical Alert Center (MAC) and Israel - control system for disaster drills.

Diagnostic imaging methods in senology, gynecology and obstetrics
PILAŘOVÁ, Martina
This thesis describes depicting methods in the senology, gynaecology and obstetrics. "In the present times keep using a new method of depositing diagnostics . The development of these methods goes ahead very fast. The breakthrough was the discovery of the diagnostic imaging W. C. Röntgen, who discovered beams X in the mid-20th century. It is the discovery that started the era of the evolution of modern diagnostics. The theoretical part deals with the anatomy of the breast and female genital organs. Further on, there is simply described the principle and the utilization of imaging techniques in the gynaecology, obstetrics and senology. In the senology part there is also the mention of the breast cancer. The Breast cancer is one of the most common cancers affecting women. It is a hormone-dependent tumour, therefore, the origin often is involved in hormonal stimulation. On the occurrence of the breast cancer is also involved in genetic factors. The most common risk factors include former the breast cancer, obesity, and exposure to ionizing radiation. The basic symptoms are as changing breast shape, size, pain, edema, ulceration. Highly effective prevention is self-examination of the breast, another preventive measure is the mammography screening. The Gynecologic section contains a list of the most common tests and a brief description. The final theoretical part is obstetrics, where I focused on a main topic- magnetic resonance imaging. This method is very useful but unfortunately , nowadays, in this field is still very rare. Harmfulness of this method is unproven, but is not recommended for use during the first trimester of pregnancy. The use of magnetic resonance imaging has its specifics and display area. It is used for example in the diagnosis of certain intracranial lesions, such as the absence of corpus calosum, intracerebral tumours, the detection of small lesions in the spine, unclear pathological structures and possibly congenital infection of the foetus. Its perspective is probably the possibility of evaluation of metabolic events during the development. The aim of my work is to analyse the radiological examination methods in senology, gynaecology and obstetrics. Another objective is to determine the number of specialized centres of prenatal diagnosis in the country. The hypothesis of the thesis were formulated as follows: Number of radiological examination methods increases. The practical part provides information relating primarily to the total number of radiological examination methods in Gynecology at the Hospital Budějovice (s.r.o) among 2010 and 2012. These investigations are primarily related to gynaecological diagnosis. All data were obtained from the hospital computer system. In this work was compared data of patients: ? Due to the age of the patients ? Due to the most common diagnosis ? Due to the total number of examinations in the years 2010-2012 Furthermore, the data from the internet portal of the Institute of Health Information and Statistics of the country ( the Czech Republic) were used. As a curiosity, I used data from the first ultrasound in pregnancy and newborn mortality. While this is not the subject of my work, but the issue took me personally therefore I gave her a portion of my work. The results of this work demonstrate achievement of the objectives that have been identified in this work. We managed to confirm the hypothesis that the use of radiodiagnostic imaging is rising every year. The awareness of people about the possibilities of testing facilities is on the increase and the facilities of department radiological imaging methods are gradually improving.

Media education on the second level of basic schools
KUBOUŠKOVÁ, Petra
The topic of my bachelor thesis is The Media education at the second grade of the elementary school. The theoretical part has been taken from the professional literature. It is aimed at the characteristics of the media, describes its function and influence, it defines the term media education together with the closely connected terms media literacy and logic. My thesis is dealing with the second grade of elementary schools. That is why I characterized the life stage of its learners - the older school age. The methodology chosen and the choice of the suitable method to teach the media education is based on the learners characteristics. I also touch the Overall Education Program, the School Education Program and their benefits for the learners´ personality development. To carry out the practical part of my bachelor thesis I used the quality type of the research, the questioning method, the semi-standard discussion technique. The research suite was made by the second grade elementary schools teachers in the region of České Budějovice. With the research I approached altogether 31 schools, out of which 5 schools were willing to participate in the research questioning. My research questioning consisted of 11 questions and its aim was to find out the way the media education is carried out at each school, as well as getting the teachers´ views concerning this kind of education. In the practical part I answered two research questions and the related aims. All the teachers questioned think that learners are very strongly influenced by the media, mainly the Internet and above all the Facebook. Children have problems to separate the reality and fiction and are influenced by the misleading commercials. Not only for these reasons, all the women respondents agree with implementing the media education in schools, they thing it important to make the learners familiar with the drawbacks of commercials, to teach them not to be afraid to express their views and to use the Internet effectively. The first research question has been answered: "What are the teachers´ views at the second grade of the chosen elementary schools concerning the media education" ? The target 1 has been met. As for the second research question: "What is the most widely used form of the media education at the second grade of the chosen elementary schools" ? I found out that this kind of education is mostly carried out as a cross-sectional topic integrated in other subjects. Furthermore, it is also offered as a voluntary subject connected with the drama education. Schools also use the form of the project days. Discussion is the most widely used teaching method of all the women respondents. They think it important to find a suitable method to attract the learners´ attention. Thanks to the EU regional projects the schools questioned got the interactive boards which are in use at all of them. These boards are regarded as a suitable part in education, mainly at the second grade of the elementary school. As for the learners with special educational needs, the schools do not need to alter the media education with regards to them, as there are no such learners at these schools. However they think that for these learners the media education is as important as for the others. The target 2 has been met. The research outcomes clearly show that the teachers feel the importance of the media education. They realize that today´s generation of children lives in the Internet world and that it is essential to learn how to get oriented in such world. They want to teach the learners to live with the media, use them for their benefit, not to get scared by them. An interesting finding is also the fact that the schools see the interactive boards as a very important part of education, not only regarding the media education. This thesis can be used as a source of information about the media education and includes the basic information in this field.
