Problems of fracture mechanics VI-th - Fracture parameters of cement composites and fracture mechanics of the interface
Lomově-mechanické parametry obecných singulárních koncentrátorů napětí
Knésl, Zdeněk ; Klusák, Jan ; Náhlík, Luboš
A universal approach to assessment of general singular stress concentrtors in terms of linear elastic fracture mechanics is formulated. tentative criterion of stability suggested makes it possible to answer the question whether in the vicinity of the general singular stress concentrator the crack is initiated or not. The stability of a bi-material wedge is discussed.
A possible approach for assessment of general singular stress concentrators on the basis of linear elastic fracture mechanics
Náhlík, Luboš
This paper studies a stress distribution around a general singular stress concentrator tip on the basis of linear elastic fracture mechanics. A procedure for development of stability criteria of general singular stress concentrators is shown. Three different methods for determination of an essential critical stress for crack propagation from the stress concentrator tip are introduced. Each of used method is useful for different mechanism of crack propagation. The described procedures are based on three dissimilar physical basis: on the energetic ground – the generalized strain energy density factor is mentioned, on the failure stress of material grain ahead of concentrator tip and on the size of plastic zone in front of concentrator tip. The numerical results can contribute to better understanding of general stress concentrators behaviour and can be used for design of engineering structures with mentioned type of stress concentrator
Influence of the T-stress on Plastic zone shape and size for different form of specimens
Seitl, Stanislav
In framework of two-parameter fracture mechanics the shape and size of the plastic zone at the tip of a crack were studied. Analytical estimate of the size and shape of the plastic zone was made by substituting Mises yield criterion. For three different specimens (namely CCT-center cracked plate tension specimen, CT-compact tension specimen and 3PB-single edge cracked three point bending specimen) the numerical solution is calculated by using ANSYS. Numerical results are presented to show the influences of the T-stress on the plastic zone. Both solutions are compared and the effect of constraint on the plastic zone was discussed
Thermodynamical Framewok of Non-linear Fracture Mechanics - Studies and Perspectives I
Fiala, Zdeněk
A possible use of thermodynamics, the 2nd law of thermodynamics in particular, in non-linear fracture mechanics is discussed.
Assessment of T-stress values using finite element method
Seitl, Stanislav ; Hutař, Pavel ; Knésl, Zdeněk
The common used procedures for calculation values of T-stress are presented by using finite element method in this contribution. Such calculational procedures, that make possible to estimate T-stress by using comparison of analytical and numerical solution stress and strain near crack tip, are presented. The aim of contribution is provide survey these procedures and points to their advantages and disadvantage and in this way we intend to possible users the endeavourer orientation in this realm. Contribution is appended with practical examples of calculation of T-stress values.
Stability of a crack terminating at the interface of two materials with plasticity mismatch
Bareš, Pavel ; Knésl, Zdeněk
Paper describes a study of behaviour of a crack penetrating the interface between two materials with the same elastic modulus and different yieled stress. Based on assumption of small scale yielding conditions and taking into accounr the plasticy mismatch of both materials, conditions of stability of a crack terminating at the interface is suggested.
