Assessing Selected Indicators of a Company Using Time Series

This thesis focuses on company Authentica Ltd., which financial indicators have been adapted for time series analysis, over the last 9 years. The aim of this work is to evaluate financial health of the company by using statistical methods, and to offer suggestions for improvement of its economic status. My dissertation is divided into three parts. The first part is describing the theory of statistical analysis of time series. The second part is then the practical one, in which Authentica Ltd. is introduced, and subsequently the statistical methods - described in the first part - are applied using a form created in Visual Basic to the real annual reports data. In this part I have also made a two-year prediction for selected financial indicators. The third part of this thesis is aiming to provide proposals for solution of the challenges identified in the second part.

This bachelor’s work is directed to consider the performance of company by ekonomical indexes and time series. In the first part of work, which we can call theoretical, there will be explained instruments, which were used during the work. The second part will be practical, here will be counted main economical indexes, which are the most important for company and thanks these outcomes will be created time series, which will advice, which direction the company being developed. The goal of my work is to analyze the present state of company and tell the hypotize, which could lead to increase the performance of the company.

Analysis of the Financial Situation of a Company Using Time Series

The bachelor thesis analyses the financial situation of the company using statistical methods of time series and regression analysis. The first chapter is focused on clarifying the elementary theory of the issue. The theoretical knowledge in the second chapter is applied to the financial statements of the company. Based on the results of the analysis there are prognoses of the future development and suggestions for improvement of the economic situation of the company.

The diploma thesis evalutes the economic situation of Česká zbrojovka a.s. in the years 2012 to 2020, based on the results of selected financial analysis indicators and statistical methods. The theoretical part desribes financial indicators, time series, regression and correlation analysis. The analytical part contains calculations of financial indicators, some of which are further selected for statistical analysis and on the basis of which the expected development of indicators for the next two years is determined, or the dependence between these selected indicators is revealed. The last part includes suggestions for improving the current economic situation of the company.

The first part is devoted to theoretical background, which describes financial indicators, time series analysis and regression and correlation analysis. The second part deals with the analysis of selected indicators and statistical analysis, which predicts the values of indicators for the next two years. Then correlation analysis is created, which determines the dependence between selected financial indicators. The last part is devoted to proposals leading to the improvement of the current situation of the company.

The analytical part contains calculations of financial indicators, some of which are selected for statistical analysis, which is used to determine the expected development of indicators in the next two years or to reveal the dependence between selected indicators. The last part contains suggestions for improving the current economic situation of the company.
