Novák, Radek
The diploma thesis entitled “The approach of municipalities to the issue of drought in the territory of SO ORP Valašské Klobouky” deals with climate change and its negative impacts on selected municipalities in this administrative district. The main aspect of the diploma thesis is the approach of municipalities to the ownership of agricultural land and the perception of climate change at the municipal level, especially the emphasis on the issue of drought. The aim of this thesis is to evaluate the approaches of municipalities to their own land management regarding current climate change, primarily drought. Based on semi-structured interviews with the mayors of ten municipalities, general conclusions can be drawn that municipalities are aware of the negative effects of climate change and are partly trying to combat them but are dependent on financial support from the region and the state. They do not farm on their own agricultural land and mostly lease it to private farmers. Municipalities try to implement adaptation measures for climate change mainly through their own projects supported by national programs. Most municipalities are sceptical about the tool of complex land improvements. At the end of the thesis, recommendations are outlined that could effectively address drought and other negative impacts of climate change.
