A Native Speaker as an EFL Teacher Rodilý mluvčí jako učitel angličtiny Miroslav Ledvinka Abstract Introduction: The principal aim of this thesis is to determine the role and significance of native speaker teachers of English in the teaching process, as well as to define the expectations of their students and employers. The status of native speaker teachers in the Czech Republic is being contrasted to the position of non-native speaker teachers. The core of this study lies in the analytical part which attempts to delimit the characteristics of the implementation of native English-speaker teachers into the Czech education system. Theoretical part: The theoretical chapter presents a concise summary of the theoretical terms and concepts, both historical and contemporary, which are related to the topic of native English-speaker teachers. Apart from the traditional survey of topics discussed in various authoritative publications and journals, the theoretical overview also includes a schematic outline of the historical development of the status of native speaker teachers with respect to the social, political, and economic factors which played a major role in the shaping of native speakers' position in the education process, and society as a whole. Language management in the process of reception of literary texts from the perspective of a native and a non-native speaker of the Czech language

This diploma thesis explores the possibility of mapping the reception of a literary text in terms of language management processes and in succession unveils the main differences in the perception of a literary text by a native opposed to a non-native speaker. The first three chapters treat the research methodology, which is based on Language Management Theory, Neustupný's approach to literary criticism through this concrete theory and single elements from formalism and structuralism. The research, which is described in chapters four to seven, focuses on the different moments of noting, evaluation and problem solving strategies realised by two readers of a modern Czech short story (one native and one non-native speaker). These processes are identified and analysed by the means of follow-up interviews. The aim of the thesis is to establish a complex methodology of identifying, describing and interpreting management processes which occur during the reception of a literary text and further to investigate the main characteristics that distinguish this process in the case of a native and a non-native recipient of the text.
Czech of a Non-native Speaker (case study)

The thesis Czech of a Non-Native Speaker is a case study which analyses the use of the Czech language by a non-native speaker coming from Kazakhstan. It contains an introduction which deals with the theory of second language acquisition and the importance of language transfer in this field. The second part of the thesis analyses the errors in several written and spoken texts (resp. their transcripts). Errors are analyzed from a phonetic, morphologic, grammatical, lexicological and syntactic perspective, they will be described and explained with an emphasis on the influence of interference. The conclusion summarizes the results of the analysis.
Czech of a Non-Native Speaker (Case Study)

The main goal of the thesis is to analyze Czech texts of a non-native speaker who comes from Montenegro. It contains an introduction which deals with the theory of second language acquisition and the role of language transfer in this field. The analysis assesses written texts as well as spoken language considering the influence of language transfer on error-making.
