Optimalization of MEA structure for low temperature fuel cells
Chladil, Ladislav ; Novák, Vítězslav (referee) ; Barath, Peter (advisor)
This master’s thesis focuses on optimization of electrode configuration in combination with a polymer membrane (MEA - Membrane Electrode Assembly) in terms of material and technology. The main goal was to create a functional measurement of MEA structures with three different types of carbon materials. The theoretical part focuses on the physical and chemical properties of low-temperature fuel cells with polymer membrane. The experimental section describes the manufacture of catalytic materials with different types of carbon and various contents platinum. Produced by electrode materials were investigated by cyclic voltammetry. The next step was to manufacture MEA structures and characteristics of VA measurement using a digitally controlled load in the experimental fuel cell Quintech.
Three-electrode electrochemical sensor characterization
Koporec, Lukáš ; Prášek, Jan (referee) ; Majzlíková, Petra (advisor)
This bachelor thesis is focused on the thick-film three-electrode electrochemical sensor characterization. In the theoretical part, the thesis describes thick-film technology, standard electrodes used in electrochemistry to detect substances as well as electroanalytical methods for solutions analysis. The experimental part is dedicated to the procedures used in the characterization of the three-electrode electrochemical sensor and their evaluation.
Liquid analysis sensor
Hanus, Martin ; Adámek, Martin (referee) ; Kosina, Petr (advisor)
This thesis deals with the mixing of liquids issues. The simulation of structure for mixing of liquids and evaluation of parametres which have most significant influence on mixing of liquids was made with help of COMSOL programm. In the next section of thesis the quality of electrodes used for cyclic voltammetry made on LTCC by thick layer technology was determined. In the end of this thesis the 3D structure for mixing of liquids was made. The quality of mixing was controlled by cyclic voltammetry.
Optimization of electrochemical sensor for detection in microvolume
Gajdoš, Libor ; Pekárek, Jan (referee) ; Prášek, Jan (advisor)
This thesis describes optimization and modification of standard thick-film electrochemical sensor to be able to be used for detection in microvolumes. In the theoretical part, the thick film technology is described. The work is then focused on the wettability of surfaces followed by introduction to electrochemistry and electro-analytical methods. In the experimental part, screen-printing of various types of thick film pastes on ceramic substrates for determination of their wettability and the following modification of the sensors with thick-film paste and with Parylene vaporization can be found, as well as the basic electrochemical measurements in microvolume using the modified sensor. Finally the results are summarized in conclusion.
Fuel cell and vehicles
Zlámal, Josef ; Kloss, Ondřej (referee) ; Kaplan, Zdeněk (advisor)
In the first part of this work a historical development of fuel cell, description of its construction and function including a comparison of currently used fuel cells is presented. The next part of this work is focused on fuel for fuel cells, its production, distribution and storage. The last chapters are dealing with fuel cell automobile, project of particular car companies and author´s assessment of individual fuel cell systems.
Cyklocomputer with Frequency Meter
Netáhlo, Tomáš ; Fedra, Zbyněk (referee) ; Hermany, Jiří (advisor)
The Bachelor’s thesis deals with design and realization of the cyklocomputer with a measuring frequency of pedaling. The device measures speed, pedaling frequency, heart rate, distance traveled and the current time and date. Measured values are stored in memory and then can be transferred via USB bus to computer. The work includes a description of the magnetic sensors and ECG sensors. The practical part includes the design of hardware and software cyklocomputer.
Alpha activity monitor
Kašpar, Blahoslav ; Sekora, Jiří (referee) ; Chmelař, Milan (advisor)
This work deals with problems of EEG biofeedback and possibilities of its use in therapy. The method of EEG biofeedback helps patients to achieve the state of relaxation. It is a noninvasive treatment modality. The paper also discussed the requirements for each component unit. The main point of a design and construction of Alpha activity monitor, a device implementing EEG biofeedback focused on sensing electrical activity of the brain, specifically alpha waves. Alpha activity is specific and their parameters are taken into account when selecting components and construction equipment. Custom feedback is then for the appearance of alpha activity mediated by the headphones in acoustic form. The work also includes design of electrical circuits and electrical diagram of the overall apparatus including a list of used parts. Electrical diagrams are formed in the EAGLE 6.1.0.
Evaluation of the error rate of the InBody 770 and Bodystat 4000 devices in case of violation of the measurement conditions specified by the manufacturer.
Pevalová, Nicole ; Adamík, Richard (referee) ; Bedáňová, Kamila (advisor)
This bachelor thesis deals with the error rate evaluation of the InBody 770 and Bodystat QuadScan 4000 bioimpedance devices used for human body composition analysis. The theoretical part of the thesis contains technical knowledge about the individual instruments as well as a description of the bioelectrical impedance used by the aforementioned instruments for their operation. The practical part consists of measurements of subjects using both devices. The monitored variables are impedance, BFM (body fat) and TBW (total body water). The measurements consist of a reference measurement on each device separately and then four error measurements are made where the measurement conditions set by the manufacturers are not followed. The measured values of impedance, body fat total body water were statistically compared using a two-sample t-test. Instrument error was quantified using the mean relative deviation of the error measurements from the reference measurement.
Electrodes for electrolyser
Kaňa, Ondřej ; Knotek, Tomáš (referee) ; Sedlaříková, Marie (advisor)
In my diploma work i focus on the production hydrogen by electrolysis of water using by electrolyzer. Especially, i concentrate on preparation electrodes for laboratory electrolyzer. I work on principles of increasing electrodes area, increasing functional surface of electrodes, by Nickel – Zinc coatings. By electroplating or chemical plating we spread microlayer of Nickel-Zinc onto electrodes made of steel plate. Then, in alkali - hydrate oxide, we will corrode Zinc components off the alloy and this is how we create pore surface of electrode. From macroscopic view, electrode has same geometrics propositions, however from microscopics view, the electrode has bigger surface area. The hydrogen production increases with unchanget sizes of electrolyzer.
Technology of wearable sensors
Javor, Adrián ; Majzlíková, Petra (referee) ; Hubálek, Jaromír (advisor)
This bachelor thesis deals with thick-film and thin-film technology of creating wearable sensors on human body, that sense substances in perspiration. Part is devoted to their classification and making subsequent proposal of flexible three-electrode biosensors using 4 different electrochemical transducers. All of these biosensors sense concentration of lactate in human sweat, and are based on immobilization lactate oxidase enzyme on the working electrode. Technological process of production is based on combination of thick-film and thin-film technology. Conclusion of this bachelor thesis contains amperometric evaluations of the lactate concentration, from which calibration curves were created.
