The Design and Aerodynamic Testing of DPIK Probe
Procházka, Pavel P. ; Barraclough, V. ; Skála, Vladislav ; Uruba, Václav
The isokinetic probe used to detect the liquid phase drift from the cooling tower is presented here. The main motivation is costs reduction that arises during standard drift measurements. The probe was developed in the framework of the grant project between private company 4Jtech and Institute of Thermomechanics. The aerodynamic design and optimization of this probe should fulfill one important criterion – to capture the droplets from the drift with maximal efficiency. Kalorimetric principle is then used to evaluate the amount of trapped water. Standard PIV (Particle Image Velocimetry) measurement technique and modified IPI (Interferometric Particle Imaging) methods were used to measure the flow field topology and the particle size distribution, respectively.

Nuclear power plant cooling system analysis
Kopřiva, David ; Baláš, Marek (referee) ; Milčák, Pavel (advisor)
This diploma thesis deals with the issue of cooling of nuclear power plants. It briefly covers the currently operating reactor types and the currently used cooling methods of nuclear power plants. The thesis is mainly focused on the use of dry cooling, so the possibilities of dry cooling and their current use in the world are mentioned. The second part of the thesis is focused on the calculation of indirect dry cooling system. The air flowing through the dry coolers cools them. The air flow is caused by the natural draft of the cooling tower in which the dry coolers are located. The calculation of the tower natural draft and the flow losses are part of this work.

Characteristics of fan cooling towers
Joska, Jakub ; Milčák, Pavel (referee) ; Pospíšil, Jiří (advisor)
This diploma thesis deals with the problematics of fan cooling towers. The very first part of the text is research, focusing mainly on the theory of cooling and the function of fan cooling towers in general. The following chapter deals with the water resource management of the Dukovany nuclear power plant and the specification of its objects of forced draft cooling towers. The second part describes a computational model created to determine the cooling performance of these towers under the given input conditions. In the following chapters, the results from the computational model are compared with the available data from warranty measurements and with the provided characteristics. The final pages deal with the study of the influence of changes in input parameters on the cooling performance and the research of the behavior of the cooling towers under extreme weather conditions.

Design of the tertiary circuit for a nuclear power plant
Flajsarová, Alexandra ; Baláš, Marek (referee) ; Milčák, Pavel (advisor)
At the beginning of the bachelor´s thesis, a basic description of nuclear power plants is presented. The main attention is paid to nuclear power plants with light-water pressurized reactors. This type of nuclear reactor is the most common one in the world, and i tis also used in both Czech nuclear power plants. A significant part of the thesis deals with the tertiary circuit of a nuclear power plant. Therefore, cooling methods, cooling towers, and condensers are described in the thesis. The main goal of the thesis was to calculate the amount of make-up water in the tertiary circuit of a nuclear power plant with a reactor with nominal output of 1200 MWe and to determine whether a nuclear power plant with these parameters would be capable of operation in the conditions specific for the Dukovany Nuclear Power Plant with the use of make-up water from the Jihlava River.

BRNO - SPITÁLKA_SMART CITY
Šmídová, Lucie ; Grůza, Lukáš (referee) ; Havliš, Karel (advisor)
The diploma thesis deals with the future smart district at Špitálka in Brno - Zábrdovice. The smart district will serve as a pilot territory to verify the goal setting from the vision for the #brno2050 strategy. One of the main motives is the activation of the territory by means of relevant interventions, which can start the development not only of this area, but can also have a positive impact on the entire locality. The aim of the diploma thesis is to contribute to the preparations for the revitalization of the city district and to outline possible alternatives for the phasing of development, the method of activating the territory and temporary use during the realization process. Further contribute to the discussion about cooperation public sector with private, community planning in our environment and the possibility of alternative project financing. The proposed tactics correspond to the local significance, are based on current values and lead to a sustainable urbanization process of an evolving urban environment. The work is analytically based on the current criteria of the urban environment generated by the investments of capitalist society. The proposal focuses on areas related to performative planning or an experimental form of so-called bottom-up planning and supports the principles of Smart City.

Reinforced concrete structure of the cooling tower
Vostal, Lukáš ; Švaříčková, Ivana (referee) ; Šulák, Pavel (advisor)
The content of the bachelor thesis is structural analysis of cooling tower fundamental construction. Modeling of the computational model and the calculation of internal forces of cooling tower fundamental construction in Scia Engineer. The reinforced concrete parts of the structure are assessed at the ultimate limit state and the subsoil is assessed at serviceability limit state. Part of the thesis is also the desing of the reinforcement of the foundation structure and processing of the drawings.
