Evaluation of the yield and quality of table potato tubers
KAŇKA, Jakub
The aim of the diploma thesis was to evaluate the differences in yield, content of nutritionally important substances and table value of tubers in the selected set of ware potatoes. For this purpose, a small plot experiment was established in Jindřichův Hradec with 3 varieties of ware potatoes: Rosara, Sunshine and Princess. The cultivation took place under the conditions of conventional technology. During the vegetation, the health of the growth, the onset of growth phases and the yield formation were monitored. Samples were taken from the harvested plots for examination and chemical analysis and then the yield was determined. The number of tubers per bunch and stem, the average weight of tubers, dry matter content, starch content, total polyphenol content and antioxidant activity were evaluated for individual varieties. Furthermore, the table value of tubers was evaluated by evaluators through a cooking test.
Response of potatoes to split application of nitrogen and plant auxiliaries
MICHALÍČEK, David
The aim of the diploma thesis wasto evaluate the yield of tubers and the share of starch in tubers in potato varieties with different growing seasons and to point out or refute the need for nitrogen during cultivation. Next, to focus on the effect of nitrogen fertilization on dry matter and starch content. It was a small plot experiment, which was based on the Valečov experimental station. Two varieties were selected for the experiment, the early and the semi-early ones. The first variant is a plant not fertilized with nitrogen. The other variant was fertilized before planting. In another variant, a split application of nitrogen was performed, and in the fourth variant, an auxiliary plant preparation was applied, supporting stolon growth and root formation. The experiment further records treatment and conditions during the growing season. Individual differences between the varieties were also recorded during the experiment. For variants 2 and 3, the effect of fertilization on the yield of potato tubers in both varieties was demonstrated. The yield also increased significantly in the variant with the use of an auxiliary preparation. The semi-early variety Antonia reacted best to the auxiliary herbal preparation and the early variety Colomba achieved the highest yield in the variant with foliar application of urea. Antonia recorded a yield of 58.4 t/ha for the control variant, 64.3 t/ha for the second variant and 66.9 t/ha for the third fertilizer before planting. The variant with an auxiliary product then recorded a yield of 68.53 t/ha, which was a higher yield compared to the control variant by 10.1 t/ha. For the very early Colomba variety, the yields for the variant without fertilization were 66.14 t/ha, variant No. 2 then 83.18 t/ha, the variant with fertilization before planting recorded a yield of 79.26 t/ha and the variant with auxiliary product 78.85 t/ha. The differences between the fertilized variants during the growing season were 4.23 t/ha for the Antonia variety in favor of the auxiliary plant preparation. For the Colomba variety, the difference was 4.33 t/ha in favor of the urea variant. At the same time, the size ratio of the tubers also changed. In the case of the Antonia variety, there was a decrease in starch content in the fertilized variants, but in the case of the Colomba variety, the decrease was not confirmed in all variants.

Reaction of starch processing potatoes on application of Lyckeby concentrate fertilizer
DOUBEK, Martin
Lyckeby concentrate is a new organic fertilizer made from waste tuber juice in the production of potato starch. The aim of the diploma thesis was to evaluate the effect of this fertilizer on selected varieties of starch potatoes. Two varieties Euroresa and Eurostarch were monitored, which are the most cultivated in the company Agrospol, Malý Bor a.s. The fertilizer was applied in two variants. The first variant was fertilized 2 t.ha-1 before planting and the second variant had a dose of 4 t.ha-1 before planting. It included an unfertilized control plot. In the experiment, the yield of tubers and starch, the starch content, the average weight of tubers, the average number of tubers and stems per tuft and the nitrogen content were evaluated. In the monitored experiment, both fertilization variants showed an increased yield of tubers and an increased yield of starch. The increase in tuber yield was influenced by the average increase in tuber weight and number. The Euroresa variety showed an increase in starch yield per hectare of 6.53% compared to the control. The Eurostarch variety had an increase in starch yield per hectare of up to 23.74% compared to the control.
Comparison of nutritional and utility value of tubers in selected cultivars of table potatoes
BOUŠKOVÁ, Jana
The aim of this bachelor thesis was to evaluate the differences in the content of selected nutritionally significant substances and evaluation of cooking quality for the selected set of varieties of consumer potatoes. A general introduction to the issue is contained in the literary overview. In 2019, a small-scale experiment was established in Lukavci with 6 varieties of consumer potato varieties and 1 variety for processing into starch (as a contrast control). Cultivation took place under the conditions of conventional cultivation technology. The crop was harvested by hand on 11. 10. 2019. Subsequently, samples were taken for chemical analysis. The experiment evaluated the average tuber weight, dry matter content, N-substances and protein content, total polyphenol content and total antioxydant activity. The table value of tubers was assessed through a cooking test with a panel of evaluators. All data obtained were statistically evaluated and processed into graphs.
Reaction of selected potato varieties to single and split application of nitrogen
MICHALÍČEK, David
The aim of the bachelor thesis is to evaluate the response of varieties with different lengths of vegetation to single and divided doses of nitrogen in potato growing. To point out the effect of nitrogen on tuber yield. The results of the experiment also consider the technology of cultivation, treatment and conditions during the vegetation. The work also records individual differences between varieties and starchy of tubers. The experiment was performed on a plot of land near Havlíčkův Brod near the experimental station in Valečov. Two variants of varieties with different vegetation times were selected for the experiment. The plot was divided into three variants of nitrogen application in three replicates. In the first variant, which was not fertilized with nitrogen, there was no high yield, but in the second variant, which was fertilized with nitrogen before and during vegetation, and in the third variant with fertilization before vegetation, the increase in yield was noticeable for selected varieties. At the same time, there were different values in determining the proportion of starch in tubers.
Bacterial interactions and secondary metabolites in plant and soil environment
Rapoport, Daria ; Marečková, Markéta (advisor) ; Lovecká, Petra (referee) ; Brabcová, Vendula (referee)
Phylum Actinobacteriota represents one of the major phyla in plant and soil environments. Known for the ability to produce numerous secondary metabolites, Actinobacteriota may affect other bacteria and plants in various ways. The thesis aimed at assessing the connection between the production of secondary metabolites and interactions of actinobacteria in plant and soil environments. In the first part, we assessed how rare actinobacteria from acid soil affect cultivable soil bacteria. We isolated a collection of actinobacteria from acid soil dominated by previously uncultivable lineage and isolated a representative described as a new family Treboniaceae and multiple other potentially novel species of known genera. The genome and metabolome analysis of Trebonia kvetii, sp.nov. gen.nov., demonstrated its ability to produce unusual and potentially novel bioactive metabolites. We designed an experiment where a single strain was co-cultivated with the total soil bacterial community of the same soil in a set up, where a free exchange of diffusible metabolites was allowed between them. Three actinobacteria strains coming from distinct lineages were selected for this interaction. Each strain significantly and specifically affected cultivable bacteria as well as the metabolite pool, part of which was induced...

Kondrashov, Alexey ; Štípek, Stanislav (advisor) ; Pecháňová, Olga (referee) ; Matouš-Malbohan, Ivan (referee)
This Ph.D. thesis deals with the deep analysis of polyphenols effects toward vascular disorders. This work provides a number of experimental results of studying both the effects of natural bioactive compounds in red wines and potatoes, and their application to the experiments which includes experimental animal models with spontaneous hypertension. Methods and equipment used in experimental studies allowed us to make several new statements regarding the universal nature of the relationships between the antioxidant capacity and the polyphenolic content in examined foodstuffs. Besides this it is also recognized that food is a source of minerals which also contribute to the total antioxidant capacity and therefore may have influence the endogenous antioxidant enzyme system by providing the essential cofactors. Experimentally we have found that the concentrations of magnesium known for its therapeutic action in wine and red wine extract are comparable to the mineral waters recommended for the treatment and prevention of cardiovascular and metabolic diseases. Moreover, synergistic interactions between selected minerals have been found. The key issue of bioavailability of polyphenols for supporting the idea of the beneficial effects of diet rich in fruits and vegetables toward vascular disease prevention...
