Nursing Care in Patients with Injuries of The Facial Skeleton
MELICHAROVÁ, Jaroslava
The subject of this Bachelor Thesis is the care of patients suffering from injury to the facial bones. The thesis is divided into two main parts. The first part describes the theory; the second part takes a closer look at the practice. The theoretical part analyses the anatomy of the skull and facial bones, and the jaw. This part also describes the causes of fractures and other injuries, and their complications and further treatment. Attention is paid to nursing, post-operative care, nutrition, communication, pain and subsequent physiotherapy. The practical part sets four main points for the given work. The first one determines whether nurses have a sufficient amount of information concerning the nursing care of patients with injuries to the facial bones. The second point asks whether nurses are aware of the specifics of nursing cares for patients with embedded intermaxillary fixation in cases of upper or lower jaw injury. The aim of the third point is to find out whether nurses are aware of the specifics related to the nursing care of patients with embedded rubber bands in cases of upper or lower jaw injury. Finally, the fourth point identifies whether nurses observe the nursing principles regarding patients with injuries to the facial bones. The main purpose of this thesis is to set the answers to the hypotheses which were appointed to the aforesaid points. The first hypothesis proves that nurses are aware of the correct nursing care for patients with injuries to the facial bones. The second hypothesis reveals that nurses are aware of the specifics of nursing care for patients with embedded intermaxillary fixation in cases of upper or lower jaw injury. The third hypothesis indicates that the nurses are aware of the specifics of the nursing care of patients with embedded rubber bands in cases of upper or lower jaw injury. And the fourth hypothesis proves that nurses follow the nursing principles regarding patients with injuries to the facial bones. By means of the aforesaid hypotheses it is shown that nurses are fully aware of the nursing care of patients with injuries to the facial bones and that they follow the nursing principles with regard to these patients. The nurses are also well informed about the specifics of the nursing care of patients with embedded intermaxillary fixation or rubber bands. All hypotheses were proved. The results are based on interviews with nurses working in the surgery, traumatology, dentistry and otorhinolaryngology departments. They were asked by means of a questionnaire and the results of this enquiry were assessed by graphs. These results should motivate the nurses to improve the nursing care of patients with injuries to the facial bones. Therefore the brochure entitled ?How to take care of patients with injury to the facial bones? is attached to this thesis. The brochure is written in the form of interventions so that it is clear what the readers should concentrate on.
Nursing care in patients after amputations
DOPITOVÁ, Pavla
The amputation is currently quite a common measure, the most common cause of which is complications of people who suffer form diabetes; it is so called a diabetic foot. Another group of people involves people with severe limb injuries. The sick people who are expected to undergo amputation are admitted to hospitals at surgical ortraumatology standard wards or intensive care units, and it is necessary that nurses have theoretical knowledge as well as practical nursing skills related to those patients because if a sick person wants to start a full-value life after the amputation, he or she needs to be provided with a quality nursing care. The nursing care is multidisciplinary because it involves care provided not only by medical professionals at emergencies, rehabilitation wards and ambulances but also by technical orthopaedic professionals. The thesis has two objectives. The first objective was find out whether the nurses can care of the patients with an amputated limb. The second objective was to find out whether the nurse apply a holistic approach to care. These objectives were given three hypotheses. Hypotheses 1: The nurse follow correct procedures while taking care of the client after the amputation. Hypotheses 2: The nurses have enough information on care of the client after the amputation. Hypothesis 3: The nurses focus on physical needs of the client. All three hypotheses have not been confirmed. The objectives of the thesis have been fulfilled. The Bachelor´s thesis could be used during at the surgery and traumatology wards. Further on it can serve as a material for students of health care or as a standard in nursing care of the sick people after the amputations. This thesis includes an educational material concerned with orthopaedic prosthesis.
Health insurance and settlemento of nursing and rehabilitative care provided in institutions of social services
VOBORNÍKOVÁ, Gabriela
The topic of my diploma thesis is Health insurance and reimbursement for nursing services and rehabilitation care provided in social services facilities. I chose this topic not only because social services and related fields are currently very topical but also because I wanted to find out what changed whit regard to social services facilities with the arrival of the possibility of funding nursing and rehabilitation care. I wanted to explore opinions of people who work in this field and encounter such issues on a daily basis. Since the possibility of reimbursement for nursing and rehabilitation care has been in the Czech Republic for a relatively short period of time, I assumed that the collection of data would bring new insight into the matter. The theoretical part of my thesis deals with social services and subjects that establish and provide social services. Furthermore, I also discuss the main aims of social services. Next chapter deals with the funding of social services and the factors that help improve the quality of social services. This is followed by the description of nursing and rehabilitation care in residential care facilities. This part focuses closely on the new legal regulation and the types of residential care facilities and also analyses the term competence for the performance of health profession. The practical part of the thesis contains the results of my research work. It describes the methodology (in order to achieve the goal established and to confirm, or reject the hypotheses, I did a questionnaire-based survey and performed the secondary analysis of data). The group studied included all facilities that met the following condition: they had to be residential social services facilities located in the South Bohemian Region. The aim of my work was to find out whether the change in the legal regulation helped improve the funding of nursing and rehabilitation care in residential care facilities. It follows from my research that the possibility of reimbursing for rehabilitation and nursing care from public health insurance means more resources for a social services facility. Furthermore, the obligation to charge a particular health insurer a fee for health care implies more administrative work for the facility. I conclusion, the hypotheses suggested were confirmed and the goal of the work was achieved. My diploma thesis can serve as a full-range source of information for the facilities providing social services. It can also become a useful study material for other students.
