Promoting branch Radiology Assistant at University of South Bohemia
SLÁMA, Jan
First aim of my bachelor´s thesis was to carry out the analysis of number of universities offering the opportunity to study the specialization Radiological Assistant. In this respect, I carried out a process of data collection on websites of individual universities. In my bachelor´s thesis, I established the research question whether there was a sufficient promotion of the specialization Radiological Assistant. On the basis of results of the questionnaire survey and after consideration of responses of all students, in particular on issues related to the specialization Radiological Assistant and future application of the graduate, I could state that the promotion of the specialization Radiological Assistant was not sufficient. The second objective of this bachelor´s thesis was promotion of the specialization Radiological Assistant for the general public and high school graduates. As a form of promotion I chose a leaflet, and I created a draft of this leaflet. The promotional leaflet was designed to serve the promotion of the specialization Radiological Assistant at University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice.
The classic and quantum dimension of X-ray diagnostics for radiology assistants
BEJTIC, Martin
These days there is no educational text for the issue freely available that would be adequate for the students of the course Radiology assistant and for related fields. The work set the following aims: 1. To choose a theory of transmission of the knowledge to the level of the fields mentioned. 2. To create an educational text so that the theory would be respected. 3. To verify the educational text experimentally from the point of view of the students'possibilities. 4. To apply selected statistical methods. Based on the present analysis of the issue and set aims the following hypotheses were formulated: 1. The educational text for radiology assistants can be created through the application of curricular process. 2. The knowledge of the students acquiered through the developed educational system will be divided in a similar way as it is divided normally. The aims mentioned above were accomplished thanks to use of all the aspects of the curricular process. Based on this process it was first necessary to analyse the current scientific system of classical and quantum physics. Adjusted physical knowledge were written up into an adequate educational text for radiology assistants. The hypothesis that an educational text for radiology assistants can be created through the application of the curricural process was verified. The text was provided electronically to the students of South Bohemian University and to radiology assistants. A test of 15 questions was created to verify the knowledge acquired by students. The educational test was also provided electronically. The results were then processed statistically. It was made use of methods of descriptive statistics, but also of nonparametrical testing of hypotheses. It was found out that the knowledge of the students can be described with Gaussian division based on the nonparametrical testing. Thanks to this the adequacy of the text and the second hypothesis that the knowledge of the students acquired through the developed educational system would be divided in a similar way as it is divided normally were verified.
The comparism of dose aquivalents interventional radiology and cardiology
GOMOLOVÁ, Iveta
The main topics of this work are personal doses of ionizing radiation and their comparison with workers in the interventional radiology and interventional cardiology. National Radiation Protection draws attention to the fact that doses of interventional cardiologists are higher than doses of interventional radiologists. In the framework of this bachelor thesis it was examined whether this hypothesis is true for the assisting mid staff, range of the doses and what to do to reduce them. The doses for radiology assistant and nurses assisting with the operations in interventional cardiology and nurses assisting with performances in interventional radiology were compared over a period of seven years for these purposes. These data are processed by methods of descriptive statistics and recorded in graphic form. The theoretical part of the thesis mentions properties of ionizing radiation. It explains the interaction of ionizing radiation with matter and cells and its effects on human health. Finally, the issue of radiation hygiene in terms of occupational exposure and the legislation that governs records of dosage parameters throughout the European Union is outlined it the thesis as well. The practical part deals with personal dose equivalents of individual employees of interventional cardiology and interventional radiology obtained from the Prague Institute of National Service of Personal Dosimetry, which evaluates these doses. Given the results, both hypotheses can be considered as confirmed. This confirmation is caused by lower number of employees and lower number of IC workplaces that focus on larger numbers of patients. This implies that the reduction of occupational exposure is achieved with a sufficient number of qualified personnel to enable more frequent substitution, proactive approach in compliance with radiation hygiene and very good cooperation of the entire team. The work's benefits can be seen especially in the ODE quantification differences within IC and IR and in defining the possibility of reducing the radiation load.
Imperfections of the skiagraphs.
JECHOVÁ, Kateřina
The purpose of my Thesis was to find and document occurrence of imperfect skiagrams in all types of radiographic views, this means classic films, computed radiography (CR) and direct radiography (DR). The research question is "Is there any correlation between number of imperfect skiagrams and number of total skiagrams taken?" I documented rate of imperfect skiagrams in hospital České Budějovice in the time between the years 2013 2015. The Thesis is divided to two main sections: History of Display media and the principle of displaying with all types of displays. Imperfect skiagrams were sorted by origin to: Imperfections caused by operations, imperfections caused by patient and imperfections caused during processing. In my thesis I found out that there is not direct correlation between icreasing number of examinations and number of processed skiagrams. In the reporting period between 2013 2015 there is dependency only in year 2013. In the next two years there is discrepancy in the tracked parameter. The increasing number of examinations and the introduction of new investigative techniques and the rotation of employees (the onset of graduates, as well as radiologists and doctors, their incorporation) are the occurrence of erroneous skiagrams inconsistent with the increasing number of examinations. The monitoring of imperfect skiagrams at the Hospital of České Budějovice is an indicator of the quality of displaying where the upper limit is set at 2.5%. In the reference period, it ranges from 0.2% to 1.76%. Employees are introduced every month and cumulatively once a year to the numbers and types of bad skiagrams to eliminate these errors as much as possible.
The use of imaging techniques in the examination of the spinal canal
LEHOVCOVÁ, Daniela
The bachelor's thesis deals with the description of the individual imaging methods of vertebral canal. Presentation of indications concerning the individual imaging methods. Description of what is the task of radiology assistant when conducting them. To reach the objectives of the bachelor's thesis, the following sources were used: study of specialized literature, monitoring of the individual practices at the radiology work places and department of nuclear medicine, practical execution of certain examinations under professional supervision, and consultation of the concerned issue with the physicians and radiology assistants of the respective work places. The theoretical part of the bachelor thesis describes the anatomy of vertebral column and vertebral canal. Certain parts are documented by pictures. The pathological states affecting vertebral column and vertebral canal are briefly mentioned here. The practical part describes the individual imaging methods of vertebral canal with regard to basic principles and practical procedure. The individual examinations are described by pictures. In addition, the task of radiology assistant is described by pictures. In addition, the task of radiology assistant is described here in steps when executing individual examinations and the indications are presented concerning the individual imaging methods. The answer to the research question "What is the task of radiology assistant when examining vertebral canal using the individual imaging methods?", is: not substitutable. Radiology assistant conducts before the examination, in the course of it, and after its termination, a number of activities necessary for its completion. Also the communication with patients and the whole health care team is the important part of his/her work. The bachelor work can serve as the initial information on the imaging methods that are currently used when examining vertebral canal, indications of the individual methods, and provision of radiology assistants with the assistance when conducting individual examinations.
Investigative methods of gastrointestinal tract
ZATLOUKALOVÁ, Jana
The bachelor thesis deals with investigative methods of examination of the gastrointestinal tract and their frequency in a given period carried out in the Hospital of Milosrdní bratří Brno, Znojmo Hospital and the Hospital of Uherské Hradiště a. s. It is graphically processed amount of medical services carried out during 20092014. Data were obtained from the database od radiodiagnostic department. It also to evaluates the work of radiological assistant during these medical examinations. I tried to point out that the basis of good results of individual tests is not only professionalism, both theoretical and practical knowledge of radiology assistant, but also sensitive and helpful and respectfull psychological support to the patient, which may fundamentally affect the test results.
Magnetic Resonance and its Electromagnetic Essence
MOLÁKOVÁ, Markéta
This fact is reflected in the aims of the thesis, which lie in using the Curricular Process Theory and the already researched quantum dimension of magnetic resonance for defining the electromagnetic foundation of magnetic resonance in such a form that would be suitable for students of "Radiology assistant" and other related programs. Considering the set aims and the use of applied quantitative research, the thesis presents the following hypotheses: 1) It is possible to create an educational text for students of "Radiology assistant" and related study programs by applying the Curricular Process Theory. 2) The distribution of respondents' knowledge will have a theoretical distribution similar to the normal distribution. First, it was necessary to analyse the current state of research on the subject of "Electromagnetic foundation of magnetic resonance for radiology assistants" based on the Curricular Process Theory. The present study examines the Electromagnetic Field Theory, especially the description and deduction of Maxwell's four equations for electromagnetic field, defines mathematical operators needed for describing Maxwell's equations, describes the causes of changes in electric and magnetic fields (wells and vortices), and also mathematically proves that the electromagnetic field spreads in the air a s a wave. Then, it was needed to adjust the form of these physical facts to students of "Radiology assistant" and other related study programs. It resulted in creating a simple educational text (see Appendix 1), whose suitability for the educational target group was verified by a statistical evaluation. Consequently, the first hypothesis that it is possible to create an educational text for students of "Radiology assistant" and related study programs by applying the Curricular Process Theory was confirmed. The functionality of the educational text was verified by an experimental seminar. The seminar was organised for the students of "Radiology assistant" study program at The Faculty of Health and Social Sciences at the University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice and it was accompanied by a PowerPoint presentation. The students who did not participate in the seminar were sent the educational text (and test) in the electronic form. In order to verify the knowledge gained during the experimental seminar and from the educational text, the defined electromagnetic foundation (educational text) was reflected in a test with 13 questions with four alternative options for each there was only one correct option for each question. The test was taken by respondents and the results were statistically evaluated. The type of research used in the thesis is applied quantitative research. The verification of the hypotheses was based on the use of appropriate methods of descriptive and mathematical statistics as well as the use of non-parametric testing, the so called Pearson Chi-Square test (Goodness of Fit). On the whole, 35 tests were processed. Empirical frequency distributions obtained by scoring the tests were matched with the so called Gaussian distribution. Thanks to the use of non-parametric testing, it was possible to confirm the second hypothesis that the distribution of respondents' knowledge will have a theoretical distribution similar to the normal distribution. Therefore, the statistical evaluation confirmed that the educational text is suitable for the needs and possibilities of the respondents and their knowledge distribution is close to the normal distribution. The acquired results show that the knowledge of the respondents was in agreement with the expected assumption of the normal distribution.
Ethics in healthcare with focus on radiology assistant
FLAŠKOVÁ, Veronika
This bachelor thesis deals with the issue of ethics in health care, focusing on radiology assistants. Due to the development of many new technologies, means of diagnostics and therapeutic procedures, there is a great focus on the quality of professional expertise considering radiology assistants. However, this profession requires extraordinary abilities such as a delicate approach towards the patient, basic knowledge from the branch of ethics, nursing and communication skills. In the theoretical part, I tried to briefly define concepts of morality, conscience, ethics and ethical theory. Another part of my thesis is focused on fundamental ethical principles, the relationship between ethics and law, deals with ethical codes among health care professions and defines the branch of Radiology Assistance. Although this topic mainly appertains to the branch of ethics, I also focused on the issue of euthanasia in the conclusion of my theoretical part. The main aim of the study was to describe and analyze ethical issues and problems that a radiology assistant has to cope with in his profession and what is the level of general knowledge of the ethics by radiology assistants. Another goal was to determine whether they are adequately prepared for dealing with ethical issues. The empirical part presents the results of the survey, which were processed into the tables and graphs. Questionnaires were distributed among the employees of radiodianostic department, radiotherapy and nuclear medicine. The results show that knowledge of the fundamental ethical principles or codes related to their work is not sufficient. The results also show that the most frequent ethical issues are disruption and disrespect towards the intimacy of the patient, inadequate addressing of the patient and insufficient communication, which is often related to long working hours.
Radiographer role in non-vascular intervention procedures and their frequency at Imaging clinic of Faculty Hospital Motol in years 2008 - 2013.
BOROVCOVÁ, Veronika
This bachelor thesis focuses on non-vascular interventions, which are carried out at the Imaging clinic of Faculty Hospital Motol. The area of interest was fixed to the adult part of this clinic. The most frequently performed interventions were described and for aech of these examinations was depicted the role of radiographer (patient preparation, sterila table and instrumentation preparation) and it´s operating procedures. The other part of the thesis pays atention to statistical analysis of the frequency of individual most often led examinations. The statistical overview was done by using tables but also graphs. The examinations are devided according to their modalities based on where they were ran. This division was left for statistical part, as well. The period of time, which was trailed in this thesis makes 6 years, since 2008 to 2013. The obtained data displays the individual frequency of interventions and covers complete overview in mentioned issue.
Standards of periradicular therapy under CT control of the department of imaging in the Hospital Jihlava
DOLEŽALOVÁ, Jarmila
The topic I have chosen for my bachelor thesis is treatment of backaches. I have focused on treatment options of radicular pains. The thesis is divided into theoretical and practical part. The first part focuses on description of spinal anatomy, neuroanatomy and spine functions. Backaches belong to the most common diagnosis of not only general practitioners but also specialists. Almost everyone, at least once in their life, visits a doctor with pains related to their back. There are a lot of factors involved in the rise of backaches. The permanently developing non-vascular part of the intervention radiology helps, thanks to its therapeutic methods, with backache treatments where conservative treatment procedure is inefficient for a patient. Current medicine offers a whole range of minimally invasive treatment algorithms. One of the possible minimally invasive treatment procedures in the area of cervical and lumbar segment of the spine is a periradicular local injection. The medical treatment into intervertebral area surrounding the spinal nerve is intended and performed under regulated CT control in sterile conditions. Another newer minimally invasive method is oxygen ozone therapy. This method exploits biochemical propertiesof ozone. Minimally invasive treatment methods are being successfully carried out at the ward of imaging methods in Jihlava's hospital. The difference between the two methods presented is the contents of the curative mixture. Both methods, closely described in the theoretical part, are accessible for the patient as well as well tolerated with minimal negative reactions related to the treatment. The conclusion of the theoretical part contains the description of the indication for an examination, the contents of a particular curative mixture, the information related to contraindication of this treatment as well as possible complications and also the description of therapeutic effects it has on a patient. It includes evaluation methods and comparison from time and financial point of view and an opinion of a radiology assistant. The practical part includes a detailed procedure and performance of medical treatment where the output shows the process of local radiology standards of individual methods designed for the needs of the ward of imaging methods in Jihlava's hospital. The processed standard will improve awareness from other hospital wards about this medical treatment. Subsequently I am comparing both methods which was the given aim of this thesis. The methodology of this assignment includes the evaluation of achieved results. The observed database was a group of patients that underwent a curative therapy in 2011 to 2013. The database includes the medical treatment, the age and gender of a patient and the treated part of the spine. It also shows the overall amount of treatments divided into individual years. The final assessment was based on a total number of 668 patients and is shown in graphs and charts. The explorative question of this assignment whether the number of patients of the minimally invasive therapy will grow while their age will decrease has proved to be true. These are some of the results shown in the graphs: the overall number of patients in the observed time period of 2011 2013 grows, however in 2013 we can notice the increasing number of female patients as opposed to the decreasing number of male patients in the area of lumber spine. Dividing patients into age categories shows that the number of patients increases up to the age group of 51 to 60 years of age, after that it decreases. The above mentioned age group formed more than 35 % of all patients. Minimally invasive medical treatments performed in the spine area improve the patient's life comfort and the positive healing effect makes their physical and mental condition as good as it was before.
