Stigmatization at Persons with Mental Disorders
PEŘINOVÁ, Eva
For my bachelor thesis I chose the topic The Stigmatization of Persons with a Mental Disorder. The thesis is divided into two parts the theoretical and the practical. In the theoretical part, I deal with mental health, mental illnesses and its division according to MKN 10, the history of care for the mentally ill, the status of mentally ill people in society. I also focus on social work with people with mental illnesses and the stigmatization of persons with mental diseases. The aim of the research part of this thesis is to find out, whether and in what areas of life mentally ill people are stigmatized. Another aim is to find out, whether and in what areas of life social workers, who work with mentally ill persons, are stigmatized. Qualitative method is used in the practical part of this thesis. For this part was used an interrogation method and a method of semi-structured interview. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with two employees and four users of Domino services for people with a mental illness in the City charity České Budějovice (hereinafter Domino). Users and workers in Domino were chosen according to a method of quota sampling. Criterion for the selection of communication partners from among Domino was a willingness to cooperate and at least two-year experience in the field. Criterion for the selection of communication partners from among Domino was a willingness to cooperate and at least five-year duration of illness. Results of interviews with users showed using of this social service helps them and they would recommend it to other people with similar problems. Interviews also showed that these users are faced with various difficulties that make their life difficult. Family and friends have turned away from two of the four communication partners. Results of the research indicate that one of the users does not feel to be stigmatized in any area of life, two users feel to be stigmatized in some areas of life and one user feels to be stigmatized in almost all areas of life. Results of interviews with female employees also showed that working with this target group brings different pros and cons, but one of the partners cannot find any positives in this work. In this organisation is worked with stigmatization and destigmatizion, this social service is also trying to be presented to the public in order to disseminate this target group. None of these communication partners feels to be stigmatized in any areas of life. According to them, this is because the public does not know with what target group they work. Communication partners think, people with the mental disorder are stigmatized in our society. They know some of the myths and prejudices that circulate about mentally ill people in our society. They both believe that media have the largest share in this situation. This thesis may serve as a source of information for general public and professionals in issues of stigmatization of people with the mental disorder.
The motivation of general nurses for work in a psychiatric hospital
PROCHÁZKOVÁ, Zuzana
Motivation is a force which modifies and influences human behaviour in working process. It´s very important for nurses to be motivated at work education and the chance of its use in nursing profession represents one of the significant motivators. The aim of this work was to elaborate the basic motivational and demotivational factors for nurses used when deciding for the job in a psychiatric hospital and explore if qualifying education knowledge and study practice affect the decision for the job in a psychiatric hospital. Regarding these targets, the following hypotheses were set: H1: Meaningfulness of the work represents the main motivational factor for the profession choice in a psychiatric hospital. H2: Fear of the potential threat from the patient is the main demotivational factor. H3: Knowledge from the qualifying education doesn´t affect the job choice in a psychiatric hospital. H4: Practice during the studies has motivational impact on the following choice of work in a psychiatric hospital. To obtain the necessary data, the quantitative research was used with a questionnaire as a research instrument. There were 100 nurses working in psychiatric nursing included in the study, who received qualifying education at the higher medical school as gualified general nurses or at the university in nursing bachelor studies. Based on the results obtained, we examined that the interest in psychiatric nursing is thought to be the primary motivational component, but not the meaningfulness of the work. Psychical intensity of the work was classified as the main demotivational factor, not the fear of the potential threat from the patient. Regarding the education and practice it was noted, that the knowledge from the qualifying education doesn´t affect the job choice in a psychiatric hospital and practice during education has motivational impact on the following choice of work in a psychiatric hospital. As an outcome of the research the recommendation was created, which can be used as a scheme for qualifying education in terms of motivation and effective preparations of nurses for their work.

Aspects of Mental and Social Health of Pubescent in Relation to the Circadian rhythm.
KŘESŤAN, Tomáš
The aim of this diploma thesis is to deal with the issue of both mental and social health in relation to the circadian rhythm. This work was created at the same time as a project GAJU no. 101/2011/S. "The Psychosocial and Somatic Indicators in Comparison to the Circadian Rhythm". In the theoretic part of this work the issue of the mental and social health is solved as well as the definition and characterization of the pubescent period is given here. The matter of the circadian and diurnal rhythms is explicated here as well. In the experimental part there is a questionnaire research involving 250 pubescents (125 girls, 125 boys). The age of the pubescents ranged from 11 up to 13 years. The average age for both of the sexes was 13 years. The data capture was proceeding from May 2011 till February 2012. For this purpose the method of two standardized questionnaires was used. The questions from the social sphere originated from the questionnaire called The Quality of Life, Cummins (1997) ComQol S5. The questions solving the issue of the circadian rhythms were chosen from the questionnaire called The Circadian Typology CIT, Harada, Krejčí (2012). The gained data were evaluated by the means of the basic statistic methods and reciprocal correlation. On the basis of results I concluded that some data are correlated with social and mental health, strongly affecting the concept and the importance of sleeping. At the beginning of this work 5 hypothesis were provided. Three of them were confirmed by data analyze.
Sociální prostředí a zdravotnictví odvětví
da Rocha Fernandes, Joao Diogo ; Štěrbová, Ludmila (advisor) ; Mevenkamp, Nils (referee)
The objective of this thesis was to defend an alternative approach by health policy makers for improving health outcomes through investing on social factors of peoples' lives, rather than by increasing health expenditures. In order to defend this theory, this master thesis addresses two research questions: Which are the social determinants of health with largest impact on health status of individuals? And what is the statistical correlation between those social determinants of health and self-reported health status, and psychological health, for Germany, Denmark, Spain and Ireland? The first question was answered by developing a comprehensive research among the mostrelevant literature in the field of social determinants of health and the second through the construction of a statistical multiple regression model. According this study the social determinants with largest impact on the health status of individuals are: physical activity, education level, the welfare state, emotional support, socio-economic status, living conditions, working conditions, and life balance. Regarding the results of multiple regression models all variables followed the expected trend and it was possible to proof significant statistical correlation in 7 of the 8 determinants chosen, especially in the cases of working conditions and life balance, where those having problems managing these aspects of life experienced 50% or in some cases 30% of the health status of individuals with positive experiences in these life dimensions.
