The Effect on Cause of Fire by Weather Conditions
PETRÁK, Martin
The aim of this work is to assess the possible effects of meteorological conditions on the causes of fires (The Effect of Weather Conditions on Causes of Fire). At present great emphasis is put on the investigation of the causes of fire while detecting human or technical failure or the combination of the two. Meteorological influences are given less importance but in many cases they are the cause of technical failures, although often indirect. Under normal operating conditions, the burning process occurs when three basic conditions meet: there are flammable substances, oxidation and initiatory temperature. The direct cause means the impact of the initial temperature and the indirect cause means affecting the flammable substance or material itself and oxidation. As for the direct effects of meteorological conditions, only fires caused by lightning strikes are evaluated as the direct cause of fires in the statistics of Fire Rescue Service of the Czech Republic. Based on technical literature and findings of fire examiners from Fire Rescue Service of South Bohemia, we can easily conclude that fires can easily be started by direct sunlight and relatively simple optical elements. Indirect impact of weather conditions means a wide range of specific conditions which may affect flammable substances or oxidizing agents. On one hand there are specific conditions that affect technical and technological ageing and depreciation, such as extreme temperatures, both in summer and winter, rainfall, wind, and so on. On the other hand, weather conditions also affect activities and behaviour of people during the year. The research was based on monitoring the direct and indirect influence of weather conditions on the occurrence of fires in South Bohemia between the years 2009 and 2013. The findings were used to identify possible fire prevention strategies and to make it easier to identify certain weather conditions which may lead to a fire. The facts used in this thesis are based on technical literature monitoring the issue of fire protection, specialized literature from meteorology and climatology of the Czech Republic, Fire Rescue Service statistics and output from real-life fires which mainly occurred on the territory of the South Bohemia region.
The Rescue Operations at Fire of the Watercraft on Water Surface Considering the Equipment of Fire Station on the South Bohemia.
BOUBAL, Vojtěch
At the beginning of thesis I want to describe few primary characteristics of the South Bohemia Region. It is a region with unique characteristics, which is frequently visited by domestic and foreign tourists. It is popular for its clean environment, historic monuments and especially for sport and recreational activities near water areas, which South Bohemia region has plenty of. Tourists are also frequently seeking recreational boating activities as ferry services for their travel and recration. The development of this economic phenomenon means more employment opportunities for the region, but it also increases chances of accidents and emergencies due to an unforseen accidents which can threaten the lives and wellbeing of the crew and the environment. Fire protection units should be fitted for an emergencies such as: drowning, drowned person search, icy water search and rescue and rescue in stream waters. The thesis is divided into the theoretical and the practical parts. The theoretical part deals with the definition of basic terms describing the issue of fire of the vessels as well as the tasks and procedures during fire fighting operations. It also presents a possible danger to rescuers exposed during operations such as rescue from the vessel burning on the water. There is a listing of the basic terms related to the complex vessel shape and the aquatic characteristics of the vessel. The practical part deals with the study of publications and current legislation, analysis of the Fire protection Units equipment and their readines for rescue work in case of a vessel fire. The enclosed data map illustrates a water area with ferry service in the South Bohemia Region and selected boarding platforms for fire protection units. It describes the use of container technology; modern and economical way of transportation used by the Fire and Rescue Service of South Bohemia Region since 2004. The proposed fire vessel, mounted on a standardize container frame and equipped with special container with stored technical equipment will be transported to the location of event by container carrier from FRS of South Bohemia Region. My theosis also describes the fire protection, fire equipment, personal protective equipment, equipment for working with hazardous substances, rescue tools, communication and portable emergency equipment which is normally used by the fire units of FRS of South Bohemia Region. To achieve the objective of the thesis and to answer the research questions, I did rely on the reference material obtained via search of the professional literary sources relevant to the Fire Fighting equipment and carrying out rescue work. To process the diploma thesis I did use the following: controlled interview with the station sergeants of various fire stations of FRS of South Bohemia, a collection of internal acts of the Ministry of Interior - General Directorate of Fire Rescue Service of the Czech Republic, a collection of internal acts - Regional Directorate of FRS of South Bohemia, Regulations of Mechanical services of FRS of CR and the methodological aids of the Ministry of Interior of CR. In conclusion I am describing the container of fire vessel and its use for rescue and fire-fighting work on water, as well as places where the terrain does not allow the use of mobile fire fighting equipment.
The preparation of campaign to promote an equipement of antonomous detection and signals in the framework of the preventive educational activities in the field of the fire protection
JARMAROVÁ, Lenka
The preparation of campaign promoting autonomous detection and signaling devices within activities of preventive education in section of fire protection We can come across fires of buildings designed for living every day, therefore is very important to try to prevent them. The most accessible way is the installation of autonomous detection and signaling devices, which is currently obligatory to all newly designed and built houses. These devices detect emerging fire, subsequently inform about possible threat and at the same time they allow enough time for the population rescue. To achieve the main aims of thesis, it was needed to study specialized literature and write theoretical part which explains basic concepts connected to the topic, defines the dangers in the place of fire, followed by classification of toxic substances which are released during the fire and finally describes autonomous detection and signaling devices. The integral part contains the graphic layouts focused on the comparison of statistical data from 2001 till 2011, mostly tracking fires and number of killed and injured people during the household fires, which is compared to the number of killed and injured people and fires in general. There was made questionnaire for 50 public respondents from the city Zábřeh after completing the theoretical part. These respondents were chosen on purpose in cooperation with the fire station Zábřeh, which is part of Fire Rescue Service of Olomouc district. We defined hypothesis: The knowledge of Zábřeh population about own life and property protection against the fire are insufficient. The hypothesis was defined using descriptive and mathematical statistics. However, our hypothesis wasn´t confirmed so we can consider awareness of Zábřeh population to be sufficient but not excellent. Therefore, there is still need to increase their legal responsibility. The practical part further includes the analysis of questionnaire answers, which is aimed to evaluate the accuracy of answered questions. Last but not least, the thesis presents the set of promotional campaigns which are ordered by the ability to properly effect on the population via web pages, daily press, TV broadcast or printed materials. The most wanted way would be TV campaign, which is unfortunately expensive and time-consuming; therefore, it seems to be the best option to create web pages or printed material aimed for general public. The both promotional campaigns should be provided by Ministry of the Interior - general directorate of Fire Rescue Service of Czech Republic.
Risk assessment associated with the release of radioactive iodine from nuclear medicine department during a fire
RAMBOUSKOVÁ, Lucie
Nuclear medicine is the branch of medicine that is used to diagnosis and treatment with radioactive isotopes. Nuclear medicine is one of the least burdensome non-invasive methods of investigation. In contrast to diagnostic radiology, which shows the structure of organs , nuclear medicine provides information not only anatomical , but also on organ functions and metabolism. In many cases it is a unique diagnostic test that can detect the disease or its extent before, and thus increase the chance of successful treatment. When working with open emitters for nuclear medicine department can be assumed that may occur in the expected manner of use of radioactive sources only incident of First Instance ( spilling or splashing radiopharmaceuticals, patient pollution ) and very rarely an emergency occurs the second stage (the loss or theft of resources radiation). An extraordinary event is the third-degree radiation accident with very minimal probability of occurrence. The aim of the Bachelor thesis is to map the distribution and the storage of radioactive iodine in the Department of nuclear medicine of the hospitals in the Czech Republic, to determine the level of knowledge of the medical staff and members of the fire rescue Corps and their application in practice, in the release of radioactive iodine, and assess the degree of risk associated with the release of radioactive iodine in the fire. The hypothesis assumes that the medical staff and members of the fire rescue Corps know how to proceed in cases of leakage of radioactive iodine from the Department of nuclear medicine, and that the level of risks associated with the release of radioactive iodine in the fire is negligible. It is a form of qualitative research, research-questionnaire and interview-driven method. In an interview, polootevřený will be used and the type of closed questions. The research staff of the Department consists of a set of nuclear medicine and the members of the fire rescue Corps. Thesis will be used for more detailed study of the issue. It may also be used in lectures and seminars, health workers, and a fire department Rescue Corps.
Evaluation and time development by fire department during fire-figting in the south Bohemia region in the last 5 years.
HAVLÍK, Pavel
The aim of the Dissertation was to assess and analyse the times spent by PO brigades of the South Bohemian Region on interventions and to find out what types of interventions are the most time-demanding and to compare the times spent during fire fighting operations by professional and voluntary PO brigades, and thus to find out which PO brigades spend the longest time at fires. The research was carried out on the basis of the data acquired from the SSU programme for the period from 2006 to 2010. The analysis of the time spent on interventions for the period monitored was carried out for all the PO brigades on the whole, separately for professional and voluntary brigades, and measurement was carried out at JPO I. The hypothesis was verified, professional HZS brigades of the South Bohemian Region spend a longer time at a fire fighting intervention than the SDH brigades do. The research found out that both PO brigades and professional brigades spend most time at the intervention type known as ?technical assistance?, while least time is spent at the event type known as ?other extraordinary events?.
