Proposal of biomedical applications of singlet oxygen generated by electric discharge

Singlet oxygen is the lowest electronically excited state of molecular oxygen. In practice it is used in photodynamic therapy, where singlet oxygen is generated by using photosensitizers. The aim of this work is to suggest biomedical appliacations of singlet oxygen generated by an electric dischrge.
Proposal of ultra-high-power beams at the kilojoule iodine laser PALS

The iodine kJ laser PALS is widely used by users. To extend the scope of the experiments, a proposal of new ultra-high-power (UHP) beams was done in detail. The model of the design is based on routine parameters of the laser PALS and on state-of-the-art of the ultra-high-power beams generation. Using the OPCPA technique, we propose two new alternative UHP beams at PALS with powers of 100 TW and 1 PW, respectively, including a pulse compressor and new front-end amplifiers. The amplification chain was simulated using coupled wave equations for optical parametric amplification. Layout of the two new beams in the existing PALS laser hall was also proposed.
Improving spatial precision of 2D-imaging color filter spectrograph with wedged optical filters

A simple and practical modification of a two-dimensional-imaging color filter spectrograph is presented. By the modification, the spatial displacement of images taken on different wavelengths was reduced below 10 micrometers in spite of miliradian wedges of the filters and beam pointing instability. The device allows precise two-dimensional measurement of beam dispersion and spectral beam profiles in semi-compact design.

Produkce atomárního jódu

In this article we describe our new experimental device for generation of atomic iodine in discharge for a COIL (chemical oxygen-iodine laser) and also DOIL (discharge oxygen-iodine laser) systems. For the new discharge method of atomic iodine generation, we are going to use the optical emission spectroscopy diagnostics, by which we will detect species present in plasma and use this information for optimization of iodine generation process.
Úprava počítačové mříže a výběr interpolačního schématu při řešení supersonického míchání proudícího prostředí

The injection of diluted iodine into the supersonic flow of helium was studied by means of CFD software Fluent. The computational grid was subsequently adapted, i.e. refined in the selected regions with large gradients of different defined quantities. A sensitivity of the refinement on the local and far-field solution was obtained. A sensitivity of the flowfield on the replacement of the first order interpolation scheme to the second order one in several combinations of solved equations was done. An influence of the increasing the interpolation scheme order on the far-field was found, dependent on the way of combination of the 1st and 2nd orders in selected equations interpolation.
Study of gas reactions in a chemical oxygen-iodine laser

Experimentálně a teoreticky byly studovány chemické metody produkce atomárního jódu pro chemický kyslík-jodový laser (COIL) z plynných reakčních složek reakcemi atomů chloru nebo fluoru s jodovodíkem. Obě metody poskytují po optimalizaci produkčních podmínek vysoké výtěžky a koncentrace jódu, které jsou dostatečné pro účinnou laserovou generaci v COIL. Zásadním předpokladem pro velké laserové zesílení je zamezení reakce mezi singletovým kyslíkem a jodovodíkem, která vede k jeho zhášení na základní stav. Reagující i nereagující proudění plynu bylo modelováno pomocí kvazi-1D a CFD výpočtů.
Generation of singlet oxygen for a chemical oxygen-iodine laser

The paper deals with a chemical spray singlet oxygen generator for a chemical oxygen-iodine laser that was designed in the Institute of Physics AS in cooperation with the Institute of Thermomechanics AS. Preliminary experimental results obtained on parametric investigation of this device are presented.

The electron distribution function in a laser plasma is evaluated from the Euler-Vlasov model with a weak collisional term by a solution using the transform method. In the temporal evolution of the distribution we recorded a strong article trapping in the potential troughs of the electrostatic wave generated by the Raman back-scattering and also a cascading due to a secondary scattering of the generated Raman wave.

Colliding plasmas produced at single–side laser–irradiated double–foil Al/Mg targets represent a well–defined model for studying the plasma wall interactions. Complex satellite-rich emission spectra of the Al Lyα group are modeled and interpreted in terms of interaction of counter–propagating plasmas.
