Rediscovering of geometrical constructions

The paper deals with the application of principles of inquiry based mathematics education in seminars of didactics for future primary school teachers, specifically with the activity focused on construction of known geometrical figures in the environment of folding paper. Seven students´ construction procedures of a square are presented in the paper.

The paper is the second part of triple series that deals with the clarification of substance of inquiry-based mathematics teaching. This part is focused on geometrical environments that are based on modelling and enable to generate tasks with different difficulty. It describes three forms of inquiry-based mathematics teaching - three types of tasks which are classified according to the character of inputs: compact, visualized and given by environment.
Inquiry based activities in geometry

The paper deals with opportunities to use inquiry based activities in the teaching of geometry at primary or secondary school. It describes proposals of geometrical activities which lead pupils to experimentation, presentation of findings and their verification and discussion. The environments are illustrated by modelling of symmetrical ornaments, geometrical patterns, polygons and polyhedrons.
Regularities and dependences as an environment for inquiry based education

Requirements for teacher professional competence grow. It turns out that for deepening and improving the knowledge of future primary schools teachers occupy an important role the experience with inquiry based education. Therefore, we are trying to find and design learning environments and implement them in the preparation of teacher students so that they have the possibility to experience yourself inquiry based education from the position of the pupil and realize its benefits.
