Solid Amalgam Electrodes in Environmental Analysis

Nitrated polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons NPAH are well-known environmental carcinogens and are often used as model substances in various toxicological studies. The modern electroanalytical methods (differential pulse voltammetry (DPV) and adsorptive stripping voltammetry (AdSV)) using a mercury meniscus-modified silver solid amalgam electrode (m-AgSAE) are sensitive enough for the NPAH determination.

Composite electrodes offer potential advantanges compared with metallic or glassy carbon electrodes. It is possible to find their field of application in the theoretical research of processes on the electrode surface, but also in the analytical chemistry (determination of metal ions, halide ions, organic compounds, etc.).
