The estimation of crack initiation for a bent sample with V-notch
Majer, Zdeněk ; Hutař, Pavel ; Náhlík, Luboš
The aim of this paper is to investigate the beginnings of crack propagation from sharp V-notches. Stress distribution around the tip of a V-notch is described on the basis of linear-elastic fracture mechanics. The V-notch is a singular stress concentrator with a singularity exponent dependent on the V-notch opening angle. The stability criteria are generalized for a stress singularity different from 0,5.
Issue of modeling of particulate composites
Hutař, Pavel ; Náhlík, Luboš
The paper is focused on micro-mechanical modeling of particulate composites with polymer matrix. A composite with CaCO3 particles is modeled as three phase continuum in the work. The global effective mechanical properties of the composite are estimated on the base of knowledge of mechanical properties of individual constituents. Different size, distribution and material properties of the particles are taken into account. The paper can contribute to the better estimation of macro-mechanical properties of polymer matrix composites.
Estimation of crack propagation direction in structures with material interface
Šestáková, Lucie ; Náhlík, Luboš ; Hutař, Pavel
The aim of the paper is to develop a procedure, which makes it possible to estimate crack propagation direction after its pass through the bimaterial interface between two elastic materials. For numerical calculations the finite element method is used. Conditions of linear elastic fracture mechanics are considered in the paper. The results obtained can help to better understanding of crack propagation in structures with material interface and for more reliable estimation of their service life.
