Fracture description of two- layer pipe with polypropylene protective layer
Zouhar, Michal ; Hutař, Pavel ; Náhlík, Luboš ; Vallet, L.
Nowadays, using of layered polymer pipes is increase. Protective layer can contribute to the better mechanical resistance of basic material. In this paper the three-dimensional numerical model of pipe consisting of main pipe material and outer protective layer material is modeled. The creep crack propagation in main material is simulated and the influence of protective layer is observed. Presented description of the crack in two-layer pipe can help for more accurate estimation of pipe-system residual life time.
Stress distribution description in the vicinity of the crack front in the case of thin specimens
Ševčík, Martin ; Hutař, Pavel ; Náhlík, Luboš
This work shows the comparison of stress field distribution in front of the crack front from both vertex singularity and out-of-plane constraint description. The three-dimensional numerical simulations of the middle crack tension specimen are performed. Relevant fracture mechanics parameters are estimated using finite element simulations and used for semi-analytical stress field descriptions mentioned. Good agreement between out-of-plane constraint methodology and vertex singularity methodology was found.
