The two most disastrous flash floods in Bohemia over the past 300 years (in summer 1714 and in spring 1872) and their social impacts
Munzar, Jan ; Ondráček, Stanislav ; Elleder, D.
The floods, which occurred at the turn of July and August 1714 on the Bohemian-Moravian borderland and in May 1872 in Berounka R. basin and Eger R. basin, indelibly wrote in the flood history of the Czech lands. It was a quite extraordinary cases downpour and subsequent flash floods that hit exceptionally large areas. Probably because these two extremes can also be described as most tragic rainfall-runoff events in the last 300 years.
Slope movements as natural hazard, their impact and threat of landscape
Batelková, Kateřina ; Kirchner, Karel
The contribution deals with the landslides and their impact on the landscape. Landslide events associated with extreme rainfall periods in Moravia and Silesia are discussed in detail. Research of slope deformations allow to specification and revision of the genesis of some meso-forms of the flysch relief in the highlands and mountains of eastern Moravia (remnants of planation surfaces, frost-riven cliffs).
Natural hazards and its social consequences
Zapletalová, Jana
Hazards and disasters - both natural and man made - have a broad impact not only on the natural environment, but also cause serious economic and social problems. Conference papers are devoted to the consequences of risky phenomena caused by nature, which include the impact of extreme floods and landslides, and risks that arise due to human activities, eg. the consequences of mining activities.
