Characteristic patterns and the vivid coloration of the wing scales of butterflies have lately attracted considerable attention as natural photonic crystals. The coloration of butterflies that exhibit human visible iridescence from violet to green has been elucidated. A Sasakia charonda (S. charonda) or ‘great purple emperor’ butterfly was sampled in a woodland in Japan, and an Euploea mulciber (E. mulciber) or 'striped blue crow’ butterfly was reared from an egg at the Environmental Entomology Research and Development Center, Kasetsart University.
Nicotiana Occidentalis Chloroplast Ultrastructure imaged with Transmission Electron Microscopes Working at Different Accelerating Voltages

The main goal of this thesis is to study and compare electron microscopy images of Nicotiana Occidentalis chloroplasts, obtained from two types of transmission electron microscopes,which work with different accelerating voltage of 80kV and 5kV. The two instruments, TEM JEOL 1010 and low voltage electron microscope LVEM5 are employed for experiments. In the first theoretical part, principle of electron microscopy and chloroplast morphology is described. In experimental part, electron microscopy images of chloroplast under different conditions of sample preparation are shown and discussed.
Roční průběh základních fluorescenčních parametrů dvou stálezelených rostlin

The aim of this bachelor thesis was to attain information of annual variation of basic chlorophyll fluorescence parameters in two evergreen overwintering plants: Picea omorica and Rhododendron x hybridum. Here, I measured F0, FM, FV/FM and NPQ in dark adapted samples under controlled light conditions and under ambient temperature corresponding to that in field. At first, the principles of photosynthesis and of chlorophyll fluorescene are described. In the second part the results are sumarized and disccussed.
