Hydrodynamic and Heat Transfer Model of a Gas-Liquid Microreactor

In this contribution we present a hydrodynamic and heat transfer model of a microreactor for a gas-liquid reaction. In the course of formulation of the model, we considered the characteristic features of the studied system – the gas-liquid flow pattern and the change in physical properties induced by pressure and temperature variation along the microreactor. Based on the input information (gas and liquid flow rates, compositions, temperatures), the model calculates the two-phase pressure drop and outlet temperature as the principal result. These results serve as a basis for the design of an intensified pilot scale microreactor.

Intensification of SO2 Oxidation – Comprehensive Literature Review

This contribution presents only the basic findings from the extended literature review dealing with the SO2 oxidation. The detailed review including all references is beyond the scope of a poster contribution and will be considered for later publication as a comprehensive review paper.
Surfactant Dissolution Using High Pressure Micromixer In-line Spectrometry at Pilot Scale Flow Rates

We report that the highly viscous paste can be dissolved very quickly and efficiently in microSAR mixers with very low pressure losses. Inline measurements, including spectroscopy, in the HP rigs was easily organized by reapplication of the FMU elements.

Dissolution of Xanthan Gum powder was tested in micro static mixers. No technical issues were encountered concerning the application of micro mixers for the powder dissolution. For deeper understanding of dissolution mechanism further experiments and detailed rheological investigation is suggested.
High-pressure Emulsificationin Micromixers

An image processing procedure for analyzing the results of the high-pressure emulsification was developed. Based on the results the model for prediction of the drop diameter was formulated. Additional experiments are proposed to further validate the theory.
