Simulation of space debris removal by aerodynamic drag

Množstvo kozmického odpadu na obežnej dráhe narastá a začínajú sa podnikať rôzne iniciatívy na jeho kontrolu. V tejto práci predstavíme aktívnu metódu odstraňovania kozmického odpadu o veľkosti 1 cm. Založená je na vytvorení malého oblaku prachových častíc priamo vo vesmíre. Cieľom je trafiť odpad vo vysokej relatívnej rýchlosti, čím dôjde ku spomaleniu odpadu vďaka odporovej sile. Tým vieme zredukovať dobu života odpadu na orbite zo stoviek rokov na menej ako 25 rokov. Odhadujeme, že so zásobou 100 kg prachových častíc by bolo možné odstrániť vyše tisíc kusov odpadu. 1
Vlastnosti Orionid pozorovaných v roce 2006

In the present work we study the Orionid 2006 meteor shower. All results in this work come from double station video observations. We study exceptional activity, caused most probably by particles trapped in resonance motion with Jupiter. We focused on light curves, atmospheric trajectories and orbital elements of meteoroids. We can find here comparison with other years of activity of the Orionid meteor shower and comparison with other annual meteor showers.
Analysis and Suppression of Noise in Astronomical Video

This paper is devoted to noise suppression in systems for double station observation of meteors, nowadays known as MAIA (Meteor Automatic Imager and Analyzer). The noise analysis based on acquisition of testing video sequences at different lighting conditions and their statistical evaluation were described in our previous paper The measurement showed that the type of noise generated by the system is signal-independent in a certain illumination range. The noise and image models in the wavelet domain are based on the Generalized Laplacian Model (GLM) and it is the most convenient to estimate the model parameters using the moment method. Furthermore, the noise component may be modeled by the GLM also in the space domain. Overall, we verified that the GLM allows for modeling various types of probability density functions. In the final section of this paper, the performance of the proposed advanced de noising algorithm is verified on the real data, which were acquired in the Astronomical Institute.
