This bachelor thesis focuses on the issue of direct examination of the contact cam-follower, as the epitome of contact with a variable geometry and load. These changes can cause a breakdown of the lubricating film, which can result in increased friction and thus wear more related elements out. After the theoretical introduction to the issue of lubrication of the first connection, the basic theory needed for further development is generally described. Afterwards the current state of knowledge with the key findings is summarized. Individual studies show where it is necessary to proceed further, and what to possibly improve on apparatuses for direct examination of the contact. With the gained values and knowledge we can improve the technology and design of the elements that are participating in the joint contact cam-follower in order to ensure their longer life.
