Vargová, Martina ; Střítecký, Vít (advisor) ; Ludvík, Zdeněk (referee)
Diploma thesis The Russian Approach to the Process of Disengagement of the Returning Foreign Fighters is dealing with the issue of terminating one's membership and participation on activities of the terrorist organizations abroad in the context of the Russian Federation. The aim of the thesis is to fill the gap in the research which has neglected the Russian approach. The thesis is working with the theoretical knowledge of the current research on disengagement and transfers it to the state level. The approach of the Russian Federation to the process of disengagement is analysed within the categories of hard and soft measures which are being implemented by the Russian Federation in connection with the disengagement of the foreign fighters returning from Syria and Iraq mainly to the North Caucasian region. Based on the balance between hard and soft measures, the complexity of the Russian approach is being assessed. The approach of the Russian Federation to the process of disengagement of the foreign fighters is varied on the federal and within the regional level as well. The federal level approach is strictly based on hard measures and involuntary disengagement of the returning foreign fighters. The regional level in cases of Chechnya, North Ossetia, Stavropol region and Karachay-Cherkessia is...
Analysis of the Russian Attitude toward the Concept of Humanitarian Intervention
Vargová, Martina ; Střítecký, Vít (advisor) ; Valková, Irena (referee)
Bachelor thesis Analysis of the Russian Attitude toward the Concept of Humanitarian Intervention is primarily concerned with the way in which the Russian federation legitimizes its inconsistent approach to the currently debated concept of humanitarian intervention. The main goal of the thesis is to point out on what normative grounds the Russian side formulates justification of its position as a defender or as an opponent of the concept. Thesis is based on the constructivist perception of international relations and depicts the Russian federation as a valid member of the international system which legitimizes all of its actions or inactions in terms of universally accepted norms of this system. Analysis of the Russian political discourse shows that norms which determine justification of humanitarian intervention are highlighted in cases when the Russian federation implements military intervention potentially including humanitarian dimension (if necessary exaggerated by the interpretation of the Russian political authorities). In case, that the Russian federation opposes the possibility to put the concept of humanitarian intervention in practice, it highlights the norms which contradict the concept from the very beginning of its occurrance. The text is divided into three main chapters. Chapter one...

Vargová, Martina ; Střítecký, Vít (advisor) ; Beneš, Jan (referee)
Diploma thesis Analysis of Negative Political and Security Impacts of Asylum Seekers Hosting in the European Union Member States reflects upon the increasing numbers of asylum seekers arriving at the shores of the European Union and therewith associated potential negative political and security impact of their hosting. The aim of the thesis is to assess whether any negative impact of asylum seekers hosting can be observed within three areas of concern identified as a) crime rate, b) terrorism rate and c) political tension between the host states and whether higher hosting performance of the member states produces a more negative impact. In order to fulfil the aim of the thesis, a quantitative ordinary least squares linear regression analysis followed by a qualitative approach is conducted. The analysis processes data on the number of asylum seekers arriving in each member state available via United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees database, the crime rate data available via Eurostat and the terrorism rate data available via Global Terrorism Database administered by University of Maryland. Two levels of analysis are present, a generalized level focusing on four categories of member states based on their per capita hosting performance and an individual level of analysis focusing on individual...
