Parental co- decision making options in the Step By Step programme.

This thesis deals with the issue of parents' participation in their children's education in the Step by Step programme in the first stage of primary school. The educational phenomenon of parental co-decision as one of the forms of cooperation with the family and as an important factor enhancing the effectiveness of pupils' education is presented in the theoretical part. The theoretical part of this thesis draws knowledge from both Czech and foreign literature. The theoretical part is followed by the research part, which is designed as qualitative research. The aim of the research is to find out how parents and teachers understand the phenomenon of co- decision and focuses on their feedback, based on their previous experiences. In addition to the advantages and benefits, the thesis also points out the weaknesses and critical points of co- decision. The practical part also includes an interview with a first stage primary school teachers, dealing with the Step by Step programme and the cooperation between parents and school through the Step by Step Methodology Centre. The interviews are based on the teachers' own practice and experience.
