The main topic of the thesis is an investigation of the image of Boris Godunov and his reign in sources of selected Russian historical narrations on the Time of Troubles of the first half of the 17th century. The thesis pays attention to the historical sources and describes selected literary texts and their authors. It also uses relevant secondary literature to briefly describe the period of the turn of the 16th and the 17th centuries. Key words Boris Godunov, Time of Troubles, Pretenders, Ivan IV Vasilyevich, Fyodor I Ivanovich, Russia, Ivan Timofeyev, Avraamy Palitsyn
