Web Service for Pronunciation Training and Foreign Language Learning
Stehlík, Ján ; Bambušek, David (referee) ; Szőke, Igor (advisor)
This article presents a design and an implementation of Web application for English pronunciation training. Nowadays, there are a lot of on-line applications that help to improve English level or skill level of any other foreign language. On the other hand, there are not so many applications that help to improve pronunciation of given language. This project was developed to fill the gap, and to enable users to practice pronunciation by repeating short video segments. Using their microphone device users will record their speech. This speech will be compared with the reference recording. Result of this comparison will be returned to the user as a similarity score. The similarity score is computed using Dynamic Time Warping algorithm, that is incorporated inside a video player used in this application.
Circadian rhythms and photoperiodism in insects
STEHLÍK, Jan
In this thesis we present experimental data and discuss circadian rhythm regulation in the housefly, Musca domestica. Our findings suggest that, although differences in the mechanisms of circadian rhythm regulation between Musca domestica and Drosophila melanogaster are not as fundamental as was originally expected, they still provide interesting insight into the evolution of biological clocks. We also studied possible involvement of one of the circadian clock genes, timeless, in photoperiodic induction of diapause in a drosophilid fly, Chymomyza costata. We found the transcription of tim gene to be strongly disrupted in CNS of npd-mutant (non-photoperiodic-diapause) larvae. Analysis of genomic structure of tim gene revealed that the promoter of timelessnpd allele carries a large deletion, a possible cause of disruption of photoperiodic calendar function in npd-mutant larvae of C. costata.
Mineralogical and geochemical characteristics of selected hydrothermal mineralizations in the Blanice Furrow
Stehlík, Jan ; Zachariáš, Jiří (advisor) ; Hurai, Vratislav (referee)
Blanice furrow is about 180 km long NNE-SSW trending fault system which extends from Český Brod through České Budějovice to Linz in Austria. Numerous small sized silver bearing Ag-Zn- Pb±Cu deposits and two late-orogenic gold deposits (electrum) are hosted in this tectonic zone. The most important silver-bearing ore regions are Stříbrná Skalice -Střímělice, Ratibořské Hory - Stará Vožice and Rudolfov which were mined in the Middle Ages. The most important gold- bearing deposit is Roudný which was mined in the period 1985-1930. In this thesis, mineralogical characteristics of ore and isotopic composition of carbonates were studied. Galena and sphalerite does not contain silver which has been found in Ag-rich fahlore and other Ag-minerals. δ18 O values of carbonates are 11 - 23 ‰ SMOW and δ13 C values are -8 to -17 ‰ PDB. These isotopoe charakteristics indicates deep methamorphic origin of hydrothermal fluid. Significant variations in δ13 C value suggests more than one source of carbon which is probably of deep crustal origin mixed with carbon of organic origin hosted in moldanubian crystalline units. Isotope fractionation equations have been used to determine the temperatures of carbonate crystallization which are about 100 - 300řC and quite well corresponds to homogenization temperatures of fluid...

Prepared for the Worst: Counter-terrorism in the Visegrad
Stehlík, Jan ; Hokovský, Radko (advisor) ; Bureš, Oldřich (referee)
The study investigates the development of counter-terrorism in the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia between 1989 and 2017, with a focus on developments of the Criminal Code and changes in the institutional framework. A description of counter-terrorism developments is constructed for each country. Subsequently, general hypotheses about counter-terrorism development derived from existing literature are tested using causal-process tracing tools, resulting in preliminary conclusions about the causes of the identified developments. The results indicate that changes in the Criminal Code were primarily driven by external pressure from international organisations, whereas institutional changes tended to result from country-specific processes, threat perception and inspiration from abroad. Keywords: Counter-terrorism, terrorism, Visegrad, Central Eastern Europe, Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Slovakia

Minimum wage in Czech republic after 1990 and its use as supplement to social transfers
Stehlík, Jan ; Bartůsková, Lucia (advisor) ; Ševčíková, Michaela (referee)
The aim of this thesis and its main contribution is to propose a model of optimal minimum wage that takes into account the income structure of the Czech population and the impact of adjustments to the minimum wage on unemployment and the structure of social transfers. Model brings the optimization of household income and savings in social policy redistribution, while optimizing employment and social benefits . The main hypothesis of this work is the assumption that the minimum wage can serve as a supplement social transfers. Given the ever- increasing expenditure on social security system and an open , lively debate about the consequences of the introduction of a minimum wage, this is a very current topic that needs attention. Contribution of research of this issue is to design possibilities for savings in expenditure on social policy. In the theoretical part the emphasis is aimed on the characteristics of household income, income inequality, the theoretical foundations of the social security system , tax theory and especially the concept of the minimum wage from the perspective of different economic schools. This part states the grounds for further statistical analysis and research in selected models of optimal minimum wage. The practical part is an analysis of three selected models of optimal minimum wage as well as an analysis of legislative developments and statistical values of key indicators to which the foundations were laid in the theoretical part. The research emphasizes the correlation between variables in national economy, identifying key social benefits appropriate to optimize and the implementation and effects of a possible increase in the minimum wage . The main focus of the practical part is a combination of previously gained knowledge to design model of optimal minimum wage.
Design and implementation of IS for credit collection
Cibulka, Lukáš ; Pecinovský, Rudolf (advisor) ; Stehlík, Jan (referee)
This thesis deals with credit collection information system design and implementation. The thesis consists of three parts. The first part looks into invoice administration, credit collection, and trends of dedicated information systems. The second part analyzes a solution currently supporting credit collection processes in a selected consulting company. The last part contains a design and an implementation of a new solution for this company. The main out-come of this thesis is to create an easily extensible credit collection solution.
Efficiency of regulation models in financial markets in environment of monetary policy changes.
Stehlík, Jan ; Štekláč, Jiří (advisor) ; Titze, Miroslav (referee)
This paper examines models of supervision and regulation over the financial market and their impact on volatility of interest rates according to monetary policy changes. Its goal is to judge if some of these models aren't less effective and cause higher volatility and if the assumption of market stability is provided. It looks into monetary policy changes and their impact on financial market, interest rates and their development in time of these changes. It analyzes correlation of monetary policy and financial market and gives characteristics of each of regulation models. Using the method of graphical analysis, this paper compares reactions of short- and longterm interest rates (Treasury bills and 10years government yields) in relevant countries during monetary change applications. It examines also official offered rate and real interbank rate and its' spreads. As indicator of financial market stress is used Libor-OIS spread. It evaluates the influence of models used in different countries in each given situation.
