The bachelor thesis deals with gardens, parks and animal enclosures during the Han dynasty. In the first part focuses on questions of hunting parks and gardens in the pre-Han period, and it lays particular stress on imperial parks of the Qin dynasty. In the main part it focuses on imperial as well as private parks and gardens during the Han dynasty, which are described and examined from different points of view. The work is concentrated on the material description, importance and functions of different kinds of gardens and parks, as well as their political, social and ritual connotations.
