Simbartlová, Anna ; Tomalová, Eliška (advisor) ; Bauer, Paul (referee)
The Master thesis "Civic Integration of Immigrants in France between 2002-2012" deals with a new integration model of civic integration which the European immigration countries have begun to enforce since the turn of the millennium. An interesting feature of this model is that it is employed by countries whose approch to the integration of immigrants significantly differed till the end of the 20th century. The goal of the thesis is to discover what character shows the civic integration as a new integration model of immigrants in Europe in the integration policies applied in France between 2002-2012. The main hypothesis is based on the theory of the return of assimilation. Its author R. Brubaker claims that in the current integration policies of (not only) European states, the assimilationist tendencies return - however, not in the original concept of assimilation, but in a new transformed concept in between assimilation and multiculturalism. The thesis applies this theory conclusion to the contemporary civic integration policies, so the research verifies its assimilationist character. According to the method specially compiled for this research, the results prove that the integration measures accepted in France between 2002-2012 show a development from a moderate to considerable assimilationist...

Simbartlová, Anna ; Tomalová, Eliška (advisor) ; Perottino, Michel (referee)
The bachelor thesis "Alliance Française and Institut Français: Cooperation or Competition? (The Case of the Czech Republic)" deals with the Czech model of activities provided by the French cultural institutions abroad and the potential complementarity or rivalry of theirs. The first chapter briefly introduces the general cultural diplomacy and afterwards deals with the French model of this policy. Among the specific elements of the French cultural diplomacy belongs the wide net of cultural centres which is created by two types of institutions namely Instituts français, organised by the French government, and Alliances françaises associations which are governmentally independent. The thesis is further specialised on the case of the Czech Republic where there simultaneously exist both of above mentioned types of cultural institutions. The second chapter describes mainly their functioning and activities, and the third chapter subsequently analyses their reciprocal relationship. The aim of this thesis is to research whether this relationship is complementary or conflicting. The thesis comes to the conclusion that in spite of certain collisions of interests between Institut français and Alliances françaises in the Czech model, the close cooperation which is in motion between them and which constitutes...
