The PhD thesis Poetry of the First Three Decades of the 19th Century. Starting Points and Conditions of Creation and Its Genre Composition in the Work of the Enlightenment Poetic Generation deals with poetry of the Czech national revival starting from appearance of Puchmajer's poetic school stemming from Enlightenment classicism to pieces of work created under the growing influence of romanticism in the 30ies of the 19th century. The goal of this thesis is to follow the development, transformations and mutual action of the most important lyrical and epic genres of revival poetry, in view of the contemporary role of writing in verse and of the specific conditions of creation as well as reception of poetic work in the Czech language. It assumes and verifies on specific texts that for revival authors, writing of Czech poems is especially an expression of patriotic efforts; talent and literary erudition are not a necessary predisposition of creation. The thesis analyses poetic texts and generalises the results in the form of basic features of revival poetry. Based on transformations of individual genres, the conclusions of this thesis emphasize the principal advancement which occurred in poetic creation of the national revival in the 20ies of the 19th century.
