Media Image of the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict in 2021

The bachelor thesis studies the media image of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict in the Czech media in 2021. The Defender of the Walls / The Sword of Jerusalem is the name of the armed conflict that took place in the territory of Israel and the Palestinian Authority in May 2021. Although it is the same armed conflict, the two opposing sides call it differently, namely Defender of the Wall by Israel and Sword of Jerusalem by the Palestinian Authority. The media image of the conflict may be similar - same conflict, different media interpretation. Therefore, the aim of the bachelor thesis is to find the frames through which Czech online newspapers (Aktuálně.cz and Novinky.cz) reported on the conflict. First, however, the theoretical part of the thesis introduces how the media construct reality and how framing actually works. Along with this, the theoretical part mentions the existing research on the framing of the Israeli- Palestinian conflict or a search of existing knowledge. The thesis then provides insight into the historical and current context of the conflict between Israel and the Palestinian Authority, which is central to the orientation of the issue.
