Rezková, Kristýna ; Kunt, Miroslav (advisor) ; Prokeš, Radek (referee)
This bachelor degree work consists of two parts. Its literary research deals with the analysis of various irreplaceable tasks of green vegetation in urban environment, specific features of planting greenery and taking care of it, typifying of green areas in settled places and, last but not least, the importance of its legal protection. The following part of the research deals with Libosad in the campus of the Czech University of Agriculture in Prague. It describes the geological, geomorphological, pedological and climatic conditions of the site and the history of the birth of Libosad. It also describes the methodology by Professor Machovec which was used for data gathering in the Libosad park of the Czech University of Agriculture. The practical part of the work deals with re-inventory of woody plants and perennials in the Libosad of the CUA. The work was based on inventories which had been realized in previous years. The methodology by Professor Machovec was used to take the measurements of deciduous trees, bushes, coniferous woody plants and perennials. All the data were registered in inventory tables and all items were recorded in the file of CAD programme. The data output provides three documents: the map of Libosad with all the plants recorded in it and equipped with a special code for each item, an inventory map with graphic representation of the items´ value in landscape gardening and treetops´ projections, and the map of landmarks of Libosad. All the research was also documented by photos which were later inserted into an interactive table on the web mapserver with public access. The flora of Libosad includes 2,045 items in 78 families. The total of 137 deciduous trees (23 genera), 643 items of deciduous bushes (83 genera), 863 items of coniferous woody plants (23 genera) and 398 perennials and grasses (109 genera) can be found in the place. The most numerous genus among deciduous trees is the Acer with 34 items, deciduous bushes are represented by the genus Rosa with 54 items, number one among coniferous trees and bushes being the genus Pinus (164 items). Owing to the juvenile stage of the major part of the collection, the condition of the park is very good. The majority of items are of class III value in landscape gardening (1188 items), followed by class II (319 items), class IV (82 items) and class I (52 items).
Inventory of woody plants in part area of Červený vrch in Prague and elaboration of the digital map of this selected area
Synek, Petr ; Kunt, Miroslav (advisor) ; Prokeš, Radek (referee)
This bachelor thesis is dealing with practical inventory of part of the housing estate Červený vrch in the city district Prague 6. It uses inventory methods according to Machovec (1982). For each of the tree species the precise species determination has been carried out, dendrometric data were measured, landscape value of trees were assessed and its exact location was entered into digital map in AutoCAD. The literature search initially covers the history of gardens and garden styles. More specifically it deals with the history of the oldest garden styles, medieval gardens and the current form of gardens. Next chapter discusses the use of woody plants in landscape creation according to terms of their classification and assortment. It is followed by an analysis of the importance of urban greenery and various types of urban greenery. Bachelor thesis contains a brief analysis of the natural characteristics of the target area. In the second half of this thesis there are complete inventory tables and their detailed graphical analysis. Strengths and weaknesses of the used method of inventorying are listed in the discussion in comparison with the alternative method of classification of woody vegetation elements according to Pejchal (2008). The obtained digital map together with the inventory tables and photo documentation are placed on mapserver.
Aromatic and medical plant in family garden
Fialová, Hana ; Vaněk, Jan (advisor) ; Prokeš, Radek (referee)
This bachelor thesis is focused on the options of using medicinal aromatic spice plants (MAPs) found in family, hobby gardens in the Czech Republic. The aim of the thesis is to describe possible issues encountered during their cultivation using existing literary sources. First part of the thesis defines categories of researched plants, describes the history of MAPs and the reason why they were and still are being cultivated. Following chapter deals with choosing the right place for plant growth and with related characteristics such as soil quality, its treatment and light conditions. Next, a group of MAPs representatives are chosen in a way such that plants may be chosen among them for different garden environments, with different height, look and treatment requirements. Next chapter describes the options of using MAPs in a garden, be it mixed beds or newly created neighborhood in the form of a herb spiral or a gravel bed. It mentions the possibility of putting these elements into the concept of a thematic whole and achieving a three dimensional garden look through both ground plants and hanging containers. The part of thesis dedicated to reproduction is closely related to cultivation, because lots of plants need to be regulated as they grow. Furthermore, it describes sexual and asexual strategies of reproduction. The overview of care during different seasons highlights the most common tasks to be done in those periods. At the end of the thesis there are listed best practices of harvesting and processing herbs. Drying or freezing herbs has been getting more prominent, alongside the usual consumption in their fresh state. Herbs processed in that way may be used for brewing tea, as food spices, manufacturing cosmetic products and more. The variability of herbs is further proven by their use to create a homemade herb broth, which may in some cases fully substitute chemical fertilizers and other solutions.
Inventory of woody plants in an area of 'Červený vrch' in Prague 6 and elaboration of the digital map of this selected area
Táborská, Anna ; Kunt, Miroslav (advisor) ; Prokeš, Radek (referee)
The aim of this thesis is to evaluate the current condition of flora located on the housing estate Červený Vrch in the municipal district Prague 6. The inventoried area is situated in the north-eastern part of the housing estate between the streets of Evropská st. and Horoměřická st. In this territory the woody plants have been inventoried according to Machovec (1982). The individual components of the local dendroflora have been indentified and localised in a work map or, eventually, by GPS coordinates. Based on the beforementioned localization a digital map of woody plants was created using the AutoCAD software. Furthermore the values of age and height of the local woody plants were measured and the landscaping value was determined. All the beforementioned values were imported to the inventory tables, which were created using the Microsoft Excel software and are a part of the thesis results. In the literature search there is a short summary of the history of the garden art. Furthermore there is a chapter devoted to the historical evolution of the urban flora, the urbanism of the 20th century and the creation of housing estates in Prague. The presented thesis also contains chapters devoted to the important persons of the urbanism movement, such as Ebenezer Howard and Le Corbusier, who played a major part in the emergence of flora into the cities. The Ebenezer Howard theory of the garden city is analysed in detail. The next part of the research is dedicated to the landscape creation, its values and division. The final part is devoted to the urban greenery and its division and importance. The sole area of Vokovice in Prague, where the Červený Vrch housing estate is located, is described in detail in the Chapter named the materials and methods. In particular, the nature characterization of landscape, the history of Vokovice housing estate and the construction of a prefab housing estate from around the time of 60s and 70s are analysed. The used methods of invetorying according to Machovec (1982) and subsequently the process of invetorying are described. The second half of this thesis consists of the inventory tables and the visual and verbal evaluation of the beforementioned tables. From the results it is evident that the largest portion of 60% of woody plants is represented by deciduous shrubs, and hence there are plenty of their growths. This is mainly caused by the large number of seeding trees present. Thereafter the most frequently present tree species and their measured characteristics are evaluated. Finally, there is a comparison of the methods of inventorying according to Machovec and the classification of woody vegetation elements by Miloš Pejchal.

In my bachelor thesis I'm dealing with inventory of part area of Red Hill in Prague. Inventory of this part area was carried out according to Machovec (1982). Further I made digital map of this part area and created photographs of all species. In the literature search I'm dealing with function of greenery in urban environment, what effect it has on humans and their lives, importance of greenery and aesthetics. The next chapter of my bachelor thesis is dedicated to part area of Red Hill in terms of history and progression of this part area, than continue with soil and climate conditions. Further I'm delaing with methods and in which way are these species inventorized. I'm describing each measurement which are crucial for my thesis. Whole inventory was created by the system described in Machovec (1982). Further I made table inventory on the base of my measurement, which I divided by category to deciduous trees, conifers and evergreen shrubs, deciduous shrubs and perennials. I entered all the information in to the program AutoCAD and created digital map of part area of Red Hill. Photodocumentation was made for each of the species. According to my measurements 1027 trees and perennials are located on the part area of Red Hill. Of which is 206 deciduos trees, 145 conifers and evergreen shrubs, 653 deciduous shrubs. Total amount of perennials is 23. The most common deciduous tree is Aesculus hippocastanum. The most frequent conifer is Picea abies and the most common deciduous shrub is Syringa vulgaris. The most frequent tree of part area Red Hill is Syringa vulgaris. Furthermore according to my measurements I found out that the most common age category is from 20 to 40 years old and the most frequent handscaping value of three. From all these informations I made graphs which are visible in the next chapters of my thesis.
