Mother - drug user as client of OSPOD

Background: This thesis is based on the increasing number of mothers (using addictive substances), which are appearing in social services, particularly in the Authority For Social And Legal Protection Of Children Specificity of mothers using addictive substances requires a special approach by addictology services. It begs a question, whether such specifics as to meet workers of ASPLC in cooperation with these mothers. The aim of this thesis is to describe the specifics of the work ASPLC with these mothers. Other aims are to determine how the cooperation between the two sides takes place, whether and which problems can occure in cooperation with these mothers and describe the procedure for the removing of children of these mothers and the possible impact of abusing ilegal substances on the need for the children removing. Methodology: Respondents for the research were selected using the purposive sampling method. The research sample consisted 11 workers of ASPLC and three mothers using addictive substances). Data were obtained by using of a semi-structured interview. Data were prepared for the analysis by transcription and coding, for which I used elements of the cluster method. Child abuse and neglect as a risk factor for the development of addiction

Child abuse & neglect we consider as a risk factor of addiction development. The use of addictive substances belongs to a strategy to deal with difficult life situations and many studies confirm that those people who was abused in childhood show more frequent use of drugs. The aim of Bachelor thesis is to outline the relationship between child abuse & neglect and development of addiction and describe less known forms of child abuse & neglect. The other goal includes finding out subjectively perceived relationship between child abuse & neglect and developmental addiction with a certain factor abuse pattern in the context of childhood harm. The following research questions were formulated in connection with the research. What forms of child abuse & neglect did clients encounter? What is the role of substance abuse in relation to child abuse & neglect? The research was conducted through a case study of three clients of the therapeutic community who experienced various forms of child abuse & neglect. The result of the work is to determine that all of the clients perceive the connection. Drug usage has helped them to join their collective peers, forget about unpleasant experiences and increase self-esteem. Addictive substances during pregnancy and their possible effect on child development

The thesis "Addictive Substances and their Possible effect on Child Development" deals with the effects of addictive drugs used by pregnant women on their child's development. Firstly, the text focuses on common valid definitions and characteristics of addictive substances. The addictive substances are divided into two categories - illegal and legal drugs. Initially, key groups of addictive substances are described and then their individual representatives are portrayed briefly. Furthermore, the thesis focuses on the period of prenatal development, which will serve as a comprehensive overview on the subject and will logically connect individual chapters. Another part of the thesis focuses on the characteristics of drug-addicted mothers, describes the specific traits of drug addicted pregnant women. Moreover, in this part pregnant women with dual diagnosis are described. Last but not least, the theoretical part of the thesis will explain complications that arise in infants right after childbirth, especially the fetal alcohol spectrum disorder (FASD), neonatal abstinence syndrome (NAS) or infection.
