Metaphor in mathematics

Die Diplomarbeit beschäftigt sich mit dem Auftreten von Metaphern in der Mathematik. Die Arbeit ist in drei Teile geteilt. In dem ersten Teil werden teoretische Erkenntnisse auf dem Gebiet der Semiotik zusammengefasst, einer Wissenschaft, die sich mit Zeichen beschäftigt, unter welche die Metapher gehört. Weiter werden einzelne Metapherarten bekannt gemacht. Der zweite Teil wird der Analyse von ausgewählten Kapiteln der Mathematiklehrbüchern gewidmet und macht bekannt, welche Metapherarten man in diesen Lehrbüchern finden kann. Der dritte Teil beschreibt ein Experiment, das auf die Forschung von ausgewählten Metapherarten (Orientierungsmetaphern, ontologischen Metaphern, Begriffen, die aufgrund der Metapher entstanden sind) und einer unpassenden Verwendung von Metaphern in Mathematikunterricht gerichtet ist.

A Plane Perspectivity

This thesis is intended for high school and university students and their teachers, who want to expand their knowledges about plane geometry. In the introduction of the text we let the reader know ideal point, dividing ratio and cross ratio. Thesis shows the dividing mappings in plane according to their characteristics which they maintaining. With some simple examples it shows their use in practice, their characteristics and main types. Main part of the thesis is projective transformations and affine transformations, derivation of their characteristics, searching for other points and their use. The work is added with illuminating pictures and photos. Pictures were drawn in QCAD software and GeoGebra software.

This work is intended for high school and university students and their teachers who want to learn or improve their knowledge about affine transformations and perspective collineation. In this work the reader acquainted with the ideal elements, dividing ratio and cross ratio. The main part of the work is perspective collineation and affine transformations, their definitions, properties, specificity and finding other elements. This work also deals with the use of affine transformations and perspective collineation in descriptive geometry. The text is supplemented with illustrative images, applets and step-by-step images that are created with GeoGebra software.
