A comparison of copyright protection of author and performing artist

Radomír Pivoda Srovnání autorskoprávní ochrany autora a výkonného umělce A comparison of copyright protection of authors and performing artists The main goal of this thesis is to compare the key aspects of the copyright protection of authors and performing artists in the Czech Republic. The basic differences are explained with respect to its historical evolution, which is put into context with the current social situation in the field of art. The paper is divided into six chapters. The first chapter gives an explanation of the basic terminology used in the area of copyright law and sets the frame for the comparison of authors and authorship and performing artists and their artistic performances. In the Czech Republic, authorship is based on the expression of a piece of art in any way perceivable by human senses. There is no registration principle in effect. This fact provides the starting point for the protection of authors' rights. Therefore it is important to precisely define what can be considered a piece of art and who can be recognised as an author or a performing artist. The second chapter deals with the legal treatment of authors according to the Czech Copyright Act and other legal regulations, including the recent case law and description of the most often infringements of the copyright...
SCHOOL FOR FLUTE

The aim of this diploma thesis is to create, if possible, a comprehensive view of the methodology of the playing the flute. The work includes a brief informations about history and development of the flute. It desribes individual parts of the flute, suitable production materials and appropriate instrument care. The work is also focused on holding the instrument, the flute playing posture, making a tone, embouchure, breathing, dynamics and vibrato. Part of my thesis is also devoted to pedagogy, it contains informations about the pupils' and educator's access to education and describes several options of proper exercising.
Interpretation of Johann Sebastian Bach's Partita for flute solo a moll BWV 1013 by contemporary performers

The goal of this work is a musical analysis and a follow-up interpretive analysis of Partita BWV1013 a moll for solo flute by Johann Sebastian Bach. For this purpose I chose the recordings of major European flutists. The reader will become familiar with the interpretative analysis and performance comparison of the baroque and modern transverse flute. The result should be a deeper understanding of this work both in terms of music and style.
The Flue Pedagogues at AMU in Prague

The thesis deals with famous Czech flutists who have been pedagogically active at the Music Faculty of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague (hereafter referred to as “HAMU”) and the flutists who are still pedagogically active today. The work is divided into two larger sections which include two bigger topics. The first one describes the concept of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague (hereafter referred to as “AMU” or “Academy”), especially its establishment and historical development. The second chapter titled The Flute Pedagogues at AMU in Prague is a principal one of this thesis. There are the names of pedagogues with their curriculum vitae and by the current teachers their connection to HAMU as former students and current educators. This chapter also points out important students who have received engagement in major positions of leading Czech or foreign orchestras or have started their career as solo players.
Flute in the works of westbohemian contemporary composers

Diploma thesis „ Flute in the work of westbohemian contemporary composers“ discusses the life, inspiration and the methods of composing in young generation of recent pilsner authors. An analysis of selected pieces composed for flute is a part of this thesis. The goals of this thesis are to acquaint and to document recent works for flute for potentional interprets and for people interested into contemporary music.
Eduard Douša, composer and teacher

The thesis brings the general point of view on the personality of Eduard Douša as composer and teacher. The first chapter brings a brief curriculum vitae of Douša. The second chapter offers an complete view at the composer´s work. It makes us familiar with the author´s beginnings as composer, first inspirations and personalities, which inspired him in studying composition, but also with his attitude to modern composition techniques. It is here closer spoken about reasons of composer´s interest in instructional works for kids and young adults. In this chapter is also analysed the topic of choice of musical forms, which Eduard Douša prefers, and he is convenient with them. The third chapter deals with Douša´s opinions on teaching, and methods he uses in his teaching of the composition. There are also mentioned the people, who served as role models to Douša. In the final, fourth chapter, is previous knowledge supported by meeting selected works of Eduard Douša for brass instruments. The biggest attention is given to Sonatina for flute and the piano.
Principles of communication in the Czech music industry

The diploma thesis deals with the marketing communication of Czech musicians, concretely how musicians should effectively communicate with their audience. The aim is to analyse and to create the optimal way to develop the communication of musicians within the Czech music sphere. The theoretic part aims to define the fundamental terms of this thesis. It explains terms relating to the marketing communication, communication mix, communication and media channels used in the music industry and it also defines the Czech music industry. The practical part consists of two qualitative researches regarding the communication of musicians and the audience in the Czech music industry. The results are used for creation the methodology of marketing communication including the advices and recommendations for beginning musicians. The benefit of this thesis is the application of the methodology as the reference how to communicate with the audience for a purpose of gaining and building up the audience of the musicians.

Prague spring as a flute competition

In the thesis there are general information about the Prague Spring, the International Music Competition focusing on flute years, their compositions, members of jury, Czech and Slovak competitors and winners. The thesis also deals with information about the International Music Festival or historical and political situation in Czechoslovakia. The first capture involves an issue of the Prague Spring conception as a social and political cause, as an international music festival and international music competition. Each of these categories is particularly specified. The second - main - chapter contains detailed information about the International Music Competition focusing on flute. This part specifies all the years of flute competitions, every year is described in detail including selection and number of compositions, a number of competitors, participation of Czech flute players and famous jury members with their biography.
