Model study of biomolecules bonding to cerium oxide nanoparticles
Pittnerová, Daniela ; Matolínová, Iva (advisor) ; Vorokhta, Mykhailo (referee)
In the last few years cerium oxide due to its convenient properties for biomedical applications has been studied as a promising material for fabrication of third-generation of mediator-less enzymatic biosensors. The bonding of biomolecules with cerium oxide is a crucial parameter, which is difficult to study due to the complexity of the problem. Therefore the model studies on epitaxial and polycrystalline cerium oxide were carried out. In this thesis we continued in this line of the research with the complex study of bonding of amino acids histidine, glycine and sarcosine to cerium oxide nanoparticles. The nanoparticles' properties as the size and chemical composition were measured by electron microscopies and related techniques (TEM, SEM, EDX), and a series of photoemission spectroscopies (XPS, SRPES, RPES and NEXAFS). The dependence of zeta potential on the pH was measure by DLS technique.
Dog in a public space. Negotiating "more than human" public space
Baños Pittnerová, Daniela ; Rynda, Ivan (advisor) ; Gibas, Petr (referee)
The thesis deals with the presence of a dog in the city, specifically in the public space and the research itself is aimed at negotiating "more than human" public space. The presence of animals in the human world causes conflicts about the "right" place of this animal, whether is place conceptual or physical. The work takes the form of a case study, where I chose for research borough of Prague 2 and on particular cases of negotiation, I watched how each party tries to affect a form of public space. Through qualitative analysis I uncover the key points of negotiation by which I learn how the different parties understand the presence of a dog in a public space, on what basis is constantly negotiates form of residence and movement of the dog in this specific area. I have used several techniques of qualitative research, especially analysis of available documents, semi-structured interviews and participant observation. Data was analyzed using open coding. In the end the thesis answers to research questions, formulate recommendations and open debate.

Economic and ecological issues of public transport in town Banská Bystrica
Pittnerová, Daniela ; Geuss, Erik (advisor) ; Branžovský, Antonín (referee)
The topic of my bachelor thesis is the Economic and ecological issues of public transport in town Banská Bystrica. The first part of my publication describes the objective and methods used within my thesis, and it also shortly introduces the town Banská Bystrica. Further I describe past and present situation of the public transport in the town and problems with trolleybus transportation. In main part I focus on the environment within the town and I show the problems with pollution. I also shortly describe the major pollutants related to transport. Then I look closer on bus and trolleybus transportation and I compare these two vehicles from ecology and environmental view. The next part of thesis is economic advisement of public transportation in the city and comparison of bus and trolleybus transportation from economic angle. In the conclusion of my thesis I try to make the suggestion of convenient system of public transportation for the town Banská Bystrica considering the economic and environmental objectives.
