Interrupted History and Tradition - The Effect of Totalitarianism on the Structure of Scouting and the Catholic Church in Czechoslovakia

Bachelor Thesis Interrupted History and Tradition - The Effect of Totalitarianism on the Scouting and the Roman Catholic Church in Czechoslovakia attempts to summarize the issue of the interruption of two important organizations under the totalitarian regime in Czechoslovakia. Two methods of research are used in this work. Printed and oral sources - collection and summary of printed literature information and interviewing survivors. Thanks to the large amount of literature, the history of both organizations, including the events of totalitarianism, the list of traditions and organizational elements is outlined. On the basis of this, there is a comparison of traditions and subsequent consensus on the internal structure of scouting and the Catholic Church. In the second part of the thesis there is a list of interviews with witnesses who were or are members of Junák or the Catholic Church and experienced the year 1970 or 1989. The conclusion is the connection of information from printed and oral sources, their analysis and mapping of the totalitarian regime's intervention into scouting and the Catholic Church.
