The Analysis of Clients of Selected Retirement Homes in Prague and in South-Bohemian Region in terms of Selected Demographic Characteristics Abstract The aim of the work is firstly to ascertain and compare the number of beds in retirement houses in the area of capital city Prague and in the South-Bohemian Region, secondly to characterize the clients in retirement houses according to their age, sex and marital status and thirdly to carry out the mortality analysis of clients in selected retirement houses. The Register of Social Service Providers, which is operated by the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs, was used to find out the number of beds. To characterize the clients in retirement houses the descriptive demographic analysis was utilized and in the case of age it was the comparison with real population in corresponding region. The mortality analysis was worked out with the help of Kaplan-Meier method. Through the conducted research of mortality analysis it was find out that the quality of provided services does not decline with the higher capacity in retirement houses, even more the services are so quality that the clients in those retirement houses reach on the average higher age.
